Wicked is a story of overcoming adversity and coming into your own, Cynthia wanted to play Elphaba and audition for the role. I think it’s great story that a lot of black people can relate to definitely.

She got the part just because of her insane talent. But it's also the cherry on top that she's black because people of color, especially black people, understand racism and being judged by others based on the _literal_ color of their skin. You're not totally off the rocker because Elphaba *is* portrayed by the leaders of Oz as the villain. BUT in the musical, she is portrayed by the authors as the hero and the one that we can all relate to as the one who is misunderstood, misjudged, and mistreated. Other people will try to skew the goal of this movie in other ways as well. Christians will try to say that _Wicked_ is trying to make witches seem good when "there is no such thing as a good witch." Certain misogynistic, chauvinistic men will pass this off as "another cookie-cutter, girl-boss, feminist movie." Asians may say that they cast an Asian person as the actual villain. (I'm Asian, so I certainly have knowledge of this topic.) Again, these conclusions are simply not true and are projection at its finest: you can't assume that film studios are portraying something or somebody a certain way to promote your, their, or someone else's agenda. This story has political roots all the way back to even the original Wizard of Oz stories, so to say that a film studio is the one doing all this and not the authors of the actual source material is to be quite naive. SOOO many people see themselves in Elphaba: people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, bullied people, people with deformities or abnormalities, people with disorders, people who have actually been vilified. The list goes on and on! As an Asian person, I could get all upset that Michelle Yeoh is a villain, but she is not THE villain. I could get upset that one of the mean classmates is Asian. But I would be blind not to see the white people as being cast as villains or bullies, too. Only if all the good people were white and the one villain were black would that make this movie a problem, but that's not the situation at all. Also, if a studio makes a beloved (canonically white) character a person of color for absolutely no reason except for diversity, that is obviously a problem. Because there are so many of us who can relate to one or more of these groups, I hope that we can stand united and appreciate this appreciation when it is finally shown.

Black lady being the Witch is actually a perfect casting choice sense the character is supposed to stand-out from everyone else.

As a basic white dude who loves the musical, her being cast as Elphaba is not only a strong decision because she has the talent for it, but absolutely powerful. If you havent seen the musical,you dont quite get how important this role is, she's the good one the whole time. It's one of the most complex characters ever thought of, and I think she's going to knock the role out of the park

First, Cynthia WANTED that role, the character is not only one of the hardest roles to play/sing out there but two, it tells a story of love, betrayal and friendship, ALSO literally is about Elphaba being treated for being different and because of the color of her skin. I highly suggest to look into wicked and see what it is about then re watch. May change your opinion

This guy is a perfect Cpt America. In fullcloser I'm just a white dude, and typicly hate it when WOKE holllywood swaps ol established white characters as a minority or swap a man for a woman. And the way they do it they normally make the white charaters sometimes look stupid. Having said that, the way they switched here was well done. If your gonna do it, this is how. They let us watch this charcter (The Falcon) grow, mature, fight awesome battles with the Avengers, side by side at times with Steve Rodgers Cpt America, and then at the end after we have watched him develop and earn the title, which he most certanily did, Steve Rodgers hands the sheild to Falcon to carry the mantle as Cpt. America was beautifully done. At the end of that last Avengers when that happened I was like, YES this is awesome, I cant wait to see this guy kick as as Cpt America for several movies.

The victim who died was a father protecting his wife and daughter. So devastating! Praying for his family 😢🙏
