My AVM Story
On May 17, 2014, my life changed forever. Experiencing one of the worst headaches in my life, I was rushed to the emergency room. I became unconscious for 2 weeks, where I was on life support and trying my best to survive. With a miracle, I survived and able to share my story with others!

Hello Madi. I hope you are doing well today? My name is Eddie Price and I am from Wayne County, North Carolina with a 28578 zip code. Would you believe that I had an AVM with a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in the Occipital ( in the Left Posterior (Back of the Head ). This was back in the year of 1978. December 19, 1978 I was 20 years old that year. I went through 8 hours of Surgery on that day. My Neurosurgeon told me and my family that I was a miracle. Plus if I continue to improve that I would be a miracle for sure. Guess what I have been one ever since. Now that was a gift from God. I hope and pray for you the same and even more. Please listen to me you can do anything you want to. Just know your limitations. Please just know your limitations. That's all.

Hi Madison. My son Matthew is 36 and he had a ruptured AVM too this morning. He is in ICU and they aren’t very hopeful. I have hope but I need to be patient and thank you for sharing this because he needs time to heal. I hope he wakes up like you did. He is so loved and too young. Keep kicking butt. God bless you. I tried to send a message on tick Tok but couldn’t. Your an inspiration to all that have suffered from a stoke. When I was younger my grandfather suffered from one as well and was wheelchair ridden. To have the support of family and loved ones is one of the most important things. Don’t listen or read with the trolls are saying. It’s awesome that you are showing others the day to day struggle that you have to go through. So many people don’t know what a stroke is or even the signs or that it can hit you at any age. Love your work and keep it up. 🥰

After my stroke doctors told my mother to terminate life saving efforts that I'd never see walk or talk that I'd be dead in months that was 13 years ago I walk with a limp I drive a Golfcart I see better can talk it just gets difficult getting the words out. And my punctuation is almost nonexistent but its always been that way. So that showed me theres not enough research of strokes in young people so in may of 2022 I'll be leaving on a cross Canada charity ride to raise money for just that

Hi Madison: My name is Jonalen Gamis (30 in December 31, 1989) and I live in Richmond, BC. I suffered an aneurysm in January 8, 2019, this year while I was in a restaurant. I was in the ICU for two months and could not move my right side. I was an inpatient, outpatient, and intense rehab program (IRDP) at GF Strong. Now COVID-19, GF Strong work at home, Speech (one on one) and IPad (in group) so far it’s been going great. I walk every day. I used to be on a wheelchair before, then I started to use a cane and now I am slowly getting better without a cane. My right leg and a walking pole and wearing an arm brace using my right arm. I am continuing to work on sounds, comprehension, writing to help with my reading. Texting is hard even though I know what to say. I read your story (TH-cam). Thank you - I know what it’s like, the struggle, long hours, every bone in my body, cried to sleep. It’s worth it. I can talk, speak, write, stand, walk around, run and someday I’ll be back to normal just like you. Don’t give up! Thank you again. ☺️ Sincerely, Jonalen

Mine ruptured when I was working out with marine recruiters. I don’t remember getting a headache or loosing feeling I just remember getting really dizzy and I guess I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital and they performed emergency surgery. Strokes caused me to lose my left peripheral (hopefully temporary, that’s what I’m told anyways) While I was in the hospital doing pt ot and st every time I stood up I’d get dizzy and that’s gone (thankfully) so I can stand up and not get really dizzy. But I also stayed in the hospital for two-ish months. I was lucky enough to only have problems with my peripheral not my speech or any limbs. God was watching out for people like you and me on those days.

Wow Anna Pinho ! Your story is similar to mine. If you don’t mind me asking, How is your walking? Did they stabilize your AVM or did they take it out? I know you feel with your hand. My doctors told me that the hand is the hardest thing to come back. Thank you so much for commenting and telling me your story. It is way I do the videos to tell mine and hear yours. Thank you ❤️

No how you feel was paralyzed on my right side for about a month could move my right hand after a while but my right leg was the biggest struggle. The therapist had me do electro shock therapy on my leg to get it moving again. It was strange but my leg works great now.

You should put this video on www.avmsurvivors.org Its a website that I’m on just talking with others that have had similar struggles. There is usually someone that is new on here once a month or so that is dealing with what we have gone through or someone’s family member that is dealing with an AVM and has so many questions about how it effects them.
