Join us in our homesteading adventures with raising laying and meat chickens, pigs, beekeeping, gardening in raised beds, processing our own chickens as well as other peoples chickens and turkeys. We started our farm about a year ago, with about 50 meat birds and 30 laying birds. We have had many trials and tribulations throughout the short time we started homesteading and everything is a learning experience that we want to share with other people who may be just starting out or wanting to start homesteading. We have gained knowledge from experienced farmers and homesteaders as well as our own personal experiences and have found that a resource on first hand experience is vital in learning before you make the mistake or take a financial hit.
We will also share our basset hound rabbit hunting adventures, canning, harvesting fruits & veggies direct from the source, sewing, embroidery, bow-making, knife-making, soap making and baking.

My Geese are so wonderful. Love them beyond words
Each one has their own personality. Ours are sitting on a large nest now and the eggs should be due to hatch in a week or so.
Too cute the hops afterwards
I was curious to ask if its safe to give geese grass clippings...? And up to how many days old for the clippings also? You'd definitely not do this with other animals, especially horses. but it comes up sometimes for other animals.
We give grass clippings to all of our poultry, in small amounts and we make sure the pieces are small. The laying chicks don't seem to want much to do with the grass until the are fully feathered but the geese, turkeys and meat birds seem to be more interested at an earlier age for sure. We gave never had an issue with the grass clippings. The geese looked forward to their grass treats.
@@Stoney.HillFarm Thank you for the reply.
Where are the geese
They are outside in the fenced area. They love going outside in the winter when its a little warmer and sunny. We have the back door open to a fenced area, where the sheep, geese and chickens can go out.
Looks awesome! You guys have done so much work!
Wonderful breed of sheep. Nice area you have
Great video but I would have rather have listened to the birds or what you are saying instead of the music. Good luck with your farm!
So you sell your baby pilgrim geese. We can’t find them anywhere in SC. I am from Brockport NY
Couldn't hear you 😞
I apologize, I will edit the video to decrease the music volume. Thank you
Nice video. Brought back happy memories from when I had geese (Toulouse) many years ago. The only complaint is that my hearing isn't what it used to be and the music over whelmed the speaking and I couldn't make out a lot of what you said. Enjoy
Did only 1 out of 3 goslings survived? And how many eggs were in the first clutch? Did they lay more eggs in the season? I think they did great as first time parents though - some geese mature and hatch goslings only the next year. Curious how many they will hatch next year. And another question: Does the gander have brown eyes or blue ones? My young Embden looks like him, but has blue eyes. Thank you.
She hatched 4 goslings; 3 males and 1 female. We sold the 3 males and kept the female. She had 6 eggs in her 1st clutch. She did not lay again this year. We expect that she will lay again the spring and hatch out some goslings again. We will separate their daughter (Violet) from the group before the breeding season begins. Hannibal has beautiful blue eyes.
Beautiful birds, autsexing (males and females are different colors) is a big plus, but I've read that they have low fertility rate (about 50% vs 80% for Embdens or Toulouse). Did your geese have this issue? Thank you.
She hatched out 4 of 6 eggs in her clutch, which isn't bad, especially since it was her 1st ever clutch.
Lower or eliminate music. I cannot hear a word you are saying?
Thank you for sharing feedback. I am new and learning the process and want to improve, so feedback is welcome. Thank you again.
