Your Comment Request was attached to a Stevie Wonder Bass Tutorial. Are you looking to play this Synth Solo (1:49 - 2:35) on the Bass or another instrument? If you want to play it on the Bass you have to use an Octave Pedal to shift up. The first run of notes descends Eb Db Ab OR D# C# G#, but the first note is an octave higher than the 20th fret (D#/Eb) of the G String on a bass. The Highest note in the solo sounds like an C#/Db above that octave, so you would likely need to pitch shift your bass up an additional Octave (2 octaves higher than a standard 4 string bass can hit) with an Octave, Pitchfork, or Whammy Pedal. Of course you can always learn the run of notes and patterns in a lower octave without pitch shifting. Sounds like the song and solo may primarily be in the key of B Major? Target notes are B C# D# E F# G# A#. There are sounds to be some chromatic movements in there as well as possible modal shifts. I'll let you know if/when I get time to sit down and absorb the full 45+ second section. Cheers.

Appreciate the Feedback. I see where you are coming from. I usually do a foundational lesson/exercises with students to recognize/repeat/recall the dotted fret notes (frets 3 5 and 7) on strings 6 and 5 as NATURAL NOTES (G A B, C D E) Sting 6 (low E String) has an F on the First Fret. Frets 3 5 and 7 are G A and B. String 5 (A String) also has B on the second fret. Frets 3 5 and 7 are C D and E. Once we recognize and recall those natural notes by name (F G A B C D E) we build the PERFECT 5th POWER CHORD shape. We can then use the natural notes to navigate to the ENHARMONIC NOTES (sharps and flats) on the non-dotted frets. Then we can call out the chords by name for more efficient musical communication. F#5 B5 to C#5 G#5 to A5....etc..... Is far easier to say than 2nd fret string 6, 2nd fret string 5 to 4th fret string 5. 4th Fret string 6 to 5th fret string 6. The latter is a lot more efficient once the foundational understanding is established.

@powerforward1955 Hello. Bill Withers is an interesting character with some killer tunes. The J bass is a Japanese(MIJ) Geddy Lee Signature. Think it is a 2006? Most of them have a black body. I just happened to come across the sunburst finish.

G7 G6 G7 G6 in the second measure of the pattern. G7 in the & of 1. G6 on the & of beat 2. G7 on beat 3. G6 on beat 4.
