Hi there. I am a 30 y.o. from Slovakia and I live on the Gold Coast, too. I relate to all pros and cons of life in Australia that you stated. Another con of Australia is that everything is so stretched out and far away, especially if you don't live in the center of the city... If you live in a suburb like me, you have to travel for a long time just to get somewhere. For example, sometimes, I want to go to a concert but I realize it takes one-two hours by car to get there. Or I want to go to the cinema, but it is 40 minutes away by car. Everything is so far away... And also, another con is that there is not much nightlife or cultural events... It is less culturally interesting than in Europe. So if you are into arts and culture, there is not much to do here.
