How Good Is The Simply Draw App? An Honest Review
✏️ Try Simply Draw Now: apps.apple.com/us/app/simply-draw-learn-to-draw/id1639875485
✍️ My Drawing Tools List: amzn.to/3OnZJWd
In this video I'm reviewing the Simply Draw app, an easy to use tool that is recommended by professional art teachers and perfect kids and beginner artists wanting to learn to draw. Simply Draw is a course app that offers step-by-step drawing tutorials, helping beginners and young artists learn to draw in three major tracts: nature, animals, and characters. The app is primarily tailored for ages 7 and up, but honestly it’s a great art education tool that supports creative growth for all ages. I'm giving my full review of this new drawing app, listing what I like, what I wish, and what I don't like about the app.
Thank you to Simply Draw for providing me with a premium account so that I could try out a variety of courses and see how robust the tutorials are. It allowed me to get a much better idea of what's included and what people should expect.

I hate simply draw. It makes you pay. It should be free.
That was exactly the video I was looking for! Thank you!!
How to download i can't do it in playstore
I tried it it’s making me pay to do more😢😢😢😢😢😢
I tried it it’s making me pay to do more😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yea it happened to me too
i was under the impression you need to change those every 6 months....?
This will really depend on how much you draw.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
SketchPro is already for Android 🎉
Nice! Good to hear.
Thank you migo, this was really informative!
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
But why can u just make 1 or 2 drawings and then you need to pay 😭😭😭😭
Fr 😭
Fr like why can’t I just draw for free😭
I also had this thought and hesitation, but after getting into the app and seeing how robust it is, with the many different lessons that seem to go on forever, I do think there is massive value in the app at large, so I think the nominal yearly subscription price is pretty fair per month. The way the courses are broken down are really helpful, and much more orderly, versus most SkillShare classes you'll find.
You can definitely draw for free! Haha, it's just the rest of the app lessons that would be paid.
Huge Spirited Away & Studio Ghibli fan!!! Book is amazing, thanks for sharing. Please share more Spirited Away collectibles. As you know their following is massive.
So happy to hear that! Glad you liked the book. And sounds good! Will definitely be sharing some of the collectables over time. One of my favorites are the playing cards!
Thanks for the review, Drew! Glad you're enjoying the app, and we'll definitely be passing along your feedback to the rest of the team.
Amazing! Super happy to hear that.
Can you add? you can switch to mobile and paper please and it’s kind of expensive❤
Hi. I’m just wondering why do i need to pay for the next drawing?
And can you pls do it free?
Affinity Photo is better than them all. One time fee available for PC, Mac, ipad
Affinity Photo is fine, but not really for drawing. :)
New sub
Thanks a ton!
What do you think about the Simply Draw app? ✍
It’s good but you have to pay irl money for everything else
It’s good but you need to pay after you have done 1-2 drawing
Totally agree. Love Studio Ghibli. Seen Spirited Away heaps of times but when my mother passed away in 2021, Spirited Away took on a whole new meaning for me, especially the Sixth Station scene, the imagery, the music, roughly a year after her passing I found this same book, at a 2nd hand bookshop. Paid $25(AUD) for it. As I got to the pages with the Sixth Station artwork, I started getting emotional, bit teary, thinking of Mum, how I feel about her & how I felt when watching that scene in the movie. Good books move us.
Wow thanks for sharing your story! It's so amazing how many emotional connections have been made to this movie, myself included. I can still remember the first time I saw it, and what it meant to me (then and now).
The reason it is not charging is because you put on the sleeve wrong there is a thin side and the magnets must be on the this side.
Thanks! I actually turned it around and tried on all sides of the pencil, and for some reason could get it to stick, but not charge. Might just have been a defective product. It happens!
good one very informative in very less time
Thanks for watching!
Have you ever heard about "FANTASIA PAINTER"!!???
I've been following your Creative Market saga since i followed your approval video. I just want to say that I started CM back in 2015 if im not mistake and I sold very well there consistently. A few years ago, specifically when they make considerable changes in the team and the platform (and probably algorithm to), sales started to decrease and i stopped to upload content regularly. 2 months ago i started to upload again almost every week and the math is very simple, no one see my products. I got 2 sales on 2 different products when I launch them with just 3 or 4 views, and then silence. After 2 months I still have the same views I got in the first week - 4 or 6 or 7. And I think I know the reason but that's will be a conversation for a post not a TH-cam comment. Anyway, no one is going to buy from you if no one sees your items, and I remember very well to get 100 views in the first hour after releasing something. CM used to be my favorite Market place (and im selling in almost all of them for more that 10 years), unfortunately not anymore. Though, Im still hooping they change some things, but in the meantime you have better alternatives.
Thanks for sharing your story here. Maybe I'll put together a video about this, as I have a couple of theories on why products get or don't get views. I'm late on making an update video, which I should do, but the quick gist is that I have made consistent sales on 3 of the 13 products I have on Creative Market. One is a font, one is an asset pack, and one is an icon pack. I would say the font is the winner, with several sales per month. Again, I'll try to make a video soon about this.
I tried one similar and inhated that the higher end ones all roatate at the base ....who truely needs that?? Its annoying me when I work, at least let us fixate it in one position....
Fixed position would be cool. I like the rotation because I can adjust my computer how I want it when I'm not using it for my iPad.
@ I can rotate it without using this mechanism, so def. a feature that bothers me when I tend to lean a bit.
Brrruh I can SMELL those pages all the way from here😍😍
Haha, these kind of smell like local book store, but definitely not a bad thing!
Not mentioning Krita is criminal
Haven't heard of that one!
This looks so good, but I wonder if it's for someone who draws with their palm sticking on the iPad? I mean, my hand needs stability. I wonder if it will move (collapse down) when my hand is resting on it while drawing.
