Traded my 2019 Challenger GT Blacktop with all its modern bells and whistles for a low mileage 2009 Challenger SRT8. ZERO regrets what an amazing car. Speed. Acceleration. Miles of smiles. And with 22k miles on the clock and baby'd since 2009 I'm inheriting a car in showroom condition that will NOW be driven like it was born to be. Also a few other things to consider: 1. The 6.1 SRT8 engine is a BEAST. It's a bore away from the 6.2 hellcat and a 2.4L blower away from hellcat levels of power 2. The internals are far stronger than the next gen HEMI 5.7 and 6.4 and can take a lot more boost 3. The NAG1 5 spd transmission is a workhouse and can take a lot more power - plus with the zAutomotive 'Tranzformer' the gearing is fast, firm and enjoyable 4. Less engine tech like VVT means it has less to go wrong if looked after well - that includes a catch can aad 180 deg thermo 5. With a CAI, long tube, cat back, wider TB and 93 tune you're pushing some impressive lbft gains for not a major investment (and ideally wider rears than stock) I thought I'd miss the later model uconnect screens and sport button features but not been the case. Really appreciate the videos on this channel lots of ideas for me to future plan too!

are you able to completely change out the steering wheel on these early challengers to a different one? Wanted to see if i can change it to the newer one or a completely different looking aftermarket one.

Ngl, id rather have the older 392 powered ones and mabye throw some mods if i reslly need the extra power, plus they look more like the older 70s challengers which i prefer

Love this vid, paid right under 10k for my 2008 srt8 Charger, and to me the older srt8 charger body styles look more aggressive than the 15+. And with the challengers all you need is the headlights and taillights and front bumper and wouldn’t be able to tell a difference

the front splitter is flapping about at high speed, you need two tie rods to hold it into place and not flap up and down

Just bought a 09 SRT8 manual in Torred last week, 59k original miles. Could off the engine that's how clean it is. Got it for 22,5k. Debating on keeping and building it or trading for a manual hellcat in a year or so

Completed my first round trip to work and back in my used 2012 SRT8. 27.8k miles APOS but now it has 28K miles. Super chill driving as I’m not used to the power. I’m like the slowest SRT8 on the road. I’ll be dam*ed if I spin out in this thing. The reason I bought it is because the price was right and the only issue I found with it: The larger rear tires are on the fronts, rotation mistake. Needs tires, breaks and I’ve already received the replacements including rotors. $27,8k I mean they literally sold me the car with the mileage nearly matching the sale price. Funny story: In a moment of complete Ignorance while at the dealership I had forgotten how to set the parking break. With the foot not the hand, right!. So I’m sitting there after the test drive looking for the parking brake in the center console like a complete dumb@ss! I ask the sales man how to set the parking brake. He tells me the process for releasing the break. I’m thinking, “how does pulling the release set the brake”? Yet my air~brained moment led me to pulling it anyway. The pull handle breaks loose and sits poking out. (OH 🤬!) I look at the sales man and tell him the news. Followed by, “It’s cool because I want this car. I’ll fix it later.” Well I get out, reach under the dash to feel the back side of the pull handle. At this point the brake has been set and while blindly fiddling with the back side the pull handle I release the brake and the foot peddle slams my hand firmly stuck in place. 🫨 With the calmest demeanor and straightest face I could manage under the circumstances I turn my face to the salesman who is now sitting in the drivers seat and ask him to set the brake again. He does and I reveal a long bruise spanning my hand’s length. I love working on cars but I can’t help hurting myself nearly every time. I didn’t realize it at the time but the pedal split my cuticle and so as I continued to examine the vehicle’s engine bay I’m leaving red stains all over the edges of the fenders on my WHITE ride! The salesman and several of the staff frantically started looking for a band aid. Needless to say this was exceptionally embarrassing! 😊 So no, the handle wasn’t physically damaged. Once I was parked at home I got to work removing the mounting screws and reassembling the handle. Like it never happened… 🤗 My other car is a Fiat 500 Pop. Both cars are manual which is a major selling point for me. Both cars need tires and breaks but the Fiat has been financially totaled on paper due to my failing to avoid a deer. Hood, both head lamp fixtures the bumper the hood catch and maybe the front radiator frame have all been affected. Aside from a bad baring the Fiat runs great still. Yet with over 100k miles I wanted something new as a backup. I sure picked a hell of a back up! Read just under half the user manual so far but I still feel like I don’t know squat about this Challenger. Both cars are at opposite spectrum ends. The Fiat, with it’s Magna Flow setup sounds like the teen cub while the SRT8 lets out a lion’s roar.😂 Even though the Fiat is injured I still love it. I appreciate your video, thank you.

Hey man, love the content. There’s so much out there for the 5.7s and the 6.4s, but our 6.1s get so overlooked. So I love seeing how yours responds the mods while I’m planning my own build. If you’re planning on keeping it NA, I’d love to see you get the intake manifold port and polished, or maybe do a swap. Thanks again and keep it going bro!

I got a 09 RT Torred six speed. I sent the VIN to Dodge administration and Chrysler Fiat sent me a email saying it is 1 out of 110 produced in 09 with the unique features. It's basically stripped down. Only 37 thousand miles. I wonder what the true value of it would be? After 16 years there isn't 110 left. If anyone would know please feel free to reply.

The dumps keep it fun, with the full exhaust the car is alot more tame and deep until you really hit the gas, I got a cammed 6.1 with the long tube headers and an x pipe which at times i wish I had a cat back which I feel is the perfect way to keep the car’s personality without being to obnoxious , especially with the headers that thing will sound amazing
