For those interested in more about how Nimitz handled Marc Mitscher after Midway and the likely consequences of the fact that Spruance never really trusts Mitscher Trent Hone’s book on Nimitz is excellent on its own right and gives good information on this subject. Craig Symonds book an Nimitz also addresses this in greater detail specifically in terms of Nimitz’s determination not to air the Navy’s dirty laundry in public.
The ubiquitous Jon Parshall. I can't wait to buy his upcoming book "1942"
Jon Parshall, the man, the shirt, the wallpaper.
I hope she is being well taken care of and maintained and well stocked. That ship is one of the greatest pieces of American history
I am with Christian. Jon is always worth watching. As is John McManus and Drachinifel. He is wrong in one thing though; it is never parity when The Big E is there.
thank you veterans!
Well done. Great ceremony.
Been there. The juxtaposition of the USS Arizona and USS Missouri is amazing
I wonder if Don knew my grandpa they were both on big mo during this time Francis Rowe is my grandpa went my Frank Or if any other person that was there that may see this Do you remember my grandpa?
szeptember végén jártam ott. felemelő érzés volt látni valóságban a történelem egy részét
Does the Japanese Naval Ensign, that the crew made to bury the pilot of the Kamikaze aircraft that struck Missouri, still exist?
I have 3 flags of these types. Hi from Australia.
so thaaats how that was put there
Such a beautiful heartfelt video. Thank you OBON Society for your work to bring as many flags home to Japan as possible.
I see Jon Parshall and I watch Jon Parshall…
Ditto
Next should be the Massachusetts bb 59
Thank you Battleship Missouri Memorial for this video, I'm an avid watcher of the Battleship New Jersey channel, and am an avid admirer of the IOWA's in general. Have been aboard both the USS Missoura (🤭🤭sorry couldn't help that one) and USS New Jersey when they visited Sydney many many years ago. The playlist of the New Jersey's drydocking earlier this year has been watched over and over a few times, never gets old, and is a very impressive showcase of all the work conducted. Cheers fro Sydney Aus!!!! 🍻🍻🍻🍻

I love this ship so much that I'm writing a book about it--Battleship Diplomat. And yes, my dad served aboard it in 1946.
I was so honored to have been able to serve on this ship.
Battleship Missouri Memorial - I am wondering why that you are not dropping content on TH-cam more often like the Battleship USS Missouri's sister ship- the Battleship USS New Jersey BB-62 Museum and Memorial and not focusing on the actual spaces on board as well? The Battleship USS New Jersey Museum and Memorial drops new content on their TH-cam channel Monday through Friday , expect on federal holidays and their curator has done videos in almost every space on board her - even in the void spaces and inside one of her boilers - and has traveled to like other museum ships and done videos from those museum ships.
Agreed. We want more content. 🙂

I have visited the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor it's a fabulous ship if you're ever there you must visit
Imagine giving your life to launch a kamikaze strike on a ship ... and the damage you inflict is so irrelevant they are like "Eh, leave it, its a nice keepsake"
My Grandpa was on there when the kamakazi hit the Missouri he was first class firefighter on there so I’m sure he had to help take care that. And he was on there when they signed the peace treaty ❤ Francis Rowe I miss you Grandpa
G-bless ❤❤❤
Visited in Pearl Harbor in December 2023, enjoyed the incredible history and exhibits at USS Missouri.
This is awesome.
When are you going to start making videos about the Battleship USS Missouri ( BB-63) herself like how her sister ship the Battleship USS New Jersey BB-62 Museum and Memorial does 5 days a week?
Great interview. Hope to see more videos Frank
Excellent job folks
This ship defeated aliens!
Too expensive, and too late for WWII.
I walked on the decks of history when she was in Bremerton. Where she should have stayed.
Childhood memories: My grandfather, USN CMDR retired, Lloyd Shapley, took me to the Missouri when it was in Bremerton, WA. and explained the history of the "'mighty Mo". Vivid memories. Grand ship!!!
Long live the MIGHTY MO!!! She ain't done yet!!!
Missouri was docked next to the Kitty Hawk in Bremerton Washington 1976 We would go over to the Missouri weekly and hang out on the main deck
