Love these cars I had one a few years ago.when I got it .came with issues then got rid of it.But I'm going to find a low mileage one in the near future

did u ever disable or delete afm ?

i thought these cars were cool till i rode in my first one and was like well i guess thats it. then i worked at a repair shop and had more chances with other gxp and impala ss not the good ones. and was even more underwhelmed. they are detuned from the factory to save the transmission but you can never get enough traction to make any form of useable power if you build one. add in all the extra heat in the engine bay and your constantly dealing with oil leaks and coolant leaks breaking motor mounts the stupid power steering line. i could never own one after working on them ill keep my rear wheel drive for v8's

What is actually did you do to it, I know it sounds like a stupid question to ask but I have one and I’m not the most car savvy person

Do have the range afm or dod delete and did you changed the trans fluid with dexron 6 (7quarts )with the gasket and filter ?

GM should have put a heavy duty transmission on these GXPs and GTPs from the get go. So sad that enthusiasts have to be dealing with weak transmissions on these cars.

What type of pipes you got

Attention GXP owners who don't somehow already know this: Grand Prix GXP has 4T65LE transmission. This unit designed to handle 280 Lb/Ft of torque. LS4 produces approx 330 lb/ft. This transmission FAILS because it was never intended to be used with this engine. Have it totally rebuilt at a quality shop and you will be fine for another 100K miles. And no the Bonneville GXP does not use this tranny but uses instead the 4T80 which is much stronger but does not bolt direct to the LS4.

I got a 1999 gt and its a nice first car. Handles better than all my friends cars and its faster than most of them.
