Great...all they need is a dark smoke addition
Great little loco .I'm off to pre order if that's possible .I'm nipping into shop on Tuesday.
Makes me angry that all the manufacturers run limited runs if u miss out it a loss. Make more of each re run batches make more money NO BRAINER
These look fantastic, very nice to see them being run on Little Bytham and they look like great runners. A polite request - please could you avoid the strobing edits in future? The flashing sequence is a bit much for those who are photo-sensitive, especially with no warning. Otherwise, really enjoying this video series!
I didn’t know you made a TH-cam channel! Awesome!
Is this Tony Wright's layout Little Bytham that they're being tested on?
Yes! 😃
Lovely looking model and fair play your layout looks the business
Nice to hear a familiar voice again - been a while, Howard 😊 Oh, and it looks like a lovely loco, nice work Dapol
Lovely, Dapol really are leading the way with quality largely UK built models at an affordable price.
Don't think any of their locos are made in the UK yet. Only their lesser detailed OO stock and their O gauge rolling stock from memory is UK made
@@mattlander9119 I think you'll be surprised at how much they are doing here!
Just ordered mine 😀
Where can I see more of this lovely layout please.?
On this channel, simply by subscribing ;)
@@TheModelCentreTMC Ohh its the TMC layout? I would love to see a track plan overview if one exsists? very cool. And yes I will sub of course!
@@chickenbites8877 It's Tony Wright's 'Little Bytham' - check it out online ;)
@@TheModelCentreTMC thankyou so much <3
5 pole skew wound motor on an 0-4-0, nice. In the animated segment at 2:32, it suggested the presence of a flywheel. Is that just wishful thinking on my part? The only disappointment is the £120 more for sound fitted.
Most smooth-running quality models are flywheel-fitted these days, unless space is really at a premium inside the model. These models are fitted with a small brass flywheel, and have other clever features like a die-cast saddle tank for extra weight, and removable cab roof (held in place with two magnets!) 👍
Do look good
They run really well too, and these samples hadn't had chance to 'bed in' properly, either... the chassis compensation works a treat!

The cab dimensions don’t look right to my eye
A novelty at best.

Is there any chance TMC could team up with Bachmann and produce some RTC livery coaches or even a RTC livery class 31?
👍
The guy who does the voice-overs is to be commended. He has the perfect tone, voice control and with ownership. Compared with others who attempt to represent their brand, such as Bachmann & Key Model World, this guy is streaks ahead. TMC is an organisation that clearly demonstrates strategic thinking and uses the best to promote its brand. It is evident why TMC is one of my chosen retailers; I trust them. Unlike Hornby, Bachmann & Dapol, which fails to focus on the customer, TMC shines through.
Thanks Richard and TMC 👍
Nice🎉
I spotted this video in recommendations but not in notifications, even though I have you subscribed with notifications on. I've heard this happen to other YT channels before now. Anyway, very nice locos.
Thanks for pointing this out. Could try to unsubscribe, then re-subscribe to see if it makes a difference to notifications? Select 'All notifications' as option when subscribing might make a difference?
@@TheModelCentreTMC That was the recommendation from the other YT channel to folk who had that issue there. I wasn't one of them on that occasion but I've taken that fix action anyway. I just thought I would mention it in case you guys were wondering why you weren't seemingly reaching your normal audience numbers.
Thanks :) In fairness, we've never really pushed TH-cam until now - but we're glad to have you onboard our journey to bring (hopefully!) great content to the channel :)
It's a lovely looking model
Thanks Nick - so many variants to choose from, too! www.themodelcentre.com/rail/oo-gauge/limited-editions?range=84
Do they make the steam generator as a separate retrofit
Not yet at least, but you never know...
they never changed the smoke chimney over to the one supposed to be used when using the steam generator, so by not swapping it over what damage will occur?
Very interesting video but not really a 'review'.
Do these work on a dc layout please? I have asked everywhere and no one seems to know
Don't see why not but I'm taking an educated guess. In defence of my assumption, it's, forgive me, not their first Rodeo as there's been a number of appearances of these magic reality locos in the past. You know, back when even Zero-1 digital control was little more than a smut in the eyes of Hornby et al.
Hi Luke - we know! :) These are DCC-only locomotives, so avoid placing on an analogue layout.
I have owned HO locos with dynamic smoke for 15 years. I put one on TH-cam 14 years ago. I just popped down to my layout room and checked the instructions for one I bought 7 years ago, a Broadway Limited model. It can run on DC and the smoke will work, but DCC is recommended. Or they suggest getting something called a DC Master which is a device that fits between your DC controller and the track and allows you to access many of the features of a DCC sound loco. The last HO steamer I bought about 5 years ago has clouds of steam coming from the cylinders on starting off as well as dynamic smoke. If you do go over to DCC I suggest you avoid any Hornby controllers. Most things Hornby are 15 to 20 years behind the rest of the world. Look at Lenz, ESU or even Bachman which owns ESU and has similar controllers with fewer features at a much lower price. Almost any loco you have bought in the last 15 years will be DCC ready. So all you have to do is plug in a decoder. Your model shop will show you how easy it is.
Hi Guys. Love to have a steam generator loco. I'm on dc only though.☹ ....Pete....
Hi Pete, we have a great deal on the universally-loved NCE Powercab: www.themodelcentre.com/nce5240042 Just saying.... ;)
This is genuinely impressive - dynamic steam which appears to scale very realistically. Fantastic layout to demonstrate it on as well. My only concern would be whether over time moisture from the unit would affect scenery items on the layout.
Yes I have to agree, I have got the Flying Scotsman on pre-order but did wonder about the possible long term damage from steam vapour especially if you use card models built with PVA glue. I live abroad where it can be very hot and stopped using card kits as the are susceptible to the heat causing the glue to weaken so I know from experience that some conditions can cause problems.
There's so little being emitted, you'd have to run it for an incredibly long time for it to become a problem. The 5mL reservoir lasted a good 30 mins during filming and still wasn't empty...
@themodelcentretmc Thanks for the info! That's very encouraging. Hornby should be congratulated on this, it's a major step forward to fully immersive 4mm model steam locos.
@@TheModelCentreTMC Thanks for that, it's good to know and very encouraging. Looking forward to receiving my loco and giving it a full workout.
The next level up from this would be to have a small amount of steam exit from the loco's whistle whenever the button for whistle blow is pressed on the DCC controller.
Safety valves and cylinder purge valves first over whistle, surely? 😂
@@TheModelCentreTMC If there's a sound file for it, then in the words of Captain Picard, make it so
@@TheModelCentreTMCDefinitely cylinders first!
Great video. Don't you need to remove the chimney and replace it with one that is for the smoke generator though?
It appear not thankfully.
Yes, it's recommended, but we were curious to see if it would work or not. As can be seen, a very small amount of water vapour is diverted, but that's all and we can live with how this looks quite well 😎
Yes I agree looks much better with the original chimney doesn’t it. Good idea 👍🏻 😊
I noticed this too and it puzzles me as to why we need to bother switching chimneys. It didn't seem to adversely affect either the running quality or the smoke effect.
@@NewModelRailway1 I agree I guess you’d have to buy one and try it for yourself. It’s probably more efficient smoke effects if it has the larger chimney, perhaps it stops water droplets from forming or something
Really great promotional video guys, looking forward to seeing plenty more