That's a great point. I think that it is pretty sturdy, and I have rested my palm on it while drawing. However, I do think it will move if you were to rest your entire arm on it, as it's not exactly an easel for art. I would say, if you plan to use it for multiple uses (like putting your laptop on it + drawing on your iPad) then give it a try! You can always return it.
Which Studio Ghibli film is your favorite? 👀
I am an artist and i still love physical books with art reproduction. I remember seeing an episode of Star Trek Next Generation, and Captain Picard is reading a real book, not a digital book. We have a need for tactile feed back. We love touch, and intimacy.
Definitely always a good idea to pick up a physical book now and again.
What do you think about this Book on Books? 🧐
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
I use 3 finger gestures all the time in my iPad - can you do that with this glove as the ring finger is covered?
Yep! First two fingers and your thumb, which is usually how I do it.
What about Canva?
Canva is not a drawing specific app, so it was not included here.
AMEN ! brother art is my life and ive been doing it since I was a tot... now I see lettering in a new light. Ive always liked it. but the iPad & procreate has really helped.... whats paper? lol
Haha, the iPad can definitely speed things along!
How long after a rejection can I reapply? And if I send my portfolio, is it okay to use Behance and Dribble?
I reapplied pretty much the next day.
I had to keep telling myself that this review is for begining artists because #1 on my list is Clip Studio Paint, which CAN BE intimidating for the new artist. It has tons of similarities to Adobe Photoshop, including the ability to animate, but it's focused on manga/comic book illustrators (that's me!). If CSP had the ability to have text curve to a path like Adobe Illustrator, it would be PERFECT. Autodesk Sketchbook IS free. And Sketchbook is a delight to use. You are correct and people who are saying otherwise are not telling the whole truth. Sketchbook PRO, however is a paid subscription, and with the PRO version you get a myriad number of tools. Both the free version and the PRO version are very easy to use for a beginner. The only con: If you are looking to publish a comic book or an illustrated book, publishers still accept work saved in Illustrator format, at least that's been my experience. If anyone here has experienced otherwise, please let me know. So I agree with your list. For artists that are new to digital art creation, for price, ease of use, and platform flexibility, Autodesk Sketchbook is the #1 choice. But for more seasoned digital artists who are focused on publication, Clip Studio Paint is the new gold standard... I just need the publishers of the United States to realize that and not insist on csp files being converted to.ai.
Excellent video, as usual.
Thanks for watching!
but a 512gb sd card is only 41 dollar these days or 1 tb for 90 dollar. why bother with an external disk?
The iPads have limited space, so it's always good to have something you can back up to, and also work off of.
@@VincitDesignCo That is what I meant about the sd card. Cheap, easy. I put a 512 one in my tablet and my phone, and keep one in a usb c reader in my key chain. All quick easy and swapable ☺ I recommend you do that.
Sketchbook doesn't have a backup system
I haven't had an issue. 👀
@VincitDesignCo I used to use this app since 2017, it used to be able to ask for logins and load your old files. But it doesn't now. Also once I spent 3hrs on doing hair strands and my tablet died and lost all my progress. When I saved it multiple times. When you delete the app it can also lose your progress or if you don't complete a project within months. I lost a few artworks in the past couple of years. But that can just be me.
@VincitDesignCo if you look at the Google play store reviews, slot of other people had the same issue
I like Tayasui Sketches, it’s easy to use, although I want more features in updates…
Definitely!
I thought Fresco was $10 one time fee..
I believe Fresco has recently become free!
@@VincitDesignCo oh wow, thanks
Would you use a primer if you did this outside?
Usually the latex paint should be fine on it's own, even on the ground. You can also get paint with primer already mixed in.
Well i'm not sure if you mentioned Infinite paint? This App look similar as proreate. And infiniti for android user
Excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I believe the George Bain Celtic Art Methods of Construction is the best and most useful. It shows how to draw the designs and it is a great resource for the different types of designs: knotwork, spirals, key patterns, and more.
Nice!
Infinite painter
WHY NOT YOU HAVE
Never heard of that one.
Is it necessary to attach an example file in my Behance portfolio or is presentation images enough?
The images should technically be enough, but if you can link it to your personal website that would probably be preferred.
bro is using left hand 💀 Respect !
Haha left hand peeps unite!
7:30 this guy has no idea about animation for sure. quote n quote "we are not probably using it soo much as an animator" 💀💀
You've pulled a quote out of context that doesn't make sense. My point was about the difference between needing to draw frame by frame vs. using an advanced software to do the animation for you. Either way, thanks for watching.
@@VincitDesignCo when you try to flip an object or a box in animation atleast, you will need to draw it by hand as the prespactive and the shape that the camera is seeing with change, and the thing that page was showing was called squash and stretch which is one of the 12 principals in animation, an animator needs to learn to draw / master all of them. The squash and stretch gets used in showing the viewers the scance of weight or the state of the object as a pingpong ball with suqash and stretch when you drop or throw it in real life and if you're trying to make the ball made out of metel, it will not be squash and stretch in the process.it's just the thingy you got worng . But thanks for thw recommendations though. I got that book after seeing your video because if has though walking cycles and acting ways to show emotions in animation. I was struggling with figuring out how to put that scance of sprinting or slowly walking for sneaking motion when i was drawing my pillow walking cycle ❤️❤️
If only Procreate was available for Android... Too bad I can't use it since I'm boycotting Apple.
Definitely frustrating.
HiPaint
You forgot to mention one thing about sketchbook, once you exit the app, your drawing is not saved
Hm. I've not had that happen before.
What happened to the test of the pentip?
I honestly didn't see any difference so didn't feel like I needed to add it.
