    In May of 2022 FEMA and the Pentagon had a meeting about when the New Madrid fault line triggers - They don't know if it will be intense or mild - in 1810 or so it violently went off and the ground shook for a 1000 miles north east and south - That fault line goes off every 200 yrs during a solar cycle - if the Madrid goes off strong it will destroy 14 major commerce bridges crossing the Mississippi River - all roads and bridges will be destroyed a thousand miles out including i55 north to south - All fiberoptic communication cable crossing the Mississippi will be destroyed and with high voltage transmission towers - The solar cycle 25 were in now is a normal occurrence every 205 yrs - there will be 30 yrs of erratic weather and it it gets considerably colder during these 30 yr cold periods - I've committed on looking up JOHN L Casey' the NASA scientist has seminars on the suns 25 the cycle - he wrote his first book, Cold Sun around 2007 I think - Out of the FEMA/Pentagon meeting in 2022 the top thinkers and scientist in the country were there - There thinking is if the Madrid fault line if it violently triggers - others than cutting off most or all commerce to effected areas - it will cut off all fuel supplies - what we use the most of is fuel - The word icon means idol - our primary idol is energy that's includes electricity - because of electricity we live very comfortable lives - But as in Texas you can see what happened during the winter storm of Feb 2021 - you can listen to phone calls made to 100s on how they coped with the power outages and in many cases natural gas supply interrupted also - That occurrence was short lived - At the FEMA & the Pentagon meeting there conclusion is if the Madrid violently triggers 99.99% will perish in the first yr of effected areas - that included prepers - you have to remember 99% of prepers also live off the gluten rich roman diet also - so in all probability they will perish with the rest of the population - It's each his own on how to deal with coming changes - There is that old saying Knowledge is Power - another is get wisdom even if it cost you all the wealth of your house - It's possible to adjust to the future if your ready now -

As for the knockoff bag, I’m not familiar with that specific brand, but many replicas and knockoffs are often manufactured in China. If you’re considering one, I’d recommend checking reviews and the seller’s details to ensure quality and durability-especially for off-grid living, where reliability matters most. The H2gO® Global Water Purifier sounds like an excellent solution-being able to generate chlorine with just salt, water, and sunlight is a game-changer for off-grid survival. You're also right about bleach having a limited shelf life, so learning alternative purification methods before an emergency happens is crucial. Thanks for sharing this valuable insight! 💧🔋☀️💡

    Growing up we had a cistern and picture pump it worked fine until the leathers went bad then we'd either have to prime it or find an old pair of leather shoes and cut the tongue out of them and use them for leathers.

      Most are not familiar with oil lamps today - if your using the out door tin oil lamp they tend to leak around the seam on the bottom so set them on a plate - With regular oil lamps you have to order extra wicks or roles of wicks - a oil lamp burns away about and inch of wick per gallon of fuel burned - You need extra globes also a little sprinkle of water will crack a globe - For a night light the small round wick oil lamps work out better they don't burn as much fuel - The oder of a oil lamp can be strong that's why they cell scented oil for oil lamps - kerosene can have a strong oder - I also have used mineral sprits in them along with charcoal liter fluid - With the small oil lamps with a small round wick I've super glued globes at times when they cracked or broke - You need oil lamps and those large round candles to back up any solar lights - the battery's often go bad in solar lights also there are times of overcast that can block the sun light for long periods preventing solar lights with solar panels from charging -

    • @FrugalPantry
      @FrugalPantry 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s a very valid concern! In an extended internet outage, access to digital banking and online savings could be severely impacted. A good strategy is to keep a small amount of cash on hand for emergencies and consider diversifying where you store your money. Precious metals, local credit unions, or even prepaid debit cards can offer alternative financial security. Being prepared for disruptions is key-great question, and thanks for bringing it up! 💰💡📉

    I've been collecting for three years, and a greenhouse and garden. I'll be canning tomatoes in July. I use powdered eggs and milk, and I have plenty. I have a lake three miles away, good fishing. I've been to the store twice in the last three months, not planning on buying much this year, except for more lithium iron phosphate batteries for my off grid power system. I'm saving for those now, they're pricey but worth it. I noticed the date, 1/20/2025 mentioned, that's my birthday.😊