Hi, why are Bachmann trying to keep up with Accurascale? Seems to be the same things in their announcements, Bachmann are sitting on so many great items in their vaults that modellers would love to get their hands on like the biggest range of RTC livery coaches, a classic RTC class 08 that is a gem, newly tooled class 37 with excellent working roof fans, a class 37 in network rail yellow and the class 37 in Europhoenix silver livery and the only class 37 DB Schenker red livery loco that has been ignored since Bachmann last released it, even if these items were released in the collectors club it would be a bonus because modellers are be showered with coal wagons and vent vans way too much now and it’s getting stale, N gauge have a way better selection than 00 now because the manufacturers are not interested in what the enthusiasts want and keep trying to out do each other!
Do people really spend £30 each on one wagon?
No. They all remain on the shelves of retailers and in the Bachmann warehouse in Astermouth.
Not anymore.
I don't have that kind of money to waste....
Not a chance in hell. I used to pay £7-9 for them and I think £15 for the Queen Mary guards van, up to about £22 for ballast / hopper wagons, new and thankfully bought alot back in the day. I also build kits eg Parkside Dundas at £10-12 for some interest. Conversely, I have pre-ordered 3x the Class 69; can't believe they wont be out this year seeing the EP's but I guess it gives me even more time to save up ;-) Will be installing Hornby Class 66 sound decoders to save a few bob too...
Nice Mk1s but I bet they’re not £18 any more?!!
Class 20’s are fab
And the west coast railways mk1s with central door locks
Will the West Coast Railways coaches be modelled in their prototypically dilapidated condition? (Sorry, Cough)
We can complete rolling stock ordered through us to any finish you desire! (Central Door Locking optional ;) )
BR PALVAN is a most welcomed addition (deluxe weathered by TMC of course)! 👍 It would be nice to see Crimson Lake & Cream BR Mk1 coaches with SR numbering including sets - the set information is available on BloodandCustard. 🙂
Wouldn't be nice if Bachmann introduced a simple lighting system for their mk 1 coaches, especially the West Coast and coaches with passengers. The DCC fitted were over engineered and too expensive
I see no new tooled steam model by big b?
Quite agree with Tony, TMC's weathering is excellent having many examples on Ewhurst Green! In terms of the Southern Electric stock TMC have got it down to a fine art including the disparities on end-gangway rubbing plates (for example 4 CEP units) and carriage washer's lack of reach across the intermediate ends of 2 EPB /2HAP stock.....
Thanks for the kind comment! We love hearing from customers who are enjoying their models - perhaps something we can explore for a mini-series?
@@TheModelCentreTMC Interesting idea. 👍 Chris Duncan has my private contact details and have sent him a 'heads-up' e-mail for future reference. ⚡
It's nice to see '0' gauge making an appearance, we nead more.👍🏻🙂 Thank you.
Are you an O gauge modeller? This is OO gauge...
This is a new Heljan oo gauge 47 release is it not? Forgive me if I missed that in the video description. More I see it the more I want one( BR green small panel unweathered with sound :) )
Hi Alan, indeed it is! If you're tempted, visit our website to browse our current stock of standard and customised new Heljan Class 47s. We really like them 🙂
Superb!
Some of those models are stunningly realistic.
Pretty good. I think if the diesels and livery are weathered, so should the platforms.
