Love bakugan
Akihiko is quite possibly the MOST useful for me. Debufs, ok magic, great striking damage, and can heal a decent bit. He never leaves my party unless i absolutely need a certain team for a boss.
id rather use aki over mitsuru... aki can actually deal damage, mitsuru is basically only good for rakunda
Glad I found this, I was searching for a video like this months ago, I was quite overwhelmed with everything in persona 3 so I kinda gave up in it for a while but I think I can start again from here, I also like how you incorporated mitsuru's voice, although it's kinda wonky but it's a nice touch, caught e outro as well 🫡
Glad the video was useful. I basically went through the same thing when I first played the game. Got a few months in then quit because I realized I "wasted" a bunch of in-game time. So I went and did all the research and then later figured I should make some more digestible videos for people in a similar situation. Yeah, the AI stuff was kinda fun to mess around with. But ripping the voice files from the game and then converting them to a usable format was a pain 😅 Not sure if I'm going to do it for future videos. But I like the idea of using Sophia in future videos to help keep things interesting for the viewer. And it makes sense to use AI voice for an AI character.
At least put the man in B tier, he still does alot of damage and tarunda is great for lowering boss damage. he also gets more damage out of being buffed compared to everyone else and now that mc cant switch weapons he provides coverage for Strike and his best weapon gives Strike Amp(?) put some Tarukabellion Boots on and away he goes.also his Theurgies can kill pretty much most things in one hit. without Ice break Mitsuru finds herself with almost no damage output and ailments never work on bosses most of the time
Yukari sucks for me 🤣 just used her to heal outside of battle, her damage is so bad 💀
Should i go into tartus everyday or should i pick a certain day and try to get far into tartus
You should pick a day and get as far as you can into the current block of Tartarus. In the early game it's hard to do because of a lack of SP and people getting tired. But as you get further in the game both of these things become less of an issue. But the reason to do it all in one day is because that way you have more time to raise your social stats to hang out with more people. Or to hang out with the two social links only available at night.
Mitsuru is cursed by the fact that magic was for some reason severly nerfed in this game compared to the original p3 + her losing access to ice amp ( literally the while thing that seperated her from Yukari as a mage in the original is the fact that she got access to both Ice Boost and Ice Amp while Yukari has to sacrifice bith her weapon and accessory to get them ) despite the fact that being a magic nuke is literally the only thing she has going for her, as she doesnt get any sort of utility outside of ailment skills that dont even affect bosses anyway. All dyne skills nerfed from 320 all the way down to 220 and all the severe magic spells nerfed from 650 to 600. This isnt helped by the fact that Atlus also decided to REALLY buff physical skills , for examole Gods Hand not only being buffed from 600 to 800, but also Atlus deciding to give physical skills boost/amp passives as well ( despite the fact that the only reason why physical skills have heigher bp than magic skills is solely to account for the absence of boosting passives ) this while also having crit boosting passives while Magic cant actually deal critical hits . Mitsurus whole entire point is to be a magic " nuke ", this completely falls apart in Reload because not only does she lose out on Ice Amp which means taht she has fo sacrifice an accessory/weapon slot just to comoensate, but also the fact that because of the massive physical buff ALL the ohysical party members outdamage her ( while none of the part member have access to any phys boost/amp abilites you can still give it to them via accessories ) in fact not only does Junpei VASTLY outdamages Mitsuru now, but Akihiko and Aigis ALSO outdamage her now with their physical attacks now, despite damage not even being their speciality. And while all the magic nerfs also affect Yukari, Koromaru and Ken they all have something else going for then ( theurgy attacks and healing ) so Mitsuru is the one who gets hit the hardest All this effectively transforms Mitsuru into a pure """ nuke """ that ranks 4th in the actual damage dealing department behind other members who still have a ton of other things to offer on top if their burst damage. You put her in B but honestly ? I feel like she deserves to be in D, she's legit the worst party member by a long margin
Thanks for the long post! I'll try to respond in an intelligent fashion. I think that magic in the original P3 was too good in comparison to physical. So I understand Atlus wanting to make physical skills better. Honestly I hope that P6 carries forward the physical as three different types as well as the support skills for each type like we've seen in P3R and now Metaphor. That said I'm not sure if the nerfs to magic were necessary. I agree with you that Mitsuru doesn't have enough damage output compared other party members and she doesn't have a unique skill that makes her worth using against bosses. I will say her unique characteristic does work well with Junpei for random enemies and certain bosses that are weak to ailments. But Junpei doesn't need her to be good. She doesn't even have access to debilitate outside of her second Theurgy. I don't know if I can put her in D though. One problem I had with this tierlist is that the difficulty felt so flat for P3R on my first playthrough. Between Theurgy and actually using the DLC personas I paid for, even Hard was really easy to a veteran like me. To the point where it actually changed how approach playing new Atlus games, ignoring all DLC personas until after beating the game once. That said, P3R base game is much easier than it's original PS2 counterpart. While playing through Episode Aigis recently I picked the Heartless difficulty and avoided using the DLC Personas until I got to Joker. I enjoyed that experience quite a bit more than P3R's version of Tartarus. Although that's partially due to other changes made compared to base game, but that's a whole other discussion. But I didn't use her much there either as Metis could hit Ice weaknesses and I had her in the party the entire time. Overall, as sad as it is, I think you're right that Mitsuru is the worst party member. I mean outside of Akihiko, who I didn't place properly, she WAS the one I put at the bottom. Such a shame as she was one of the best party members in the original. ..... As long as you properly scanned enemies so she wouldn't Marin Karin spam. 😅
D for DEAD. Love it!
