75 Hard in the Cold — Day 34 of 75
I'm on Day 34 of 75 Hard! We just arrived in Takayama and it's freezing. But I have to do one of my workouts outside no matter what. It's one of the parts of the challenge that I really appreciate, since being outside really does impact your senses in a way an indoor gym workout never can.
For those who are new: this is a challenge where for 75 consecutive days, you commit to two 45 minute workouts (3 hours apart at the minimum), stick to a diet of your choice, drink 1 gallon of water, and read 10 pages of a non-fiction book.
Additional challenges I've made for myself are (the 'er' part of harder)
-- no social media scrolling.
-- no internet for leisure.
-- film each day, and create a story around it.

Yes… fitness is a gift… but one needs to be willing to move his/her body to receive that gift. Running 10k for 75 days is no big deal for a fit person, but running 20 k for 75 days would require a kind of discipline to find time to do it
Kanazawa?!
This was in Kyoto!
Snow!
Haha who would have thought
Nice jacket 👀
New daily driver 👀
Such a good quality of your video! And great inspiration that you chose your own path. Keep going!
Appreciate that a lot!
Andrew, I really love the way your content is put together. Thank you for your work! Out of curiosity, what's your outside camera/ mic situation on those POV shots?
Appreciate that! Honestly it’s just the onboard camera mic’s. sometimes I’ll use a Rode Wireless Go 2 (recording directly onto it’s built in memory) and sync up manually later in the edit - but for this challenge I need to be nimble, so I mostly just use the scratch audio and it goes through a bit of noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve. It’s not the most ideal, but for this format of quick storytelling - it works well
You've heard of Chris Tucker, now get ready for Chris Rucker
Yeah I think he acted in Ruck Hour 5
Are you Indian? Great content btw!
Haha yeah! I grew up all around the world but my parents are both from South India :) Appreciate you!
0:28 "i'm gonna go explore less populated areas" *shot of dotonbori* LOL
LOOOL in all honesty I had no idea where I was - it just happened to be on the way to KFC (priorities)
Can't wait for Osaka!

what a camera?
This one was mostly Insta360 X4, with some shots on the Go3s - all graded in DaVinci Resolve (using film emulation) The X4 is much better in low light than the Go3s, but takes a little more effort to edit. The Go3s does great for quick, interesting shots that you can get without people realizing you’re filming - so it’s nice for stealth shots. It’s horrible in low light though, so if I were to choose one - I’d choose the X4.
@@andrewjohnipe thanks, vid looks good asl
lets go
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Lets go man even i on my journey to get better its been a week now thanks for the motivation, and you are just insane man for the consistency
Dude, a week is so solid - great work! Push for the 21 day mark - it noticeably changed for me around that point in terms of habit building.
Woah, you're in JAPAN?!
😂😂😂 the inside baseball
The Japan arc begins!
You warmed it up for me 👨🏽🍳
Get better soon!

