My name is Ashley Phoenix and I am a fan of video games. I post gameplay videos and some other videos like music tracks. I also do playthroughs. Lately I would post whatever and be infrequent as I uploaded when the mood hit, but I plan to change this.

F.E.A.R. - Interval 11: Ground Zero & Epilogue (Extreme Difficulty)
This is the End of my playthrough of the 2005 FPS Masterpiece: F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) on the highest difficulty: Extreme Difficulty without using any quick saves. F.E.A.R. is created by Monolith Productions, the same developers behind the hit FPS games Blood and No One Lives Forever (As well as Condemned Criminal Origins). It is a first-person shooter with horror elements (Hence the name).
So I don't need to keep anyone in suspense, this is not only my favorite game of all time, but imo it's the greatest shooter ever made (With DOOM Eternal being a very close second). Simply put, everything front to back is perfection. The combat is top notch, you have amazing weapons that all have their own niche and each one is satisfying as hell to use. The Slowmo adds good strategy as using it well is key to success and the game is non linear and not scripted which is great. Story here is good and engaging too, it's not a deep story, but what's here is told very well and I love that it's also told bit by bit via computers and phone calls you find. The horror is also great, the first time playing I legit pissed myself.
What makes F.E.A.R. truly special is the unmatched enemy ai in this game. Simply put it's the best you'll ever see and especially on Extreme Difficulty where they're at their fullest (Which is why Extreme is the only real way to play the game). Enemies are smart, they'll always react to your movements, they can spot your flashlight, they'll flank you, flush you out, take formations or hold the line to stop you. This is greatly accommodated by the game's level design which has open arenas that have multiple pathways into each room. This ensures that not only can you find various ways to approach any given combat situation, but so can the enemy ai. It also means you cannot camp.
What's great about the ai is that you really feel like each fight is a proper gun battle, like you're fighting an actual war against enemies. You get punished for your mistakes, any time you die, it's your fault and each death is a learning experience. I can't praise this game's combat and ai enough, it's just perfect..it feels better than anything in existence. Throw in some amazing visuals for the time with killer lighting and visual effects alongside an engaging and well told story and great pacing and horror..and well you have a masterpiece.
So yeah this playthrough is on Extreme Difficulty and not using quick saves, this means that I played each level or "Interval" as they're called in 1 go without quick saving. Due to the nature of this playthrough, any and all deaths that I have are left in the video, so this is an unedited playthrough, it also means there will be no fail compilation. I made this to show off the game as I feel younger folks should know about this game, plus I wanted an excuse to play my favorite game. I also hope this playthrough helps show off to struggling players what strategies I use in order to help them out.
Well here we are, the final chapter of the game and they sure saved the craziest for last. This is basically just one final big horror section and I think it's most appropriate considering how the game has been up to this point and it works fine. Once more, I love how the story tells itself out here, especially with the Alma stuff. But it's not too hard really, though it is a shame I didn't get to use all of that ammo.
So yeah I also decided to put the Epilogue here as part of this video because..well the epilogue is quite literally just a small tiny cutscene. I also included the credits here, so really this part is as long as it is cause of the credits, nothing else. So yeah that was F.E.A.R. and really it's still imo the best shooter ever made and my favorite game of all time..hell just finishing this upload makes me wanna play again. The ending here also directly will setup the first expansion: Extraction Point. I will not be doing a playthrough of it, at least not anytime soon.
That leads me to what I'll say here..I think after about 2 or 3 months of straight daily uploads and a comeback..it's time for me to go off into the sunset. I had fun doing this, but sadly the views became non existent and while I appreciate any views and don't mind them much, I'd prefer to have some views at all. The fun comes from people watching, so when people don't..well it makes me lost motivation. That and I don't really know what I wanna do next at all.
So what's next? Well I have some Agent Under Fire Reloaded MP videos, that I'll upload eventually, but not anytme soon. I'll let things simmer so I can decide what I want to do. I may just go back to uploading whenever the mood strikes me, perhaps more Guitar Hero videos, we'll see. But for now, thanks to all who watched, it means a lot to see people watch me play my favorite game and I hope this works well as a walkthrough for those who need help.
So yeah thanks for watching, long live F.E.A.R. the GOAT and also happy halloween.

