Ive got a Gibson Dove's in Flight, Would you take it in on trade, And of course some cash.

I've been looking at this Guitar now for a couple of weeks .

Hard to tell the difference between them.. Even the V neck sounds the same but more than likely feels different .. I don't think the inlays make a difference other than cosmetic.. Are the bracing different? Scalloped or forward shifted That should make a difference in sound .. Just how much I don't know.. I would be happy with either one of the three, but I have to try the V neck and see how that feels in my hands. .all nice guitars tho.

I own a REAL Banner '43 J-45 with an adirondack spruce top and mahogany back and sides, big fat neck with no truss rod. I played one of the new Banner J-45 Historic re-issues in stores and it was close! It just doesn't reverberate the same as the '43....the notes kind of float out of an old Banner, its something you experience in person. Bass and treble on the '43 is thicker, but it has an 80 year head start on these new Banners. I was actually really impressed with these new ones, I think they nailed the neck, the dryness of the tone, and the extra articulation and power edge it has on newer Standards. It at least had the same kind of growl on the middle strings as you get from an old Banner and the Gibson low E thump, so they are at LEAST 90% there, they are fabulous instruments that will age into extraordonary instruments. For what it's worth from someone that owns Wartime Banner.

The natural top does sound a bit louder and each note is clear . My opinion. The shade top is a more stunning in appearance. Both are great. More alike than different. Top quality on both !!!!

Martin sound quality and consistency instantly come to mind after listening to your demo, Mark. All three sound excellent to me. If I was a poker player, I'd probably have to choose the full house serial number.

Just came across your channel and subscribed. I have 4 acoustics, 2 best ones are a 2010 D-28 that I bought new, and one built by my childhood pastor, who was a woodworker on the side, and built 30 + guitars. The one I have of his, is based off an older D-18 visually. It has a sitka top and the most highly figured Sapele b&s you've ever seen. I love my D-28 to death, but Ive kicked myself many times for not diving into researching Martin more, before I got it. I drove the 150 mile round trip to my nearest GC in Memphis, and I had about $5k in my pocket. After dreaming of owning my very own Martin for 25 years, what did I buy? I bought a dang DCPA-4. 😂😂😂 Even though it played and sounded amazing, I tossed and turned all that night, over buying that one. I drove all the way back down there the next morning, and swapped it out for the best sounding new guitar Ive ever heard before or since. My 2010 D-28. It was hanging on the wall, in the corner, about 3 feet from that one i got the day before. Lol. It had been hanging there a long time, because later when i checked the serial #, it is a 2010. I bought it in like November of 2011 though. As good as it was and is, I still havent figured out how it hung there that long, without being bought. Only way I can make sense of that, is that guitar had to have been built just for me. Im glad i swapped them, and btw, the D-28 price was exactly double what that DCPA-4 was. Lol. Like i said above though, I wish I had known more about all the different models Martin makes beforehand. Which i did learn afterward. If i had known more, instead of the D-28, I would have bought what to me is the most perfect guitar ever built. The D-41. Growing up and hearing Bluegrass and Classic Country, from childhood, I remember loving all guitars. Even as a kid though, I still recognized immediately, that Martin guitar's stood leaps and bounds over every other one I'd ever heard. Of course growing up here in Tennessee, if you are around Bluegrass pickers, you are going to see and hear them playing Martins alot. About all of those around here though, were usually D-18's and D-28's. So I never saw any of the higher tier models. The old country boys bought those guitars to be booming workhorses. Not for looking at. Ive learned that almost 100% of the time, the worse a Martin looks, the better it sounds. 😆

You can't go wrong when you start with a Martin style 18. Slight edge to the Engelmann over the Alpine. Of course, now that sitka is a "premium" wood maybe it's the best? lol 🙂

That d18 sounds massive!!! I really love the sound of the om28.

All fine sounds, but the Engelmann kept standing out to me as having that extra bit of sparkle and volume.

Love this video. Truly demonstrates the difference in tone between all. The Italian was very clear without being jangly. Great volume control. When you laid off of it, the guitar sweetened up. When you laid into it, it responded with a thump. Engleman was very balanced. Treble and bass did not step on each other and had very blended mids. I would enjoy banging out some three chorders by the campfire with this one. Adi...well, what doesn't it do well? Loud, articulate and more punch than Rocky Balboa beating half a steer in the meatlocker. If I could only take one six string to the deserted Island, it would be outfitted with a Red Spruce top. Appreciate the demo. We love Steve!

I really like what you did here! It seems after each segment, I had a different favorite! All three CS OM are so nice, but if you made me buy one right now, I'd be taking the Engelmann home.
