The "hell" sequence in Vinland Saga Season 2 helped paint a picture for me of hell in real life, with the Christian God. There is, of course, a real place called Hell, but we don't follow God necessarily JUST because we fear going there, because we're sealed as Christians, nothing can take us away from God unless we ourselves decide to abandon Him. As Christians, we follow a set of rules because we love God. These rules are not for the purpose of God "controlling the masses" as so many atheists like to claim, no, they're a way to prevent us from becoming monsters... because left to our own devices, we are all monsters. What makes us monsters? A lack of love. Love considers others FIRST. Vinland Saga has a great way of teaching this. "Come on! You don't have time to cry. Even if they're hanging off of you, keep climbing! Climb! That's your battle. Go! Take the people you killed with you! Fight your true battle! Become a true warrior, Thorfinn." - Askellad THIS. This is the very heart, the very theme, of the entire Bible, right here. The entire summary of the Christian walk. The most manly, most brave, most noble thing you can do is follow God truly... to become better, to become who you were always meant to be, to live beyond yourself, to live for others. To love God with all your heart, soul and mind. To defeat the monster in yourself, for God makes us free of the darkness.
