I'll give this one a try some day. I have never liked reading books. I finished reading the Hobbit, now I am reading The fellowship of the ring. I like the fellowship of the ring way more than I thought I would. After the LOTR books I will hop over to the second book in The Stormcrow Archive. I listened to the first book on Audible and I found it enjoyable. I am not sure when I will start on The Wheel of Time. I want to give it at shot but it does sound like there are a lot of unnecessary information in those books. But I want to give it a chance. I found that I enjoy reading on a Kobo Sage 8 inch more than physical books. Maybe that is what made me enjoy reading.

I could really do some damage to your collection were I more wealthy, lol😉 ! As I am now retired, I’m reading Tolkien’s books for the first time in their totality. Absolutely LOVE anything by Tolkien. Started reading his works through his linguistic work; in particular, his translations of Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Read both in college, but (ahem) it’s been a few years ago. Thought I’d dust off the volumes. What a genius Tolkien was! (The late Christopher Tolkien as well.) Wish you were closer so I could browse your stellar collection.

Swan Song is my favorite book of all time. I hope you enjoy it. It is compared to The Stand a lot but I think it is more consistently entertaining than that. The Empire of the vampire series is gritty, fast paced and brutal and really dismal aged the genre from being too romance heavy like Twilight

I hope his recovery is going well! I've also recently purchased his novels and have started reading the Forgetting Moon. Something I noticed is that the Lonesome Crown is actually the longest, but it's not as big of a book, they used thinner paper. 😅 I love the format of these books, it's very easy to follow when and where a character's story is taking place, complete with a map of his very detailed world.

1. How can 1994 be movie versions? 2. How can 2005 and 2014 bothe be 50th Anniversary Editions. 3. As far as I know, every version will have the black printed Moria door picture and the family trees and language texts as part of the appendix.

It's sad to see him go through his journey like this. I've been watching Durfree for a couple years now. Also I do enjoy his books so I can see where they can look intimidating. The first two were good reads, though so I had recently bought the third one. Worth it.

Clint Kadel is just another goob from Moultrie Ga who started BUDK in his grandma's basement with a cheep bowie knife from Pakistan being his first big seller.. He built on that for years with his addictive BUDK catalogue, that almost every red necked boy in America had next to their basement toilet. Somehow, he bought Untied Cutlery on impulse. I remember him telling me that he hoped that somehow TLOTR would spur on the sword market, which had taken a dive at the time... Only in America!

$200 isn't 'cheap' but real combat ready swords can run into the many thousands. So it's a good looking prop blade for sure.

I've got the old dark red edition in the slip case. It was a Christmas present from my parents, after I wore out my original paperback copies. I've reread that book probably a dozen times over the years. The only other one volume edition I have is the new white cover edition with illustrations by the author.

Oh wow, I grew up with my dad's '70s Ballantine paperbacks, and never imagined they were ever issued in a box. And a really pretty one at that! Thanks for schooling us on Tolkien history!

How does a 1994 book have movie covers when they came out in the 2000s???

Would you get the 2014 illustrated edition or the 2022 edition (either one)?

I'm not a fan of books printed in China, always seem to have quality issues. Does anyone else have the same problem? Regardless I'm jealous of this collection.

I got my 2020 Illustrated Alan Lee edition today, and I have to say I cannot remember ever being this impressed simply by opening a book.

I was looking for this amazing illustrated boxed set of 2020 but unfortunatly it doesn't exist in french .... it is a true disappointment because i have never seen a book set that beautiful .... it is not the first time i will tell it but the editors in your country are far superior in term of quality !
