The book in the assassination school the words are the lyrics to a Beatles song. There are many Beatles references throughout the series, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was referenced already. Someone in the Writers Room was a Beatles fan.

My biggest question about this episode was always "are the invisible people naked?"

I really loved this episode! A lot of the show was a metaphor for growing up, puberty and high school. This one didn't even try to hide it, the metaphor was in plain sight, even if the antagonist wasn't. ❤

They tried everything in season 1.

Cordelia is just on fire this episode. I think I've seen it at least 100 times and I still crack up. It's Charisma's delivery that does it.

MAJOR SPOILER FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THROUGH THE SERIES FINALE!!! I find it fascinating that Cordelia's moment of leaving on-demensionality ("it's better than being alone all by yourself") just happens to be Buffy's biggest issue of the series.

Cordelia has come slightly out of one-dimmensional territory.

How did Marcy know at the end which seat was vacant? 😅

I still remember when the show first aired, I liked it, it was just mindless fun. Then they gave this loneliness speech to Cordelia when they absolutely did not need to, and I thought for the first time that this show may become actually something special. It proved that they wanted to go somewhere with the stories and the characters - giving depth to Cordelia, no less ! Let's follow this further, I thought... well, I was not disappointed by the follow-up.

I'm English can an American answer me this I went to high school around the time Buffy was on were American high school's really like this at the time we weren't all friends with everyone in our class but we all knew eachother's names

In the last scene the teacher introduces Marcie to the class, and they all greet her - does this mean that invisible people can see each other ?

This is one of my favorites from Season 1, but the finale shows the potential for the show. With some more budget, the future is looking good.

It's a really good episode. Probably gets overlooked a bit because it's so near the final.

I can appreciate they're giving Cordelia layers, but I don't agree with her: I'd rather be alone-alone than surrounded by hypocrits ;)

The cool Easter egg in this episode was at the end with the book, in the body of the text - it's the lyrics to the Beatles' 'Happiness s A Warm Gun' from their White Album.

The text in the book at the end are a slightly altered version of the lyrics to The Beatles "Happiness Is a Warm Gun." Clea DuVall since has had a decent TV and film career with early highlights in But I'm a Cheerleader.

"Vampire bat" is one of my favorite jokes in the whole show. I'm alone with that one, huh.

Buffy using her sensing ability to detect Marcie reminds me of Spiderman with his spider sense.

That Cordelia quote at end about being surrounded by people yet feeling alone is not well written. There is no indication in the episode or anywhere prior to that that she has any conflicting feelings with being mean. Also, anyone who says stuff like that has never been that lonely. Lololol. That’s basically like saying yeah I have all these friends and dates but ya know what I’m just like you person who has no friends or dates. Not buying it. She is funny at moments but probably my least fave character. She plays the mean bratty character too well. So I guess mission accomplished.

In the first episode, Giles specifically said Buffy should be able to sense vampires. Not invisible psychos. And she didn't. And at 15:21 she isn't “sensing” in some supernatural way. She is LISTENING. Which is why she told Cordy to shut up.

I used to have such a crush on Clea. OK, seriously, first of all, quantum mechanics doesn't work that way. Secondly, even if we accept the explanation, Marcie shouldn't be just invisible, she should be also unhearable and untouchable. She won't be able to affect the world in any observable way... which is pretty much the same as ceasing to exist. “No dead students here... this week”. Mercedes McNab. Under the logic of this episode, if everyone else starts treating Nythical as though she can fly and shoot lasers out of her eyes, then she'll manifest those abilities.

Despite I've started this TV show in my late teen years it feels like I grow up with the characters. It's incredible how much all of them are changed, got matured throughout the series. So many laughs and even cries, no surprise this is my top favourite show of all time.

Another great reaction. Episodes like this one really show that while the production values got better as the show went on, Buffy told the most menainful stories in the high school years. The whole metaphor of "highschool is hell (mouth)" was ingenious.

I have always loved this episode Clea DuVall who plays Marcie is such a great actor my fav part she has played has to be as Stokely in the Faculty (1998) still one of my fav movies it's helps that the cast is easy on the eye 😆

Again a really well written episode, exploring how an outsider can feel when ignored, and how they can be driven to extreme actions because of this. A very sinister ending with shades of many an X-Files episode. Great indeed. Funny comedy again also with Cordelia telling the story about knocking the girl down in her car, and making it all about her.

Had a friend in high school I nicknamed "Spider" everybody thought it had to do with him being a bad ass mexican dude. It was actuallly my inside waayof making fun of him because we were drinking in his uncle garage and a Big spider crawled across his face he got so scared and jumpy he tripped and almost knocked hisself out

I love this episode. Things get so crazy real fast, and it's just a regular episode of season 1 (not the season premiere or finale). But the best is yet to come. :D

I feel like if they had made the visions or choice parts theyre trying to get multiple choice feel with the time loop thing like final destinations visions and have those affect the plot it could have been miles better imo.

I've said this since I first saw this, but the focus on whether or not the kid is at fault is weird. Even if he decided to throw the bat at the pitcher then run backwards around the bases, the appropriate response is not to beat him into a coma.
