Advocating for Autism Caregivers.
Color the Experience is a non profit festival for autism families and caregivers, founded by Tabitha Zeigler, in Covington, Indiana.
The festival creates safe experiences for children and families with autism, where they can be themselves and celebrate themselves.
Music, art, cultural activities: these and more are used to make a safe space for kids to feel welcome, supported and part of the community.
Realizing that this type of programming and community event was lacking, especially in small towns, in August, 2024 Tabitha set out to create a new experience in her own small town of Covington, 80 miles west of Indianapolis.
Musicians, artists and performers came from across the region to participate, and friends from across the country and even Canada arrived to help make sure everything ran smoothly.
Color The Experience was such a success that it will be taking place again, in August of 2025. Tabitha's goal is for it to become a regular highlight of the calendar for families in Indiana and Illinois, to come together and find community, connection and support.
"We need places where we feel safe and heard," says Tabitha, who will continue expanding her reach, sharing her story and connecting with others, through this TH-cam channel, a podcast, a newsletter and further platforms.
In this four-part miniseries, "My Caregiving Journey: Raising Three Children With Autism," Indiana native Tabitha Zeigler introduces herself and her story, to provide inspiration, support and empathy to fellow caregivers.

Part 3 focuses on mental health and resiliency, and remembering to look after yourself, too, especially when you're a full time caregiver. Don't let yourself be defined exclusively by that part of your life.
