Thank you for posting this lovely conversation! I hope the book gets translated into English, as many people who don’t understand Dutch could benefit from it…
@@mikevanquickenborne1664 thanks for the nice comment! I will inform Michael someone is waiting for the transnation of his book ;)
Useless video.
@@emmanuel4333 but at least a useful comment. Enjoy your day!
very cool concept of video
Thanks for your nice comment!
Congratulations! Your on your way.
You're (good grief :-)
Thank you! It would have been faster with a woodworking channel, but it is still on my todo list ;)
@@cricocoo You just do you, and it'll be alright.
This raises the question, how does James Bond drink his coffee? Does he even take coffee breaks?
You raise a valid point, so I added a link to the video were I go full James Bond ;)
That's one heck of an experience... keep it up man.
Thanks for the super comment!
Interesting conversation. Thank you. I believe that we need the far right around for many reasons. Balance of ideas. There's always a need for balance. They will protect us from communism. You said that you are comfortable with communist, but if they ever take charge your business is over, and you and your very sweet daughter will be living in a tiny concrete flat in some dreary high-rise where the elevator sometimes works along with your heating, and you'll be working ten hours a day in some factory for six days a week, and be provided with very little food. History has proven this. What your daughter will be subjected to in school will evaporate that wonderful positivity that you are teaching her by example. I could go on with this, but I'm sure that you've gotten the point. Law and order. This is a tough one for me, because I'm a compassionate and understanding man, but public safety is the cornerstone of a successful society. The far right has the ability to put victims of crime at a higher level of importance over criminals than we do. We could strike a balance with them on this and have a safe thriving community along with rehabilitation that includes mental health counselling, and career build training for the incarcerated. Locked care, if you will. One last thing. there's a certain group that is, as it stands now, incompatible with with western style democracy, and they have to be kept out at all cost until they mature as a society. For your daughter's sake. You know exactly who I am talking about. I'm an old liberal, and after seeing many things I have come to these conclusions. Take care.
Thanks for your thoughts, I did not get TH-cam's notification on this comment, so my apologies for the later answer. I agree, it is all about balance. As long as extreme left and right keep each other balanced and are not in charge, usually that is to the benefit of society. When the middle gets divided and is pushed to both extremes, it is often troublesome times. So no worries, I am not a communist, I am an Aristotelian ... always in the middle! :)
I bought the part and still the problem exist
Sorry to hear! Is it with the stock Delonghi portafilter or a custom bottomless one?
@@cricocoo custom
custom bottomless
@@cricocoo I think I found the problem, i found one of the portafilter teeth was cracked
@@mohamedreda3389 you cracked the problem ;) If you do not want to spend money on a new portafilter, know that a 7 g non pressurized basket also fits in the stock portafilter. Of course then you cannot "see" your shots, but with experience you also understand when you have channeling without a bottomless portafilter.

Yes

Get to some woodworking, CCC, and you'll gain an audience. The more mistakes the better, because is great for newbies. Trust me on this.

Great summary, Christophe!
I've now lost track of all the table saws I have. I make certain to leave most of the blade hidden low in the saw. Enjoy and stay safe!
Thanks for the tip!
Congratulations on your new saw! I started out with a 1970's Craftsman 113. Loved it, but it was a death trap. Even after the new fence! Hahah! I saved up over 10years and just got my Sawstop last year. It is definitely a slippery slope! Hahah!
Thanks for your comment and subscribing! Luckily it was just from the 1970's and not from the renaissance ;) Although I guess we have to thank TH-cam for the renaissance of woodworking enthusiasts :)
Okay, first thing to do is watch a few youtube videos on how to calibrate your new saw. They will explain to you how to make sure that your blade is set straight and at a ninety degree angle and perfectly aligned with your fence. There are very inexpensive digital tools to help in this process, and you'll want to double check from time, to time with those tools to make sure that everything is still true, so the money is well spent. These simple steps along with using your riving knife will almost eliminate any kickback that you rightly fear. To eliminate any chance of kickback; again go to youtube and watch ten, or so videos on table saw safety, and you'll be set and confident to use your new saw. Don't use the saw until you've done these things. I'm writing this out of love 🙂 Next, and this is the fun part. Build yourself a crosscut sled. This is the safest and the most pleasant way to use your new saw (watch videos on youtube to learn how to properly make one), it's so much better than using a miter gauge; with the exception only when you're making an actual miter cut, and even then a crosscut sled can be built for that too. I hope that you actually slip down that woodworking slippery slope. It's so healthy for the soul. Regards, I enjoyed the content, young man. Thank you. Thank you very much, for the excellent feedback! Next to coffee and video making, woodworking is one of the hobbies I am passionate about, but I try to do it very slowly step by step, not to get physically injured :) So I will definitely follow up your advice!
Looking forward to your new adventures! Safety always first :)
You should consider a series of this kind of videos! I really enjoyed watching it! Enjoy your coffee guys :)
Thank you Giorgios! And do let me know when you are having an espresso emergency. We are always just around the corner! :D
Great video! What music was there in the background?
I have to emphasize that it was accidental background music, not approved for by the director, as otherwise I would get in trouble with the music copyright hunters ;) But it did sound quite operatic, which is a good choice as those scores no longer have copyright. So if only Karl would have sung himself, I would not have had to stop him :D
👊 "Promo sm"
Does the song have a reference to coffee?
Could the dark roast be the standard way to export the coffee to Europe and US?
Thank you, is the coffee research path similar the the curved path of thr stepping stones you took?
Research paths tend to be curvy in general, and in this case I would consider it rather a curve ball how I landed myself doing coffee research ... a dream come true ;)
❤

