This is my second time watching this. I'm sure there will be more.
I learned a lot of history from Henty. I only have 30-40 of the Henty books, most in the cheap US reprint versions. But, I also have one or two Blackie and Son originals! I have been glad that the modern Home Schooling movement has brought Henty to the attention of new generations. But, the downside of that is that I can no longer find old copies of Henty titles in the second hand book stores!

Obviously, this was meant to be funny and a little cheeky, so I'm not sure why people are getting their panties in wads. I thought it was humorous and quite similar to what our top ten list would be, with the exception of a few. My family sees a school bus go by and no matter how trying or difficult our school day was, we are immediately reminded as to why we chose this path and we give praise and thanks to God for the opportunity to Homeschool. For the record, not all Homeschoolers are radical religious nuts...my family is but not all are. Hehehe ;-)

I genuinely feel for your poor children. Anyone who lacks the judgement and intelligence to recognize a whack job when they see one, probably because his hate filled views align so well with their own shouldn't really be the only arbiter of a child's whole world of information. I was also home schooled btw. My reaction to the school bus going by was very different. I felt a pang of loneliness and envy that they were all going off to learn interesting things and play, while I was stuck at home with my religious nut jobs of parents (of course this was as I got older and realized what was going on). Religion is a scourge, and people that love to hate - like you - are ruining lives. There will be trouble later. Your children won't thank you like you imagine they will.
Sandrine Daniels I wouldn't say that homeschooling is always bad. Some of my friends and cousins were home schooled and they turned out fine. Also, religion is not always bad aswell. Although yes,nreligion has been in many cases, terrible, I think that it is people who are bad, and not religion, they merely use religion to justify their actions.
It's not a matter of 'turning out ok'. I turned out ok, DESPITE the homeschooling and insane religious babblings of my emotionally unstable parents (pastors of churches in Australia and NZ). Parents homeschool to try to control their children into becoming mini religious zealots. They fear a loss of control if their children hear any other versions of the beginning of the world than God making it in 7 days, and use fear of hell and mortification to scare their children into faith. I lived it, and am grateful to be free of that tyranny.
Sandrine Daniels I wouldn't say all homeschooling situations are like that either. Some children, like a few of my cousins and my friends, chose to be home schooled or went to school and then decided they perfer homeschooling. I would say you had a bad experience with homeschooling. Not every homeschooling ciriculum and program is the same.
I live in Louisiana, named after King Louis XIV. I have never seen his great hall, and he never saw my great state.

He's a product of homeschooling. Guess he didn't think enough after his own homeschooling to get out of that mentality to have his kids raised without anyone contradicting the parents views. It's what life is about. You raise your kids right and they will deal with conflicts and make mistakes, but they will learn about themselves. It's very unfortunate when I see homeschooling being promoted as superior to the child being with other peers. Homeschooling is always done with a religious angle. It's sad to see kids who don't know any better indoctrinated to their parents religion.
