Jet boat UHMW

Got tired of destroying the bottom of my boat so I covered it with 1/2” thick UHMW. Should be significantly stronger and slide over the rocks easier.

would you recommend the cx racing turbo kit is costs around 2200$ but the magnesium super charger costs more so idk what i wanna do.
how did it run with that engine height?i have a new tunnel boat and i think the maker mounted the engine to low
Nice boat but very poor location for a fire extinguisher.
Any way you could share the dimensions on you tunnel length height and width.
I’ll never own another 2 stroke after getting a 4
Thats a really nice boat i want one like it
2 liter or 2.5? Really nice build, btw.
Great video....I have a 1998 Sea Ark 16MVT with a 50hp Etec with tiller tilt/trim and a 4" Atlas Micro jack plate. When the jack plate is call the way up and the boat is trimmed 3.8 seconds the prop is in line with the tunnel. It is a river man's dream boat. I can get to places only people with similar boats su h as MVT, MvJT and surface outboard (mud motors) can get to. I do not have pods on the back not what you have on the back of yours. I bought mine this past May (2023).
i don't see any water coming out of your engine, is your water pump working, or are you too high out of the water to pull cooling water
The puppy is awesome, nice work on this project!
2 crappy subi's in the dark 🤯🤯🤯🙄🙄🙄
What were you expecting?
@@fabricobblegarage9545 at least 1 WRX WITH A WHALETAIL! I think they should be called "ru's" not subi's.....sounds a little less S&M, don't want to offend the targeted ownership group,🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic work!
Thanks, appropriate it!
How long did this take you to build
I worked on it here and there for maybe a month.
Would be more interesting in better pictures
Have the same size boat with a factory tunnel, 3" or so never really measured it. Mines not vented but you can feel the arse end lift up, when it really gets on plane. Only have a 30hp 2 stroke, get around 27 28 mph by myself, 13" prop.
I didn't really think my vent design through, the way it enters the tunnel doesn't allow water to drop out. I should have made the little pocket span the width of the tunnel. Would have created more vacuum drawing more air, and distributed it more evenly. The way it is now i just get a little 2" wide pocket of air, but even so when you open the valve you can feel the boat lift up and get a bit looser.
12 foot skiff 3 inches too ppaning 1.5 iñcherh of water
How was durability? Hows exposed aluminum ribs between umhw holding up?
plastic holds up great. I should have done something to protect the ribs too, there rock targets. Have sliced therm open twice now.
What type of welding
Tig.
Can’t fix stupid
Did adding the intake fins fix the cavitation
Sort of. They added a bit of rear lift, and got rid of all the ventilating i was getting in the chop. My biggest problem was keeping it hooked up in hard turns, didn’t really help with that. I ended up dropping the motor 1/4” which helped a little, but it still doesn’t stay hooked in the corners like it did with the prop.
Where is this river? Rock bottom or mud?
Just a little creek off the Missouri River. Starts out as mud turns to gravel then rock
I am interested in building one myself. I was wondering what do you think about it and how did you come up the the dimensions for the tunnel?
There’s a formula for jet tunnels on outboardjets.com prop tunnels are a little different
Nice work. How does it perform?
Works great. It’s pretty nice being able to drive right over logs and not have to worry about the prop, or lower unit.
Ohh
Still got this boat? Looks good. Why not run a jet?
jet outbsrds best
How did you know how big to make your tunnel? Thinking of adding a tunnel to my 17 River Ox and want to make sure it's big enough to feed a 60 hp motor.
There’s a formula on outboardjets.com
Gasconade!
How is it holding up? I completed my UHMW install today, but I added aluminum angle to cover the places between the UHMW (runners?).
Plastic is holding up good, so far I like it. I wish I would have done something to protect the the area in between though, I’ve got a few good dents.
What material is the black switch panel made from on the console?
just a piece of aluminum
Nice boat for the intercostal water way. Good work fixing everything.
Junk + Junk = more junk.
usually. Everything is working good now though.
What type of tabs are you running?
Just some that i made
I am building a 1660 Lowe roughneck with a 80hp jet. The motor weighs 378lbs I had pods welded on. Helps with the extra weight.
How did you add the side console
it was a factory option
FrankenJet will be fun.
Another way to vent or add air to the tunnel is to put a couple of 1/2 inch tubes in the tunnel that run from just proud of the transom to near the forward edge of the tunnel. If the forward edge detail creates a low pressure zone the air is drawn up the tubes from the transom end. The advantage of is system is that there are no hull penetrations
The old Mercury "Tower of Power" outboards. Great old motors!
I love it! 47 years old runs perfect, and sounds amazing
Your craftsmanship is amazing. Good job! I've had two G3 tunnel hull boats. Neither one had a relief tube in the tunnel like yours.
Thanks! The aluminum welding took some getting used to.
How fast and how shallow?
30 mph, will run in 4". Can blast through 1 or 2" but it'll start picking stuff up off the bottom
very, very clean boat
Thanks! I tried to keep it as uncluttered as i could.
Ya need a 4 inch hydraulic jack plate ,run whole lot better. Great job on rebuild ,looks good!
What pitch prop are you running, and what horsepower is the motor?
Can’t recall what prop I had on there. Motor was a Yamaha 40.
love thee episodes man really entertaining me at the moment how's the car doing now
Thanks. Cars running strong just doesn’t get driven much, think my buddy is scared of it 😂
Where did you get that dry box? I have the same boat and am looking for one
Hunter Royal Not sure where it came from, was in the boat when I got it.
What size is this
Camilia McNabb 1652
what is your fish finder set up?
Can you pressure wash that marine foam out? is it safe on an aluminum boat?
Are you talking about the mats on the deck?
How difficult was it to convert the tunnel on the bottom of your boat? I just bought a 1756 05 Lowe Roughneck for cheap that I'm wanting to turn into river jet boat with either an inboard or outboard. Would love to see your entire setup! Thanks man!
It wasn’t too hard to do. I just flipped the boat upside down to do the cutting and welding, that made it pretty easy.
What is that boat model? 1648?
1652
Did the find help w/ loosing water & blowing out? What welder are you using- I saw previous video where you installed tunnel was tuning your set up- Nice work
How's it run now w/ uhmw vs before? Can you recommend one way or another?
I didn’t really notice much of a difference. Top speed and handling didn’t really change. It’s definitely easier slide off gravel bars when you get stuck now though.
@@fabricobblegarage9545 I want to go from Hwy 28 to Waynesville
What size hull you have there?
1652v
