    the hotel i was working for in ischgl had a chateaux margaux ( i believe it was a 2003) on the wine card, the bottle was sold for 3600€ and we essentially never sold one. i had some russian customers who decided to taste through the wine card from most expensive to cheapest ( cheap for russian standards though ^^ regardless if the wine would fit their meal choices, but thats not the point in this story, the sommelier was really pissed about them xD). they stayed for seven days and i became quite a "friend" with them. on their last day they ordered another chateaux margaux and left me a good half to enjoy myself. i told them that i was a redwine drinker over the course of the week. i enjoyed it with the sommelier together and the wine was an absolute bomb ranking easily in the top. i will add that my taste receptors go up to a bottle that you could buy at wine dealers for like 50 or 60 euro. everything above that my receptors are too weak and untrained, so thats a good thing to know for myself i guess xD anything above 60 tastes the same for me ( exceptionally good).

      Thank you for sharing your experience! Yes, training the receptors + learning the history to enjoy the wine in full are two important points 👌🍷

    It's impressive how Château Margaux has such a rich history, but I wonder if its taste truly lives up to the legend. Critics always praise it for its balance and complexity, with vintages like 2009 and 2015 getting near-perfect scores. But is it the history that makes it so desirable, or is the wine itself that special?

    • @finewines00
      @finewines00 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually, it’s both ☺️🙌
