Sir, I apologize and absolutely no disrespect but part of my, not crippling PTSD, is that I can't listen to or follow multiple people talking at once, picture the VIEW. Another is someone talkin but the storyline jumps around. I even talk like that myself sometimes but sadly I cannot follow your super interesting story. Not your fault but mine. Panama was hot, sticky very few places I ever sweated as much as Panama. We hunted for the "Battalion 2000" for over three months. They just up and disappeared. From the first night all Army units in country were on the alert for the Battalion 2000 guys and to this day I don't think we ever ran into any of them. Most Panamanians' didn't want to fight with the American's they knew better. We had Panama born guys in our units they were invaluable. Even had their families come to visit their soldiers. Our battalion ended up losing 11 guys when their helos went down (in a thunderstorm) to training accident. Yeah still out hunting Bat 2000, live ammo cordon and search but the war was over and Higher didn't want more deaths totaled into the little incursion.

Truth is...The most important warriors are the Intel folks, the comm guys, and the transportation assets...Thats why in the unit the shooters are just another entity..however they get all the glory and can write books and go on social media...lol

My M.I. unit from the 7th ID was there and I missed it b/c I got to the unit about three months late.

I'm sure the people making decisions are never wrong about people. They know everything and understand all there is to know about people.

Hookstead, you nor anyone else is going to convince me that Delta is better than ST6. It flat doesn’t make sense. The training that both of these units go through and the work put in is unbelievable. One thing for sure is you have no idea what you say.

I flew many times from the green zone to griffin helipad near the airport. Every trip to Baghdad seemed to involve at least one run like that. I'm thinking people higher on the pecking order got a ride from us. The green zone was a busy LZ in 2004-2005.

i refuse to believe it's the best of the best. It's all about politics. The people in there are either absolute boy scouts or the nastiest evil devils. I'd bet it has nothing to do with merit, but to do with their ability to control you, to blackmail you, etc. OR you are a perfect angel and they only want people that have never done anything wrong in their entire life.

The U.S army has more weapons obviously. The real problem trump will have this shit is who is bought and who is not. Alot of people bend to money and not loyalty. This is the cartel they have been around for decades they had alot of time and people to prepare for the declaration of war against them. The U.S. Army will obviously win this war and fight but like all fights there will be damage done to both sides it will not be an easy fight.

When we deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and fought COIN I always thought it was useless. Cultural difference's between west and middle east were too great, different religions etc. It was also on the other side of the world, too much money and distance to sustain. Mexico is in the US backyard. That is sustainable to see through and the cultures are not that different. I always thought COIN can work, but the cultures can't be vastly different. The US could successfully pull of COIN in North or South America.

I honestly think the cartels will put up a bigger fight than people in the comments think. If you have a home field advantage and the balls to go for it, history has shown you can give a technological superior enemy a run for their money. The American Revolutionary War, Korean War, Vietnam, Afghanistan, ect.