Hey dude I’ve watched quite a few of your videos, loving watching the journey! I noticed in most of your videos your form for exercises is pretty bad, not getting full range of motion or missing out on the key stretching point. For example not fully squatting. I think it would benefit you to reduce reps and improve form first. Keep working hard!
Haha I appreciate that callout. Definitely need to improve form on certain exercises. I was working with a physio on my squat depth and have really poor hip mobility - so it'll likely take years before I can be in that fuller range. My current working theory is that doing it in running shoes is working against me, so I'll adapt a bit more and go barefoot -- to see if that helps. Let me know the next time you see me squatting how my form is :)
As opposed to your body lol
hahah he is a true comedian
Oof! That’s rough
A flat foot
I don’t think one necessarily need to take care of himself/herself to take care of others
true, it's not a requirement - there's nuance to that
Okay bro... You motivated me to reduce my time screen too. *Screen time... (I translated it from french in my head 😂)
Haha let me know how it goes! Finding something to replace it with seems to be a key :) Proud of you for recognizing it's impact on you and doing something about it.
Amazing!
The Amazing Faraz (Now In Print)
Nice one 🎉
Appreciate you!
Incredible work as always
thanks <3
Great video, I love your style. Hope this will blow up :) What camera are you using?
Thank you! Very kind sentiment. I use the A7s3 for the static talking head shots, Insta360 X4 and recently the Go3s. All footage has film emulation to give it halation and grain, as well as light colour grading in Davinci (something I'm always wanting to improve in.) Hope that helps!
I stumbled on this video by accident - but I needed i soo much and it resonates with me and my struggle! Best wishes from Poland!
You’ve got this my guy! Your struggle is your fuel 🙌🏽
Hi Andrew, I'm Hans. First timer here and invested in your growth and transformation. I identify with a lot of what you have done and are setting out to do, less the filming part. Keep going :)
Hans, you’ve got this my guy. These past almost 3 weeks have been very transformative for me - I’m sure a journey like this would be for you as well. You’re capable of far more than you currently know 🙌🏽
Really unique video style, keep it up!
Thank you! This means a lot :)
I love the way you capture everything. The shot at the beginning from above was actually beautiful. I like the idea though. Keep going! :D BTW running in the rain is a different kind of dopamine
Appreciate that a lot! And totally, once you embrace the elements - you feel powerful. Good on you for doing that! 🙌🏽
The wagon carries a heavy price...
And a heavy load 🦍
Amazing!

following your journey continuously! so happy for you man
Thanks my guy! Appreciate you 🙏🏽
you sure will man i hope you also grow your channel along this journey hope the best for you, but honestly you are insane to do this so consistently without making excuses good luck
Thanks friend! It’s been a lot of fun documenting it, and encouragement like yours is very helpful in keeping me going :)
How is your channel so underrated??? Incredible documentation
This is a very kind sentiment! Thanks for your encouragement :)
Hell yeah!

very good!
Thank you! 🙏🏽
million subscribers content here, wow. keep it up, it's going to pay
This is a very kind sentiment! Appreciate you and your encouragement :)
Amazing
You are amazing 👨🏽🍳
bro..beautifuly shot. great story telling.
Appreciate you!
Is this time the music louder? compared to your voice is very quiet in the first half of the video.
Yeah I think you're right -- it could have been mixed down a bit more. Good catch, will adjust for the next video.
Crazy thumbnail design!
Haha I knew you'd like the Acasia Core
Came across your channel and I really love the content you've been putting up. Rooting for you my man : ) keep going
Thanks, Ayush! Really appreciate you taking the time to encourage :)
Keep going bro!
Thanks dude! Appreciate you :)
Andrew I just discovered your channel and I think you deserve a lot. Keep going!! I love the color grading, what do you use to edit?
Appreciate that sentiment! You should look into Filmbox! It's a plugin for Davinci and does most of the heavy lifting in my grades :) A bit pricy for sure, but does wonders in making digital footage feel more organic and 'film' like.
Carefull with your knees man, if they start hurting you should try hydrolyzed collagen
Thanks dude! I'll look into that -- thankfully the pain has gone, so it's likely just because I went from 0-100. But yeah, getting older has made me recognize the need for extra care
You are insane man for being so disciplined and consistent You inspire me so much I will try again for tmr and try to keep up with you You're amazing
Dude, the fact that you're giving it another shot is inspiring! Shows your inner resilience. You're doing this to care of you. And you are valuable and important enough for that :)
I've been doing the same thing for a while now and you're right, it is life changing, your body starts to adapt and your mind as well.
Amazing! What day are you on? :) Yeah the changes to the mind are quite stark.
@andrewjohnipe currently at day 28, it has been hard some days but it gets easier as time goes on
@@rumbazumba3189 yeah I hear you. Amazing work my guy, you're almost halfway!
Like the format and the simplicity of the filmmaking dude - keep it up! Almost inspiring me to pick up the camera in my freetime again and get a little series going too.
Honestly it’s done wonders for my craft! Being out creating something every day forces a scrappy sort of ideation and real-time intuitive execution. You should definitely get something started!
