Beautiful tank and discus 👍✌️🇨🇦🙏
👍but that’s one ugly pussy cat lol ✌️🇨🇦
Would you please help me. I'd like to make a 29-gallon 1st and then a 75-gallon tank. Do I need a sump for the 75-gallon? As far as the kitty litter, I found special kitty natural clay, but it doesn't say it's baked it says non clumping. Do you know if it is safe to use? I bought laterite and oil dry also. I really going to maybe getting anubias plant and Java Fern. I don't need to skimp on substrate. Your tank and fish are so beautiful!! 🙏 for your husband. Blessings!
Yep The Companies took all the Laterite from the huge deposits in Australia The Conspiracy Was a good video till that
Hello. This video was done a long time ago. I hope I can still reach you. How often do you have to break the entire system down to clean and start back over again? How does it keep operating since it's just kitty litter? Thanks for the response.
Hello. Did you do a video of the sump set-up? How're your fish now. Why change the pre-filter inside the plastic container with the white lid filled with filter material? Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful tanks. How long did it take for the nitrates to reach zero in the community tank?
I bought a 20-year-old 200-gallon Oceanic tank on the Facebook marketplace for $500.00. It's been up and running for 6 months and I absolutely love it, keep searching you'll get your deal eventually. Oceanic tanks are a great buy even if they are 20 years old like mine, they are very thick in glass and very well built. I just put in some BCB bags in my sump, it's only been a couple of weeks hoping for great results. I could not put in a plenum cause everything has been in place and running for 6 months I'm hoping that the BCB bags will do the trick in lowering my nitrates. Your tanks look amazing!
So glad I found your channel ( I have to refresh YT a ton) anyways, the tanks look great and your Discus are wow! The colors are popping! I am going to use anoxic & plenum as well on my tank. It is a 240 gl AquaDream tank. Their tanks are gorgeous and come in different sizes and colors, worth looking into, if one has the budget to make pymts on their big tanks. Hope the recovery goes well and is speedy, ty for sharing.
Beautiful fish and tank. 👌👍
Do you run a plenum as well?
WHY YOU STOP MAKING VIDEOS
Very nice tank and fish, well done!
I made 2 bcb bags and stuck them in a modified Fluval 407 (cut the bottoms of 2 of the trays out). The bags are essentially supended between my mechanical sponges & a carbon basket. It is filtering a 90 gallon aquarium with 12 large adult angels, a 7" red shoulder severum, 4 hillstream loaches, 4 bristlenose plecos and 8 corydoras. Nitrates 0 using API test!
Maybe laterite comes from a country that no longer wishes to do business with the united states or has experienced upheaval...or ...something of that nature...maybe API just decided it wasn't worth selling as they were making no money off of it....just thoughts on where the laterite may have gone...
Good information, can i substitute cat litter for zeolite?
Yes you can. OIl-Dri, Safe T-Sorb are best.
Very disappointed that there was not an update on the performance of the anoxic filtration system, even though the title indicated there would be an update.
The update: th-cam.com/video/zuGP0fRsWWk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j7JGhdHjTUEkFRDR
Beautiful tanks..
I hope you guys are okay I see you haven’t posted for quite some time would love to know how the tanks are getting on
Too many changes. Not necessary. Please work on your volume when you record your videos. Also no negative or personal remarks.
Lucky guy. Congrats
Lovely tank but the uv there will cause a leak it'll melt the sealant on sump then water everywhere happened to someone I know
Hi, can you give the dimensions of your bcb? I am planning on building it for my 150G and how many bcbs may be required? Thanks in advance.
Any update on your bcb performance? 😀
Are your BCBs still working I'm looking at doing this so trying to get an idea as to how long they last
BCB's shouldn't go bad or get clogged. The idea is to have the water flow around them not through them.
You need to double your recording volume! Nice work utilising Dr. Novak's research.
Sorry but you don't have a plenem so that's why you have nitrates u shouid t get them at all no matter how long the wc been
Salty, thank you very much for yr videos and also Dr. Kevin Kovac, l passed half day all the tecnical explanations of how the BCB baskect's work, FANTASTIC informations, is yr sistem still working well?