Xccxxxx
Yoshitune is definitely one of them
I’m starting FES soon and am grateful to find helpful beginner info for the PS2 version. Thanks! I love this game but it’s overwhelming to start. 😅
That's what it's there for! Hope you enjoy the game.
I can smell the jar
Yukari es insufrible, me da igual que sea muy buena o lo que sea la quito en cuanto pueda de mi equipo
Lo siento, no hablo español. But if I understand correctly you're not a fan of Yukari. I'm not a fan of her myself. I think her attitude is really horrible in the original game. I think she's better here due to some changes in the translation and better direction for the VA. She's less needlessly harsh than she was before. However, lots of people didn't like her because of what she did during The Answer. So we'll see if they made that any better when the DLC comes out.
Persona 2 was the craziest game of the series
Yeah it really was, P4 was pretty crazy as well...P5 was my favorite and I'm waiting to see just how Atlus will top it with P6.

Informative video
i read that vanilla persona 3 is hard to maxed out every social links.i think it's because of the scheduling.
Same with FES. I think it wasn't intended to be possible only on NG+ since this was their first time trying this system. There is an old guide that shows you how to do all the social links but it's pretty strict for the first 3/4ths of the game and includes tactics like manipulating the rng of people calling you to hang out so you can get enough points to rank up later. What usually happens for me at the end of the game is there will be just some days where I have no one to hang out with because I've done them all while the last one or two have some overlapping days so it's impossible to do both in time.
Hey i just started should i play the game blind or should i watch youtube videos before i play just wanted to know can't find the answer on google
@@thelastofitskind3034 I would stay as blind as possible to the plot. But if you want to get the most out of social links on a first playthrough you'll probably need to do a little research on when people are available and what the fastest way to raise social stats is. Not to toot my own horn but I have a few video on both those topics that have little to no story spoilers. So maybe check those out. Of course for some people the fun comes in figuring out things for yourself and just bumbling around and exploring. I just like to understand the mechanics in a game I play so I can get the most out of them and see as much of the content as possible. So it comes down to personal preference. There is NG+ so if you feel inclined to replay the game to see everything you missed on a first playthrough that'll make it easier. There's even a new super boss only available on NG+, so there's that as well. Either way hope you enjoy the game!
Thank you man i appreciated @@boxorileys
@boxorileys I subscribed but your subscribed didn't went up maybe a glitch
The strongest party I had was doggo, junpei and ken. No other party is as strong as this. Crit machine, crit machine buffer (doggo) and full heal plus shield every 3 turns (ken) is absolutely bonkers. Yukari hardly makes it to A tier compared to that. Sorry. Physical damage is different league over magic, thats why yukari is way worse then you believe sir.
dude I first played the game when I didn't even know English and now seeing this it explains so much about how japan is the land of the multiple suns.
This list is good except aki is way to low and jumpei and shinjiro is way to high all 3 should be switched and mistsuru in my opinion is A tier junpei and shinjiro are the worst in the game junpei really only gets attacking moves like pierce and slash but not like it really matters since aki just does it better. All he really got going for him is a defense buff but again aki does it better. Being able to crit does help him tho
Aki does not do offense as well as Junpei. Torrent Shot dramatically outdoes anything Aki does until Gigantic Fist (lv39) but literally 1 level later Junpei gets Blade of Fury which is an absurdly strong Skill that outdoes Aki till Strike Amp Gloves then a little under 10 levels later Junpei outdamages him again and it stays that way. He is on Avg the best Dps in the game and since there’s barely any pushback to going Phys he’s consistently strong with his variety of Phys skills. He also has the Strongest Theurgy in the game with Hack n Blast outdoing even the Mc (Without Dlc).
can you share the fusion route of your Trumpeter
Cool =3
How did you carry your data over. I tried that for new game plus but it is still making me restart everything
Are you trying to do NG+ on Merciless? Merciless only lets you carry over outfits and a few gifts from people IIRC.
