Oh my god. Just found this video here. I live in Sichenhausen. We are a small village with about 200 people living here. How did it come to do this video? Did you search for it or is this a mission to do in this game?
I'm not the video creator but this is a mission in this video game. These games focus on small-scale fights in war, so instead of huge cities they often focus on small towns. The game is focused on realism, so instead of taking a smaller city like Giessen and pretending it's tiny, they try to remain authentic/realistic and so they take a truly tiny town like Sichenhausen and use that instead! I'm not sure if the Sichenhausen map is truly accurate, but many of the Combat Mission games use real-world city maps to accurately place buildings, hills, rivers, etc to try to accurately reflect real life!
Very interesting. Never thought our small village would make it into a video game😂 The buildings look different but the landscape is truly similar. You can take a look at Google Maps or street view. Thank God the Sowjets never came here. But there have been plans in East Germany to attak West Germany ar the border near Fulda, about 35 miles away from us. And on their way to Frankfurt the Sowjets would have came here.
@@sichenhausernidder-narren4415 Very interesting to learn! So it seems in simulating a cold war this town is an important border area each side would want to control. The game developers probably saw how close to the line it was and determined it was a strategic point.
@@WekBenHelix indeed our home area was a strategic point. Do you know Point Alpha at the border between GDR and FRG? This Point was installed by the US Army because they feared the Sowjets would cross the border there. Its about 50 miles from Sichenhausen. They would have moved from Fulda (20 miles away from the former border between east and west) to Frankfurt (about 60 miles) and from Frankfurt to the former capitol of Germany, Bonn. Point Alpha is a museum now where you can see the plan of action the Sowjets created to start their invasion in West Germany. We only have small towns and villages so they thought it would be the easiest thing to cross the border here.

If this is the type of thing you are into , absolutely, you will be hard set to find another game that does what this one does. I’ve been searching since 2007, haven’t found one yet.

@@pinkgorrilavrunfortunately no, not that I am aware of. You can purchase on Slitherine or on Battlefrront.com but they are most likely always going to be the same price.

Great video but the constant F-bombs is unnecessary.
Pulling the M60A2s back to the high ground (and into good hull down positions there) really makes this a turkey shoot for the NATO side. The Soviet tanks suck at long range plinking and the A2’s will have excellent long range sight lines that allow them plenty of time to wipe out the NME armor with their (somewhat unrealistically reliable) gun-launched ATGMs. When I play this, I force myself to not redeploy the M60A2s beyond the ditch/road area to keep the scenario balanced.

Great to see the M60A2 in a wargame finally! It was my favorite tank as a kid. Had a Tamiya 1/35 that was the first thing I ever airbrushed and it looked awesome. So seeing it “in action” is a 45 year old dream of mine :)

I wonder if keeping the M-60s on the reverse sloop (since at that long range they can't effectively make kills) and/or moving them after a few rounds "shoot and scoot" style might have kept them alive longer. Monday morning quarterback of me, but just a thought.
25:46 The stories I've heard, are that due to budgetary restrictions, most training on the M-87s were using dummy rounds or dry firing. The warheads were expensive so live fire testing was rare, 1-2 times a year. Operators therefore were *not* familiar with the actual rocket's kick, and due to being wire guided, often ended up steering them into the ground as they tried to readjust their aim on target.

I did almost as well on this mission but I didn’t trust the city not to contain hidden RPG teams so I dismounted in the prep phase and pushed my rifle squads up on foot and never remounted them. I managed to lose a few Marines and two AAVs to lucky RPG shots as well. I’m not sure what you have to do to get that enemy casualties objective since I only left 6 Syrians standing.