    • @FrugalPantry

      That’s an incredible level of preparedness-well done! Your greenhouse, garden, and canning plans show real self-sufficiency, and having a nearby lake for fishing is a huge bonus. Powdered eggs and milk are smart staples to have, and it’s impressive that you’ve only needed to shop twice in the last three months! Investing in lithium iron phosphate batteries for your off-grid power system is a great long-term move, and I totally agree-they’re pricey but definitely worth it. Also, an early Happy Birthday to you! 🎉😊 Wishing you all the best for 1/20/2025! Thanks for sharing your journey-your level of preparedness is truly inspiring! 💡🌱🎣🔋

      That's my plan too. 👍🤔. I built a greenhouse last year next to the garden. I'll be planting after the next snow ❄️ that's coming next weekend. I have so much food that I am just going to work on my water 💦 system and of course, the off grid power stuff. I hope to have enough battery 🔋 capacity by next winter that I can have grow lights in the greenhouse , and extend the growing season. I hope to have fresh tomatoes for Thanksgiving 🦃.

      Great advice! Growing your own tomatoes, garlic, and other fruits and vegetables is a smart way to stay self-sufficient and ensure fresh food year-round. Stocking up on honey and coffee is also a great move-both have long shelf lives and can be hard to find during shortages. Local fishing is an excellent protein source, and spices are key to keeping meals interesting and avoiding food fatigue. Thanks for sharing these valuable tips-preparedness is all about smart planning! 🌱🐟🍯☕🔥

Prioritizing your water system and power setup is a smart way to ensure long-term sustainability. Fresh tomatoes for Thanksgiving? That would be incredible! 🦃🍅 Wishing you success with your planting and your off-grid goals-keep up the great work! 💡🌱🔋💦😊

    Clarification, please: In a long term energy BLACKOUT, such as EMP, all things using energy and electrical power will not be operaable; how will data previously put on a backup drive such as a thumb drive be helpful since that also relys on elecrical energy to be operable?

    • @FrugalPantry
      @FrugalPantry 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! In a long-term energy blackout or EMP event, accessing data stored on a thumb drive or external hard drive would require a working power source. That’s why it’s essential to have off-grid power solutions, such as: 🔋 Portable solar panels & battery banks - These can recharge small devices like laptops or tablets to access stored data. ⚡ EMP-protected storage - Faraday cages or EMP bags can help protect electronics from an initial EMP blast. 📖 Printed backups - For critical information, having physical copies ensures you don’t rely on electricity at all. Having multiple layers of preparedness is key. Digital backups are useful if you have a way to power devices, but low-tech solutions like books, maps, and written plans can be lifesavers in true grid-down scenarios. Thanks for raising this important point! ⚡🔋📖😊

    • @FrugalPantry
      @FrugalPantry 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great observation! Yes, a major internet or power grid failure could impact modern vehicles, especially newer ones that rely heavily on electronic systems, GPS, and network connectivity. While most cars don’t need the internet to function, some features-like navigation, remote unlocking, or even certain engine diagnostics-might be affected. If we’re talking about an EMP event, that’s a different story-many modern vehicles with electronic ignition systems and computerized components could be disabled. That’s why having backup transportation plans, such as older vehicles with fewer electronics, bicycles, or even knowing how to walk long distances safely, is an important consideration in preparedness. Thanks for bringing this up-it’s a crucial aspect of survival planning! 🚗⚡🔋

Not to mention bil pay, niether my power or wifi have a local office. It’s a great reminder that having backup plans, like offline payment options, printed documents, and alternative communication methods, can be crucial. Living in the rural deep south, storms have knocked power out for lengths of time 1000s of times - During long power outages the phone and Internet also go down - After storms around here kids normally just read books by kerosene lamps - I've never seen any playing board games or cards - From what I've seen is kids that normally will not read a book will suddenly pick up a book become readers - While the Internet is up and every one has power there is no need to visit a neighbor - When the power is down and the Internet and phone is down - neighbors come together and spend a lot of time talking -

      That’s such a great observation! Living in a rural area, you’ve seen firsthand how people naturally adapt when the power and internet go down. It’s interesting how kids who wouldn’t normally pick up a book suddenly start reading by kerosene lamp-it just goes to show how much our habits are shaped by technology. And you’re absolutely right, when everything is running, there’s less need to connect with neighbors, but when the power and internet are down, communities tend to come together. Sometimes, these outages remind us of the simple joys of reading, conversation, and real human connection. Thanks for sharing your experience! 📖🕯️🏡😊
