    Just looked like the pushrod was going up and down , therefor cam may be ok and valve not completely closing , which may also explain lack of power Gordon from Australia

      @@gordonkelly9179 yeah, I suspect the cam lobe for cylinder #8 is worn so not providing enough lift to open the valve. Was able to secure a new engine, so will go that route.

    TH-cam doesn't like me sending links so I suggest going to Kanter auto parts and look up 1939 Buick push rods.

  • @DariusStefan1937
    @DariusStefan1937 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I own a 37 Buick and I've been there. Your car is definitely not firing on all 8 cylinders yet. Have a look at the pushrods solution I suggested. Also just throwing this out there, valve lash needs to be 0.15" HOT. You can start setting them to 0.15" when still cold, fire it up, let it warm up for 15 min then check the lash again. I look forward to seeing your progress!

      @@AlvarosGarage the pushrods advertised on Kanter specify they are for a 320ci Buick straight 8 but it's probably worth takin one of the better pushrods out of your engine, measure the length and give the folks on Kanter a call to compare before you buy.

    Struggling with an install of one of these bp engine swaps in a 67. What transmission do you have? 904 727? Did you have a change flexplates or torque converter? I understand 273 is internally balanced and 360 magnum these are based on is externally balanced.

      904 transmission, but you'd need a 68+ trans (or input shaft) and externally balanced torque converter. You can see what I had to in part 2 of my video here: th-cam.com/video/t0rULkMEPvY/w-d-xo.html Parts list I used: B&M 10239 -Flex Plate 200-2903 - ARP Flex Plate Bolts Torque Converter: 27-25HD - Hughes Performance Street Master Torque 240-7302 - ARP Torque Converter Bolts I also documented what I did here: www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/project-wolf-in-sheeps-clothing-273-408-magnum-swap.485609/ Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @AlvarosGarage
      @AlvarosGarage 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jamison, that is a surge tank for the fuel system. I have a low pressure mechanical fuel pump feeding the smaller surge tank from the main tank. The surge tank then has a high pressure fuel pump for the FiTech fuel injection system. This works out well for rock crawling to avoid fuel starvation on a low tank of fuel during steep angles.

    Nice car. My first car was a '69 Barracuda 340 4sp. That was back in 1981 and I've regretted selling it ever since. I had a '68 Barracuda with a transplanted 360 auto in 1999 but ended up selling it because we were moving for a job. I've regretted that too. Now I have a pretty rusty but very complete '69 Dart GT 318 auto. With prices on old Mopars these days, that's the best I could come up with. I'd love to do something like what you did with yours, nothing better than cruising around in a nice old Mopar.