Glad to be on this video
Thanks for being on board before and after the camera ;)
What a complete and utter waste of time. Thanks for showing me nothing! - You can't even set the machine up!!
It happened to me when I used third part portafilter with double sprouts. Basically, the ears have a tiny different height and the portafilter moves while the extraction. Eventually it explodes and the gasket get popped out. As suggested, replacing the gasket (really cheap) can solve this, or replacing the portafilter (a bit more expensive). Thanks for the video!
Thank you, what is going on with the socks?

Another great episode with Karl, my favorite co-host
You did ask for more episodes with Karl as co-host, so here you go ;)
From what age can coffee enthusiasts start to experiment with coffee?
I have seen some give it to toddlers, but I would not recommend that as you should not give caffeine to under 4-year olds. From the ages of 7 to 9 they are allowed 60 mg a day, so I would recommend, given that an espresso has around 60 mg a shot, to start with 1 ristretto/week. Once they hit the age of 10, when they are allowed 85 mg a day, it is save to move up to 1 espresso/week ;)
Great background audience!
Would you recommend to try an english beer? They may not be accustomed to a bitter taste...
This happens when i use a double-shot basket for a single-shot amount of coffee
Interesting, but in this situation do you grind it extra fine? Is there still coffee coming through?
i'm not really sure but my grinder is set to level 3 on espresso mode. i actually thought about this, since there's an air gap trapped between the sower stream and the coffee powder, the excess hot water is trapped in between at the end of the shot time, the steam pressure isn't enough to let the water through the powder, but it still has some higher pressure trapped, so it splashes once you unlock the filter from the machine. a hack i do to prevent this is letting the machine cool down and drip the water for a minute before removing the filter, also pick the espresso cup away from underneathe before removing it.🌹🌹😊😊@@cricocoo
Francis, how do you maintain a consistent temperature profile? Robusta seems to need a special kind of roasting?
Interesting question, thank you Pieter. With the Gene Cafe it is difficult to be very consistent if your environmental conditions are changing, but if they remain the same it is as simple as using the same settings. For this type of Robusta beans it needs special roasting because the density is extremely low. Other than that, in general Robusta has different "potential" taste properties than Arabica, so you might want to adapt your roasting because of that.
You can probably roast longer if you increase the amount of coffee in the roaster as more beans will soak up more heat and stretch you roast out longer.
Excellent! It’s always something original in your channel.
I've heard with robusta you have to roast the beans longer. I'm averaging 10-11 mins to get full city on my Gene Cafe with most Arabica. Have you tried a darker roast with Robusta?
Nice rhymes, does robusta add something to one's rhythm?
Another great production! Birthday greetings and I hope you enjoy getting the scales calibrated.
I know Carl quite well, so will pass on your birthday wishes!
Woow ❤
you are so cool i learned so much from you
Thank you dear Francis for your wise voice-over, I wonder why did the Europeans neglect the Kardamom and other herbs in the official coffee tradition? More importantly did we loose perhaps one of the essential elements about the coffee ritual, namely the hospitality, in our speedy consumption culture?
Very enjoyable presentation of this project.👍🏻
Was "the little holy thing" a holy grail? (During the screwing process)
A very in depth question, Pieter. Thank you for paying close attention ;)
Very interesting - can I ask, where did you source the beans? They’re huge. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment, happy to share! I got them from koffiebranderijdekoepoort.nl/, the Sweet Maria's of the Netherlands, who sourced them through thissideup.coffee/ from Vietnam I believe
