Labour in trouble? Gaza & The Fight for Birmingham with Jody McIntyre | EP5
This episode has it all: political drama, community power, and a grassroots campaign that nearly pulled off the upset of the century. We’re sitting down with Jody McIntyre, the man who took on Labour’s Jess Phillips in Birmingham Yardley and came within 500 votes of toppling the establishment.
From accusations of misogyny and criminal behaviour to a disturbed political climate, we’re breaking down the controversies that rocked this campaign and Jody does NOT hold back
But this isn’t just about the drama-it’s about real people fighting for real change. We dig into the power of community, the untapped potential of grassroots movements, and how the ongoing genocide in Gaza became a rallying point for voters.
How did a campaign that started with nothing almost change the game? And what’s next for Jody and Birmingham Yardley? This is politics, raw and unfiltered.

Lol don't let them in, they pretend to be meek until they have a majority, then trounce rights and impose their ways on everyone. I know this as I went to an Islamic Sunday school, and my father escaped a Muslim country. Do not let them organize or immigrate en masse if you love your culture, they'll replace it with their intolerant, militant "religion". It's a religion of conquest.
As a minority myself who is now a citizen, I understand both sides. Many Muslims seem to vote in-line with the same type of politicians and policies of their home country…the very same country and government that they chose to flee in search of better opportunities. I just think that’s something we all should consider and make smart voting decisions. Don’t try to radicalize the country that you are living in.
Don’t make the country you live in like the one you left
The reason people are afraid of muslims gathering is because they then try to change the local laws to fit their own narrative. Sharia law has no place in society, except in muslim nations.
Maa shaa Allah, always interesting to listen to Jody. Ps, I think the audio quality of the recording is too clear.
Great podcast, MashaAllah
Do not use Instruments in your podcast episodes. This is haram as per the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
there is no straight verse in the Quran telling us that listening to music is haram. However there are many ahadith forbidding listening to music or musical instruments. According to some scholars specific instruments are halal as said in hadith, like the tambourine
@@SimonDefra Sahih Al Bukhari 5590 be like: Am I a joke to you?
Zionists
Keep religion out of politics
No
i would not do it and shut the F up
Googly eyes!!
It’s strange that all the progressive thinkers don’t make it to the mainstream media. One day, fingers crossed 🤞
Why do scholars say Muslim women can't be politicians?
We need Jeremy Corbyn as leader to save this country 😢
