u screwed up. U needed that center island. u need to get one of the opponents grabbed by the lava hand, the kill peridatile forever from the middle island. U had it, but you killed him! goof
Yeah of course I know of the of the pterodactyl kill cheat. what's the point in that. wow i point left/right , score millions wow what a king. No.
I once held the then world record in this game. I played over 12 hours on a single quarter, and could have kept going but the arcade closed.
hell yeah love it. arcade-wise i've got 5 million? and drained the lives. I mean shit, there were so many games to learn than waste a day where i was.
"investors - give us your money...."

@@donwilbanks2226 Absolutely, I'm thinking it's been 22years since we talked last.
How embarrassing. This guy is a shameless ripoff of the great Wolfman Jack.
You should be embarrassed by writing that... No one cares .. he was Cool
The individual who was playing Donkey Kong Jr. may have been aiming to get 10,000,000 points. It was definitely a world's record.
You make it look easy
Loved his show!! He was awesome.
Thanks 😊

..so you want a realistic, down to earth game, that's completely off the wall and crawling with magic robots?
This is on Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration.
excellent i grew up in that era....late 70s early 80s.....were the best....i would go back in a new york minute....
I lived in Brooklyn then... I agree.
Is there a commercial for Mappy?
Incredible score, well done sir!
I got grounded when I was 9 for listening to this! Ha
Ha ha 😂 funny how this was considered naughty back then ... our parents did their best to shelter us in a good way back then
I can't believe how many quarters I went through as a kid playing this game. It was great to see you play till 1 mill! Great use of physics and timing. I never saw anyone get this good at the game - it was nice to see!
Ginner was a punk
Atari only did a good job with arcade machines but with consoles they sucked I only like 3 games from Atari that’s centipede and millipede and Dig Dug that namco took away from Atari the rest of their games are trash
Namco made Dig Dug, and Atari licensed it from Namco for US distribution
@@AndrewAmbrose namco wasn’t here in 1980 but Dig Dug Atari and Midway were and dig dug belongs to Atari go on mame 32 read who made what games so now that the dragon ball z games say Bandai Namco’s you think namco makes the dragon ball z games the answer is no Bandai makes the dragon ball z games I was here when before the arcade machines existed in 1977
The past Far years I was looking for this video but now I found it. My favorite video of this game.
I'm pretty sure it isn't strategic to die 3 times in a row every 2 rounds.
nice soundtrack
Loved this show! I was on it too.

Now that’s the kinda Video I wanted to watch.
As much as I love arcade games, it's easy to forget that the entire reason they were made was to get the maximum profit in the least amount of time. These old promo videos even make it a point of pride.
7:12 Glad to see you used the 'belly bounce' technique to get through the gap and under the platform adjoining the middle right platform...a useful escape route or for egg wave runs:) Great skills on display here, bravo!
Here’s a tip from the movie pixels Aim for the head
I wish someone would dig into the archives and play more of these.
OMG this brought back some memories!! BOOGIE CHECK!!
I see Tony Temple was commenting in the live chat too.
That game's a bith!
I love Centipede! I remember getting a perfect score of 999,999 as a teen! :)
At the abrupt cut, was a piece of this lost?
no idea, that's how it appears on the footage i have. it does seem like a strange transition, though.
@@markydkiehl Ah! Thanks for letting me know. Is your footage on a tape from Atari?
And originally the song was going to be done by Chubby Checker. There's even an audio tape of his version floating around on SoundCloud

I just got one of these bad boys, its really cool
I played this game during my High School Years. I challenged a dumb thug to the game and 'molly-whopped' the shit out of him. His girl drug him away after he lost...which was not my problem, because I had the tricks and techniques down and was determined to get the high score. Sadly, the arcade that lost money at that game closed down. ('Sign O' the Times'...as Prince would sing.)
(I remember trying to play this game. You are a jouster on a buzzard with a spear, trying to stop enemy jousters also on their buzzards by trying to go high on your jouster and buzzard than the other’s jouster and his buzzard so that the enemy will impact you lower, and you beat that other jouster. But if you let that enemy jouster aim too high over you and he hits you high instead, your buzzard and jouster are all gone-toast---dead! (‘de-resolutionized’, that is, as I hear a sound of a computerized explosive “boom!”) - a life penalty. Game is over when you lose all of your jousters on buzzards. The sounds of the game were quite unique fore me….when each of those attack waves start, I see the new jousters on buzzards appear with a low sound noise that seems to swoop up on every new jouster I see that is ready to attack me. I hear a computerized “swallow” noise on every egg that I get in the air or on the platforms. And, while Joust doesn’t have the indestructible Evil Otto like in the video game called Berzerk; instead, Joust does have that crazy prehistoric bird called the pterodactyl, which cries out, in my autistic intuition, a pitch of G4 glissandoing down to a G3 to make that signature pterodactyl whooping-cry, which is quite scary enough auditory-wise, but sight-wise, I see that yellow bird as a crazy bird - something like a vulture on plenty of steroids - honing in on my good jouster to destroy me in a suddenly fast swoop. I never had faced a joust on a pterodactyl in my life realizing it would be useless, so I just try to avoid it and clear the stage as much as I can so that crying bird won’t harass my good guy for long.
This dude's a boss.