@@boxorileys ohh
The best personas are obviously in the last 1/3 of the compendium. But what i like to do is commit to a persona that i like the design of and then keep it for the whole game. I picked Titania and Oberon in P4
In P4G especially it's easy to use only one or two personas throughout the entire game thanks to how shuffle time works. It's a failing on the game's part since I think what sets SMT/Persona apart from Pokemon, at least partially, is the flexibility of personas. That and being able (and having to) use different personas or demons to overcome a new boss or challenge. That said Persona should be easier than the SMT games so they can continue to appeal to a wide audience, and playthroughs restricting yourself to a few different or one persona can be fun/interesting, especially on replaying the game.

Needing some tips against TABLE, i am doing a yamatano orochi run, and boi. That table... It _hurts_
My tier list of the party members: 1. Yukari: With Healing Apex she can heal allies all the time she want and she charges her Theurgy every time she heals someone, which is the fastest character in charging her Theurgy, her wind skills are really good and she can give Concentrate to all the party and my favorite Persona girl in the franchise ❤❤❤💖💖💖👑👑👑 2. Koromaru: His dark and fire skills are really good, he has Debilitate to decrease all the enemy stats, Power Howl to give Charge to all allies, Revolution to increase the critical rate and he charges his Theurgy attacking the enemy weakness. 3. Ken: A really versatile character, Divine Intervention is easily the best Theurgy in the game without counting the Armageddon, he has Heat Riser to increase all the stats of one ally, Tetrakarn and Makarakarn. 4. Aigis: She's resistent to all the type of physical attacks, which is good, her characteristic increase the damage of her physical skills and she charges her Theurgy making physical attacks and with her Orgia Mode she becomes dangerous. 5. Fuuka: Her navigator skills are so much better than in the original and all her random buffs are so good, giving Heat Riser to all allies, Charge and Concentrate to all allies and completely restore and revive all allies with all the HP and SP. 6. Junpei: With his characteristic, he can become a critical hit machine, sadly that's the only thing good for him, his magic stat is really low. 7. Akihiko: He's not a bad party member, his electric and physical skills are still good and he's able to heal allies. 8. Mitsuru: She's the strongest magic attacker, but is not really well done, her characteristic is probably the worst, because the ailments in strong enemies and bosses are completely useless and she has Concentrate, but Yukari can give Concentrate to all the party members, so this doesn't make sense, sorry Mitsuru fans. 9. Shinjiro: He's a good party member, but just because you can only use him in one month is the reason why is in the bottom.
Mitsuru's great to keep around for random Tartarus fights since her characteristic makes it even easier to crit enemies you ambush and her theurgy charges really quick.
time to make a case for yukari being bad and mitsuru being good healing is so whatever in most fights. and fights you do need healing for items generally replicate it. not even like a lot of items either. they are cheap, you get a bunch from tartarus, and not every fight requires healing. outside of straight healing yukari...doesn't do much? poison bow is pretty great early on. group concentrate is good but comes VERY late. other than the she heals and does chip damage. also when ken joins hes better by like every metric and i also don't think ken is particularly good outside of divine intervention. mitsuru is more or less a rakunda bot. but mitsuru casting rakunda in a lot of fights (hierophant, lovers, chariot/justice, lots of midgame tartarus fights) is doing more than yukari or junpei can with their whole kit at that point in the game. she has other positives too. ailments while not useful for the whole game have their niche in the first half. she gets bufula pretty early so her damage output when she joins before you have access to super strong physical skills is pretty good. she falls off as the game goes on because she just can't keep up in damage and her skill list is so bloated with ailments and physical skills that just aren't very useful. but even then in a context where you say aren't grinding then just being able to cast rakunda is pretty good. you don't need to give her any special equipment for her to lower enemy defense, where as ken really wants light boost, junpei really wants slash boost, etc. mitsuru is not going to hit big flashy numbers vs endgame enemies but if you consider her contributions throughout the entire game i think shes really good and in a context where you don't grind shes one of the best characters in the game sorry for wall of text
No problem about the wall, I appreciate the time taken to write it all out. I think in retrospect maybe Yukari could have been dropped down to A tier. I think Mitsuru is good, just a little below the others in the late game. I mean I go back and forth on whether I like Mitsuru or Aigis more in this game. And I can't stand Yukari in FES, so the tierlist was just from a gameplay perspective 😂 But yeah, dropping defense is always useful and her second Theurgy is good for bosses. Good support and decent damage, but less useful in random battles. That's why I put her in B. In retrospect Atlus did such a good job balancing party members in this game I think this was the worst game I could've chosen to do a party member tierlist on. 😅 Since there's only one or two that stand above the rest with the rest bring pretty good.