Hello. I hope this finds you safe and well. Can you please give an update re the BCB filtration system.
I sought I will see Nitrate level close to zero.... Have you tried using purigen?
Any updates? How much do you feed over a month? And do you fertilizer the plants at all?
very nice video. Where did you get the white jug in ur aquarium? thx
Do you use air hose as described by dr Kevin Novak since you already use BCB asa Anoxic filtration.
Beautiful tank and discus...but Dr Novak's BCB setup isn't a miracle solution...those fish need a bigger tank... they've probably grown since you introduced the anoxic filter.
👌❤
Super tank why dont you update your tank mam
One month without water changing is absolutely not something to be proud of. One month it's nothing.
Much better than having to change water every week though.
@@Sinserg Specially for a discus tank.
Lovely tank , my community tank is fine but I have nothing but problems with discus
Can you give us an update on your tank Please Thinking about setting up one of those filters
Amasing tank. How is your tank and BCB's, here at the 2 year mark.
Update Please How is the BCBs working
Hello are you still active? I’m setting up a tank like this with no sump. I hand fluval fx4 canister filter I want to place baskets in. Also layers of clay and fluorite red over a plenum
There was another fellow BCB user that I followed here on YT (Luke) that tried using a canister filter for the baskets. I haven't followed up with him lately so don't know the outcome; however, if you could regulate the water flow low enough to gently pass through the baskets, then I think it should have a measure of success.
dunno if you guys cares but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few days :)
@Forest Ellis Definitely, I have been using Instaflixxer for since december myself :)
I can't find laterite. Is there anything you recommend?. Would lava rock work? It's high in iron.
Anything high in iron will work, including kitty litter saturated with iron supplement. Laterite is only used for the iron helping the bacteria to colonize quicker
Hi could you tell me is the material in that special kitty cat litter zeolite? I just watched your video and heard you mention that it is pure zeolite. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.👍
Hi Dan, Yes I believe the clay in the litter is zeolite... the bag claims it's 100% clay (which should be zeolite). 👍🏽
Salty Sphynx thanks for the reply.👍 does this type of filter need to be recharged then..or can it be left with no maintenance at all? We know zeolite will have to be recharged in normal applications. So how does actually work please..
@@cichlidsofthesoutheast.since19 Yes, It will need recharging with the laterite eventually. Dr Kevin Novak has many videos explaining the science behind it, and I think I remember him saying a liquid iron injection would recharge the BCBs - am sure timing will vary dependent on size, chemistry etc, but I think he injected his after 5 years.
Salty Sphynx...so was there any other way... apart from regular testing that will give any indication that these filters are exhausted and will need attention. I’m sorry for all the questions. But I’m interested in this and who better to ask than somebody who’s having very good results. Hope you don’t mind.
@@cichlidsofthesoutheast.since19 Don't mind at all. Yes, testing is going to be your best indicator - After 2 years, we're still getting zero readings on NO2- and NH3/NH4+, with NO3- ranging 5-20ppm tops (acceptable range). As an alternative filtration method, we've been very pleased with the BCBs - we do also have a sponge filter in the last chamber of our sump, which I think has been helpful as well. Our 29 gal tank has two sponge filters as primary filtration, with my little BCB "tacos" that I created under the plenum - it's just as healthy (if not healthier) than our 100 gal tank.
Tried 2 types of of special kitty, both turned mud,iam guessing Mafia put a cap on this
kitty litter is very inconsistent, I've had better results with the stuff for oil spills, one kind is called oil sorb, it's all natural clay just like kitty litter but baked much hotter and longer resulting in a much harder media that wont turn to mush. I just used some and it worked great.
But wouldn't that be normal on a plated tank with a light bio load like you show? Millions have done just that.
In the disks tank are you useing air to move water through the Plenum? Or can you just set up the kitty litter etc under the substrate and get the same results?
We purposely set it up with the void under the plenum to derive further anoxic benefit. The bubble wall air bubbler sits just on top of the plenum and so we assume creates a gentle pull of water underneath. So far the tank's numbers are holding steady with this method and the BCBs.
Beautiful fish - I reckon a person who cares for fishies cares for everything in this world
Nice school of rummies!
