Coyote Front Paw’s Pack Asserting Dominance Over New Coyote.
Front Paw and another coyote from her pack have come across a “newbie”, a new coyote they have never encountered before which has crossed into their territory. Front Paw and her companion are asserting their dominance over the “newbie” and are making it clear that he is not welcome.
The “newbie” is submitting to them. He displays a subordinate stance and behaves in a submissive manner. He keeps his head crouched low and never above the others’ heads. His back is arched and his tail is heavily tucked in between his hind legs as he walks sideways. The “newbie” is letting Front Paw and her companion know that he is not challenging their authority. This is one of my favorite videos of Front Paw. It shows that although her front paw is injured, she is still undoubtedly the female alpha leading her pack of 5.