@@crowidiot ken is better with that shield in theurgy. You are right, yukari is not good
You can set Kens Sp low via Hp equipment (Equip Hp - Use Healing Skill -Unequip Hp -repeat). He also has faster Theurgy Charge than Yukari and its actually fast enough be be spammed (so no need to really save it just pop it off). He also generally does more Damage than Yukari despite what her Mag may suggest. (The only point where Yukari does more is the period where she has access to Wind Amp accessories and Ken doesn’t but even then its a negligible amount).
Interesting, that Ken min-maxing is fun, if mostly unnecessary 😆 He definitely has better coverage than Mitsuru and find him better for actual fights than Yukari. But her healing powers are quite ridiculously good at times.
@@boxorileys to go all in on Ken min maxing For that Theurgy bit If i recall when facing a Boss if he is under half Max Sp, if theres one enemy debuffed, all party members have a buff, Ken has a Charge or Concentrate he’s willing to not use (these all contribute to Theurgy) and with Soul fortunes 1.3x Theurgy boost he he actually gets his Theurgy every other Turn if he alternates between a Karn Skill and Theurgy. Its really dumb but fun. (Yukari under these conditions can only get hers every 3 turns at most)
Thanks
Hello
Hello :)
Or yall could be me and just say fuck it and have no debuff cures because u never use yukari because shes so rude to junpei and doesnt know how to like ever not be annoying. So you just hope to god an ailment misses ur mc so u can amrita shower
Fuuka is literally the best navigator no other navigator can do as much as she does. Also her theurgy upgrade just has a chance of better buffs and recovery
Rise in Golden is broken if you do all her bike rides. Similar with Futaba if you max out all her stuff. Biggest difference here is rather than a bunch of buffs that randomly proc you have a random buff you can activate on command.
I’m having a hard time getting my thoughts in order concerning P3R. I have lots of little gripes about the game, the most significant being that they adapted the script from Portable, not FES. It is why, among other things, Yukari is talking unnecessarily in the opening cutscene. I liked most of the new VAs with one big exception: I actually miss the old Yukari. Yukari was my favorite character (because I hate myself or something) so I was probably never going to be satisfied with any replacement to begin with. Still, I think there were a lot of improvements to the presentation and gameplay that can’t be overlooked. The style and design is just so cool and the new voiced social links are a big improvement. Your criticism of the gameplay changes was interesting. I would agree that Twilight Shards are underutilized. At the beginning of the game, managing them can be tough, but after a while it becomes a non issue. It would be nice to have extra stuff to spend them on. On one hand, I agree that they could have changed more about the game but I also am glad that a lot of P3 was “preserved.” Not that Reload is a 1:1 remake or anything, but I think there are a lot of unique little things about P3 that come together to make something that is better than the sum of its parts. Thankfully ATLUS did not add in the typical rerelease girl character like Kasumi or Marie. Maybe when the Answer is released in a few months I will have a clearer picture, but overall I enjoy playing Reload and if had to recommend a version of P3 for a friend to play, I would pick Reload.