This music was recycled from "The Professional: Leon", right? From the scene with Mathilda (Natalie Portman) walking around New York streets after Leon (Jean Reno) had died. I remember Eric Serra also worked with Luc Besson in that movie.
It's because the controls are set to Standard I believe, If you switch it to classic the walking will become like the PS2 version but you can't use the mouse to look around sadly. Instead you use keypad

Somebody remembered the OBOY OBOY code!!
As a kid in high school playing this game I'll have to admit even on Agent difficulty I couldn't even get past the Night Watch mission. It's double shameful that I never learned much about this game back in my day due to me suffering through cancer my last few years in school, my father passing away when I was five, and my mother getting tragically abused by her live-in-boyfriend along with the fact that I had to give up most of my gaming in recent years due to physical and mental health problems I've been suffering. I might get back to this game eventually once it releases on Switch Online which I don't think there's any guarantee it will given that this game is not as widely popular on the N64 like it predecessor but still... Once I purchase this game again I might get back to it.
Darling, what could possibly go wrong, eh?
Yooo 😅 👏 fantastic! I recently started playing via the Switch after many many years. I have no excuses as to why I can't get past Silo on secret agent now lol
@@ryanj99 Thanks, honestly Silo can be tricky for sure, one of the harder levels on 00 Agent I think.

I’ve been wanting this episode to return for the longest time. Thank You My Good Sir.
@@JimMilton-1911 all good, I felt the same hence why I re-uploaded it. I don't think Mike will ever re-upload this due to the falling out with TSP and terms of his re-uploads of the series. He'd basically have to make an entirely new episode to re-upload it. Do wish I could've found a better quality re-upload but it's better to have it than to not have it at all
@@TheFEARSlayer01 Good quality or not it’s all good
How do you configure this game in rcps3?
@@nicolasmarin21 I'm playing at pretty much stock settings here even down to 720p resolution due to this being a bad port so it's unoptimized as hell on RPCS3. Every other GH game I played at 1440p resolution upscaled, but this one I had to play at 720p native because it would lag like a bitch. So I didn't do any configuring. As for getting my guitar working..it's more complicated, I used DS4 Windows to do some trickery in getting Windows to fully recognize my guitar, but I don't for the life of me remember what I did exactly unfortunately. I use the Gibson SG from GH2 PS2 for reference.
But you play 720p at 120fps?

funny thing with GZDoom is if you mess with compatibility flags and display settings (it has a 320x200 resolution preset as well) it pretty much looks and feels just like the DOS version, but with enhanced features and it actually feels pretty nice to play it like that
@@captainzed5659 Yep I know of that, I just opt for higher res as it's easier on the eyes and better for a viewing experience especially for people who've not played before. I do try to stay as vanilla as possible tho as I have mouse look disabled
For those who stop by this old video, I've done a completely new playthrough of this game that's got much better video quality, proper sound, correct aspect ratio and overall smoother and better gameplay. You can watch it here: th-cam.com/play/PL2lbu1q0vc6b4NX_67hZ8ICJ-luFjDyhX.html Tbh this would likely be a better watch than this old very bad video.
Better pacing than the actual cutscenes
I would be inclined to agree tbh, though it's sad the lip syncing (Which is already infamously awful in the localization) is even worse here. Though in general it's better paced because 60 FPS and above will always be better for cutscenes than 30 FPS, just a fact really.

@@magmamaster1801 it is super fun, the biggest crime was it never getting a PC version (Same with Agent Under Fire). It's especially ass because a Eurocom developer who worked on this game in an interview with fans said they didn't know the Gearbox PC game was a thing and that Eurocom would've happily made a PC port but EA never asked Eurocom to do it.
