Affinity Designer to Lightburn Workflow and Considerations
In this video we clean up and merge objects in Affinity Designer to ensure that what we see in Designer is what we get out of Lightburn. This covers layer and object management, palettes, Booleans and Knockouts, Node tool base cleanup, and Lightburn layer execution order.

Creating a city map for use in a laser using Maperitive and Affinity Designer
มุมมอง 701ปีที่แล้ว
NOTE: I've significantly modified my workflow and my rules files recently in an attempt to further refine this process. I will be re-producing this video with the modifications and new content as soon as possible. (2024/07/22) In this tutorial I show my workflow for creating maps for use in our laser. I accomplish this by exporting OpenStreetMap data into a simplified SVG using Maperitive softw...
Converting a 1/4" shape to 1/8" in Affinity Designer

The Great American Flag is an 84,000 sq ft flag created by Anchor industries in 1980. It was later purchased on eBay on July 4, 2001 by Ted Dorfman, shortly before the 9/11 attacks. The flag was last seen at the Flight 93 memorial on the 1 year anniversary of 9/11. Today, 9/14/2019, the flag was unfurled at Advanced Carbide Grinding in Derry, PA where the flag will be stored. Thanks for this video! Clean workforce and well explained. I'd have loved to see the finished product once cut and burnt.

    Where did you find the m22 lens retention ring? I can't find them anywhere.

      Yeah, that one is/was a challenge that I kinda cheated with ... For our 100 watt 2440, I'd ordered an extra lens tube that came with one of the retainers. Because I also couldn't find one alone to order, I permaently borrowed the retainer from the extra tube. www.cloudraylaser.com/products/cloudray-c-series-co2-lens-tube-outer-diameter-24mm?_pos=5&_sid=f0676b082&_ss=r

    Is that a typical 3 way solenoid, with an exhaust? You just use the Normally Open outlet with a needle valve and shut-off valve? Great info, thanks?

    • @seanmullen2561
      @seanmullen2561 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I actually bought the 'cloudray ultimate air assist' kit from Amazon that included most of the parts. The solenoid is 3 way - one input and then 2 output. Solenoid off, the air goes out one port to the needle valve, solenoid on, air goes full blast out the other. The needle valve out then Ts back into the line leaving the full blast out. So, solenoid off, you get low flow to keep lens clean (air off in light burn). Air on in lightburn, solenoid on, you get full pressure.

    Hi Sean I'm looking to buy a 60 watt Omtech & immediately replace the glass tube with a Synrad 60 watt air cooled tube. Question I have is from the base of the cabinet that the glass tube holders to the middle of the first mirror, would that be a minimum of 2 7/8" by chance? I can't get Omtech to answer that question for me. Thanks

    What solenoid valve is on your 2028? I’d love to find a valve like that as I prep for the arrival of my 80w 3624, as having the low flow and high flow would be awesome

    • @seanmullen2561
      @seanmullen2561 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for huge delay, probably way too late. it's a tailonz 2V025-08. It's a 2 way, not 3. in its closed state, air goes out one opening that has a needle valve greatly restricting flow to a "keep the lens clean" setting. Open, it goes out the second channel fill force for cutting. While a 3 way solenoid would be great to allow off, low, high, I don't think the controller nor the lightburn software can handle controlling that. So, I typically use the regulator to turn the air off when not using the laser and back on when starting (I want to get a decent ball valve to simplify that and reduce wear on the regulator but haven't done so yet.

    • @seanmullen2561
      @seanmullen2561 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The new 2023 lasers (at least some models like the 2028-80) come with this new auto focus. I've been looking around to order one for my older 2440-100 and cannot find them yet.

      ah I have the AF-2028-60W Red/Black and it came with the side auto focus, sometimes that gets in the way when engraving or cutting with your magnets that keep the wood down, this would solve that issue.@@seanmullen2561

    Thanks for this. I just got this same laser today, and will be setting it up this weekend. I was wondering how the laser head came apart as I hadn't seen any videos on that particular AF head. Very cool!

      Glad it helped. I had the same issue so just kept looking at the thing until I noticed the set screw and tried loosening it/unscrewing the barrel. I've learned a few other things since this video and need to make an updated one covering those items. Will try to put that up soon.