Yeah, even with this long video, I still haven't fully sorted out my thoughts. I think I need to wait for The Answer to come out. I also want to go back and replay FES and Portable sometime later this year in preparation for a full retrospective some time next year. That's a lot of P3 though so we'll see. I'm not a huge fan of Yukari in FES but I have issues with Akihiko's new VA so I understand. There were similar sentiments when it came to Chie's VA being changed in Golden. Although there that was more understandable since the VA's line reads were in conflict with how she's written. I feel like there's always going to be a certain amount of nostalgia or familiarity with whichever one came first. It's kinda like when a book gets adapted to film or a TV show, they always look and sound a bit different than you imagined them in your head. I think the visuals and presentation are absolutely magnificent. Little sad that the revolver chamber for the battle menu is gone but that's a nitpick. I always thought that P5R looked great but struggles in the story pacing and gameplay some. So seeing a P5 coat of paint applied to P3 was really exciting. I think some of the Tartarus changes were overall good, but they didn't go far enough and the Monad doors being a replacement rather than an addition really doesn't work IMO. On retrospect I think when I talk about games like this again I need to balance out the criticism a bit more. I feel like I glossed over some of the good things they did or are inherent to P3's design. I'm going to try and keep that in mind when I eventually make a video about The Answer DLC. As I said at the end I would also recommend friends pick up P3R, just on sale probably. I have a friend who wants to try the Persona series but can't get past the look of the PS2 graphics. So having a version of my favorite Persona game that's been modernized will hopefully be a good jumping on point for a lot of people. Especially if the rumors about P6 being released in the next couple years are true...🤞
@@boxorileys Before Reload came out, I did another playthrough of FES with the HD textures mod and controllable party. I wanted to play what I thought would be the minimal viable product for a P3 remake that could serve as a comparison to Reload. Obviously, Reload blew everything out of the water, but I still think that experience provided a good frame of reference for looking at Reload. I agree with your take on the VA situation, I think it is applicable to a lot of my little gripes. I miss the old animated cutscenes and preferred the way some scenes were done in FES, but these complaints aren’t really objective in any sense. A new player would most likely not care at all. I also missed the revolver chamber bit, even if it is kinda unintuitive at first. I wish they kept some parts of the gun theme in the UI, but the new UI is still pretty damn slick. It is funny that you mention pacing. Everyone complains about P3’s pacing but I think it is mostly fine, maybe a little slow between Yakushima and October and again in December. All of the modern Persona games have pacing issues. You mentioned P5 already but P4 is extremely slow in the beginning and the team meeting scenes get old after a while. Pacing issues come with stories that take place over the course of a whole year. You brought up a good point with the Monad doors. I agree with you that the Monad doors aren’t a replacement for the EX-Dungeon. I do think they are a cool addition though, but Monad should have still been included. You gave your thoughts concerning Theurgies, but I was wondering if you thought they were a good addition. I think it is pretty cool that they are refilled faster based on certain thematically appropriate conditions. They range from kinda broken to being useless (i.e. both of Akihiko’s theurgies and Mitsuru’s 2nd theurgy being almighty is kinda bad). You might be right that making them fill up faster, but not being able to carry the charge would be balanced, but I think that it would end up making Theurgies exclusive to boss fights and remove a lot of their flexibility. I’m not sure what to do to “balance” them or if they need to be balanced at all, but overall, I like their addition to the game. I have no IRL friends who play JRPGs, but it is nice to have P3R, something with more modern presentation and accessible gameplay, to show them. The appeal of P3FES is still there of course, but it is a harder sell for casual audiences. I’m looking forward to P6 as well and I’m especially looking forward to The Answer. I wonder what the devs are going to do with Metis, is her kit going to be mostly the same? I read somewhere that Metis will get two Theurgies. One is obviously Orgia Mode, but I wonder what the other will be. Only time will tell.
@@NovaKaiser21 Ah that reminds me, I still want to finish up the FES tutorials with a guide on getting the controllable party members and wide screen etc working. I have to do that for myself anyway since I need to do an off screen playthrough of FES for a couple videos in the future. I also miss the animated cutscenes. Some of the 3D animation stuff is really good, like the death scene in front of Tartarus(being vague for spoiler reasons). But I do miss the animated cutscenes for things like the awakening cutscenes like I mentioned in the video. I think Theurgies are a form of a mechanic in other RPGs. The "action bar" "energy gauge" etc. A way to build up momentum for a large attack that otherwise outstrips any normal attack. I think it could work but is overtuned here. Like I mentioned in the video, the gauge should start from 0 each fight. So you can't nuke bosses turn one. Maybe add a couple skills that let it charge faster or start at like 10%? I think outside of Theurgy the game is pretty balanced actually. And genuinely requires some preparation and thought on Hard and Merciless, it's just Theurgies can trivialize most fights in the game as is. Yeah I have a few online friends who play RPGs and things, and obviously the people who hang out in streams and stuff. I think P3FES and especially Portable will be appealing to those who already emulate and/or have tight budgets. But it will be nice to point people who haven't tried the Persona series to this game. As for Metis, in the original she was a combination of Aigis and Akinari with some magic thrown in. So I'd expect something similar here. As for the second Theurgy it'll probably be something like Aigis's, a physical damaging type. I wouldn't expect anything too crazy from it. I'm personally more wondering about characteristics and how that will work for The Answer. My current thought is that everyone will start out with the first one, and then get the second one as the plot progresses. And Metis will get her's as the plot progresses.
Its crazy how ALL of these rankings are wrong except Yukari and MC 😭
Where would you put everyone else?
Well, ANSWER US
It is good... Yukari is now understandable!
Yeah, Yukari is a lot better in this version of the game. The VA is a lot less harsh in delivery and some of her rough edges have been sanded off. I'm interested to see if they did the same in The Answer. Since a lot of people didn't like Yukari specifically because of how she behaved there.
