Ulanzi U-Mic AM18 issue with lavalier microphones
Hello,
I've bought an Ulanzi U-Mic AM18 from AliExpress and have an issue with connecting lavalier microphones tot the transmitters. I've connected a standard TRS 3.5mm mini jack lavalier mic and it wasn't detected by the transmitter, the sound was still coming from the transmitter's internal microphone.
Figured out the Ulanzi Arimic has a 4-pin TRRS mini jack input so I ordered a similar microphone with a TRRS mini jack and again it wasn't working, sound was still coming from the internal mic.
Then I connected the TRRS lav mic with the included TRRS to TRS adapter and it started working, the sound was coming from the lav mic, however, there was an audible ground noise, buzzing when I was not holding the transmitter in my hands.
Is there something wrong with the transmitters? What type of lavalier microphones should I use to get them detected by the transmitter and avoid buzzing noise?
This issue is making the wireless system unusable for me :(

Mine works just perfect with the Hollyland lavs for Lark Max
Hi guys i had the same issue. And i tried the same neweer lav that was not working. With an trs 3.5mm female to male trs 3.5mm extension cord .and it worked fine with no base noise at all.

I have the same problem. I can't solve it, ulanzi support is silent!
Have you contacted Ulanzi for support?
Their answer - friend , this is external mic compatibility issues, please remove the external micto use it

Here is the thing Ulanzi sees all these comments but they say nothing.

Cześć udało Ci się jakoś to rozwiązać?
Actually, I use the exact same setup as yours and found out that the TRRS to TRS adapter is the issue. I know that because I bought two of the same adapters as yours and two TRRS lavs. One adapter was buzzing while one didnt. Used the non-buzzing one on both lavs and sure enough, both lavs sounded ok. Used the buzzing adapter and as expected, both had the buzz. my guess is that the adapters have poor QC, some are shielded properly while others arent. You should maybe get new adapters and see if you are lucky enough to get good ones to use. UPDATE: After some testing, it seems that this is indeed more of an issue on the Ulanzi. Both adapters work good enough on my camera (though one is still noisier than the other). Still, it does seem that with the right mic/adapter, it is indeed possible to get good results from the Ulanzi. The one adapter with low buzz works well for me so yeah.
Mine TRRS lavs with TRS adapters work perfectly fine while plugged directly into a camera or a recorder. Only when connected to AM18 there's buzzing noise, so in my case I'm sure that's not an issue with the adapters. However, I found out that using TRRS lavs with TRS adapter and another adapter back to TRRS fixes this buzz issue in 90%.
@@adammarciniak3564 I see, I suppose some better lavs would work better. Saw that your other comment said the Smallrig L1 works ok, hws your exprience with it? does it need the double dongle trick to work?
@@adamjan I see. I did sorta fix the issue more permanently with foil and tape to shield the transmitters. Already have the L1 shipping to me, will certainly see if it works well when I get it.
Alguém poderia me ajudar?

Problem z budżetowymi mikrofonami krawatowymi to jedno.

I get mine tomorrow and will test out the issue as I ordered separate lavalier mics
does it work?
@adammarciniak3564 so it seems with the lavaliers that I ordered separately for them did not work, so will try another set when they arrive. But i connected a shotgun mic and it worked with no issue. Might be a compatibility issue with certain lavaliers, which not sure why that would happen.
yes?
@@VetAwareProject happened the same here, shotgun mic works, 8 months already, found out some way to work things out?
@Alam241 so I purchased another lavalier microphone and regularly did not work and had to install the adapter it came with for it to read it. I havent used the lavalier much but in order to need the adapter which is a drawback if you do not have one
i had the same problem with the ground noise only ...i fixed it with a piece of tin foil and some electric tape...just on the front side of each transmiter, i put a piece of foil the size of the tape and wraped the tape around to stick in place...its not the ideal solution but it worked for me. the lavs i have are the saramonic SR-UM10-M1.
Tienes algún video tutorial?
I have the same issue. I will order the adapter in the next days then I will see if I have the a ground noise as well. Thanx for sharing your expiriences.
I can confirm mine works perfectly with a standard TRS lavalier
Which lav? Stereo or mono input?
@oriotophotography do you mind sharing which TRS lavalier you use? like maybe the brand or model?
@@jonaslcx its the one from the f1 zoom recorder
@@oriotophotography ouhh ok hope they do sell only the lavalier without the recorder
