once i was walking near the edge off a cliff of a plateau with a dood, only cornfields on the hights, approaching the cliff to about 20 foot. it was pitch dark suddently we hear a deep roaring grunt from behind us, verry deep and powerfull. we both stop talking, freeze and look at eachother. silence. we both, having confirmed the other person heard that too by looking at each other, booked it along the cliff-edge trail. most likely a big boar. was some scary shit. i definetly would have felt safer would i have been in possesion of a long pointy stick right there. must be hunter-gatherer instinct.

There are actually multiple animals that can scream like that. As someone mentioned below, various birds can scream similar to that noise like herons. Bobcats, as well as other cat species, and loons can scream in a way that's very similar to that noise. Bears can also make a screaming noise too.

We have blue heron here in KY, they sometimes make a sound similar when frightened, pooping as they fly away from you. I know sounds silly, hunting squirrel by the river, i have seen them do it.

Even though we never heard a Bigfoot scream during our 3 sightings, 2 of which were at our home in Connecticut, the other in nearby protected Watershed property near our campsite, I did hear an exact copy of my Father's whistle while I was in the woods one day, even though I knew he was at work. Our of the corner of my eye, I saw a dark stump where there wasn't one a few days ago. I knew I didn't want to look at it, so I just headed right back home.
