Thanks for posting. I just bought a 404 and I'm trying to get it running. Your video helped me find the fill plug for water pump bearing. It is a PITA, and I had to modify a box end wrench to get if off. Then I had to make a special little fill tube because no funnel made by man will reach the fill. But after you do it once, it becomes easy. For others, you need either a crowfoot 14mm or a modified box end wrench, and a small tube to get the gear oil in there. Every job is easy with the right tool.

Chris, thank you. We got out to the electric only campsite with a full freshwater tank, and…a non functioning pump. I took it apart, and sure enough, that check valve was stuck. Saved me the pump replacement cost. Again, thank you. Now there seems to be a very slight leak at one of the PEX joints on the pressurized side of the pump, but that can wait til I get home…

I went to winterize my 60 gal UTV sprayer before 21 degrees hits us tomorrow night when the sprayer pump stopped working! I was so glad I found your video. It was very helpful and got my winter solution through the pump and system to put it to bed for the winter just in time. Thank you!!!

Where did you get that machine at?

I had a working pump but no water coming from the tap. I watched several TH-cam videos and generally followed lots of suggestions. Finally after dismantling and reassembling various parts I found the problem. It was simply calcium deposits in the aerator. A splash of vinegar sorted the problem. Motto: look for there simple things first.

#1 worked! I was stressing prior to leaving for a dry camp and we have water! Thanks Chris!

That ring is called a synchronizer, I’m sorry to say but you have to remove the transmission to repair it, as the input shaft idler shaft and output shafts will need to be removed, unless your reverse gear is on the idler shaft and there’s somehow a way to remove the idler shaft

I am a mobile dog groomer. The pump in my van went out, but I remembered having a spare. The spare was 10 years old, and made noise like it was working, but no water was flowing. It was exactly what you said, the diaphragm was sticking. I am back to work, and only lost half a day! Thanks for your help!

BINGO! Chris. Thank you for posting. I was about to cut the wires and replace this pump, but checked the WWW first. It is a relatively new pump. We had the camper on city water for a while so it never ran. The power wire was long enough so I pulled it out onto the floor, removed the cover, pushed lightly on the small valve and it broke right free. I would not even have thought to check this except for your video. I dug out the original OEM pump that I had to replace once when on the road, pulled the cover (it was a slightly different design), but sure enough the valve was stuck too. Now I have a spare pump :D . Ours has an in-line removable screen filter - I agree with you on adding one. I cannot imagine the crude I cleaned out of that filter going through the pump.

I replaced mine and it ran for about an hour and quit again. Is it possible I got a defective part or should I be looking for another problem??.

Thank you! Wish we'd had internet camping so I could have seen this video and had running water. I tapped on the pump and immediately had running water.

The pump on my boat stopped pumping water. The pump makes noise but no water. I'll open it up tomorrow and try this. Hopefully it works. The wife needs running water apparently. Who knew 🤣🤣
