Mounting a Traxxas Sledge Body on an Arrma Kraton | Clipless Body | Basherqueen Shock Towers
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Video about my issues installing a Traxxas Sledge body on an Arrma Kraton. The shock towers are Carbon Fiber and made by Basherqueen - they're available on ebay. Along with the shock tower "adapters" you need to buy the Traxxas Sledge body mounts and a Sledge body. The body mounts affix to the Basherqueen towers and allow you to mount the Sledge body on the Kraton once everything is installed. ...
Is the Tekno ET48 2.0 a Good Basher?
มุมมอง 4.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
My opinions on running the Tekno ET48 2.0 as a basher, with some comparisons to the Arrma 6S EXB line. Note: Looks like TBR actually has bumpers out for these at the time of posting, they're not my favorite but at least there is an option. I'm of the opinion it's a bit lightweight for serious bashing, but it drives amazing! Check out the video to see why!

    lmao yea ok. the kraton is made of butter. pins snapping all the time, drive cups not lasting long AT ALL, dogbones popping out CONSTANTLY even though there absolutely nothing wrong with anything, diffs giving up, shit bending all time, the screws for the rear wing snapping off in the bulkhead super easily. shocks leaking like a sieve after only a battery pack or 2 (leaking immediately from the start after completely rebuilding). nothing lasts long in that car. i dont bash very hard or jump very high at all either

    Yea agree not a fully capable basher certainly designed for track racing on prepared surfaces where it excells. If bashed rocks pelted from the fronts bounce around the rear suspension and end up inside the cabin where it can damage spur, pinion and center shaft a little too often. Rocks can get wedged in the gaps of rear drive shaft and hinge pins. A rear stone gaurd is a must in these circumstances. Front arms have a lot of leverage and because the arms are designed to be flexible the softness of plastics can with a cumulation of small front crashes elongate the hinge pin holes and A/B block bushing to cause play rather quickly. It's still an awesome vehicle and responds well to tuning setups which is the hallmark difference between other bashers. A little more thought must be taken for this Tekno to be bashed responsibly that's all.

    did you really just say the Arrmas come with excellent diffs? lol ok

    • @TheFatAssCat
      @TheFatAssCat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd wager the Arrma EXB diffs are the strongest ones in a 1/8 scale platform. Are they the highest quality materials? No. But their ring and sun gears/pins are oversized compared to differentials built for 4S (like the Arrma BLX differentials, Tekno differentials, etc). They are certainly not as smooth or consistant as a Tekno differential, but they are made for handling lots of power, not for racing. Which is why I prefer them for a bashing platform.

    I have an ET48 2.0 and it seems like a great truck so far I haven’t had a lot of issues. That said I run on 4S always and have never used 6S. I think Tekno is high quality. But I think they are built for the track like you said. I am really debating selling my ET and getting back into a Arrma Truggy, the Talion exb specifically would suit my driving style best. Tough choice. I think Tekno 1/8 buggies are awsome bashers though, I have a EB48.4 and that thing took a pounding and kept on ticking. I’m tempted to sell my Typhon TLR and Kyosho MP9 and pick up a EB48 2.0. That or a Hobao VS2e. Those buggies seem to get rave review and they look stout

    My 7 year old daughter ran my mt410, with the same ESC/Motor combo, into the rear bumper of a tractor at full throtle lol. The Gorilla tape reinforced body got a small dimple that I had to pop out with a finger and it was good to go for another 2 batteries. The T-bone front bumper or something similar is 100% recommended if bashing a Tekno, similar to what Arrma does with their bumper design...it's meant to take the majority of the impact force off the front suspension components. Many of my buddies have a fleet of arrmas and I have 3 teknos. Don't get me wrong tho, I had to give my teknos the full M2C racing treatment to be as rock solid as they are. The arrmas are very reliable as they come.

    I've been bashing with Tekno for years, and decided to try an X-Maxx and Aarma 8s Outcast. If you want to spend more time bashing then repairs, go with the Tekno. Sounds like this guy hasn't spent enough time on a Tekno to be judging it as a good/bad basher. After a couple years I bet you spend twice as much on Aarma and Traxxas then Tekno.

    • @TheFatAssCat
      @TheFatAssCat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trust me, I've put in the time. My two key factors for me that decided to stick with the Arrmas: 1. Tekno differentials are not made for 6S power and don't stand up well, and nobody makes any worthwhile upgrades for them. You simply cannot bulletproof them. 4S is fine but you lose a lot of bashing performance. 2. All of the upgrades you'll want for the Tekno are going to get expensive in a rig that costs $200 more than an Arrma Kraton EXB from the start. Drive what you like my dude. My Tekno SCT410.3 will be sticking around for a long time as both a racer and a basher. These Truggies on the other hand don't really keep up with my dedicated bashing fleet so, I'm going to keep them on the track where I think they belong. I bought into the hype a couple years ago when I decided to pick up a MT410 and I just wanted to make a video expressing my opinion. Bash on 💪

    Many thanks for this video! Trying to decide on whether to sell my Kraton v4 with many m2c goodies (including chassis) in order to pickup an ET48.3 (also with an m2c chassis). I do some medium level bashing on 6s with my Kraton, however, my latest obsession has been running a local outdoor track with it. It handles like a total pig on track. Can I get away with some moderate bashing with the Tekno? 15 to 20 high airs with downward sloping grass landings is the most common bash setup for me.

    @marcgebeloff2036 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, I have a 410 kit waiting for assembly this winter, I bought it a few months ago but had no rush to put it together while bashing weather was good. I also have a fleet of arrmas 1/8ths, think, that are almost all exb’b or been upgraded to exb spec and there bullet proof! Even the v5 stuff is pretty damn stout… you don’t get the metal braces or LS diffs, but you can buy eBay braces all around for $25 and truthfully I like the regular diffs tuned to LS with heavy fluid almost as much, either way, for bashing arrmas are top of food chain!

      Thanks! Man if I had a BMX track or somthing similar I would have liked the MT410 so much more. Regardless it is a fun build and drives very well, you'll be pleased. Drives great but for sending stuff off ramps like we do it falls a little short imo.

      @@TheFatAssCat the overall quality was what drew me to the to the teknos in the first place, I've seen a few different TH-cam rc people with them and they seem to perform really well. The hyper is superb though, I've been really impressed with the handling the only weak spot I've found so far is the shock pistons. If you stack it really badly somehow then they're easily shattered. The driveline is incredibly stout though and there is a surprising amount of good upgrade parts both manufacturer and aftermarket.

    Great video brother. I agree with some and disagree with some. I had Tekno MT410 it was a great basher no doubt and I recently got the Tekno ET48 2.0. Optional basher bumpers would have been awesome for the 2.0 I totally agree. In terms of upgrade parts M2C got you covered. In terms diffs? Proper shimming is key to long lasting diffs. What I love the most about Tekno as a basher is precise handling and superb air control. They're as good of a basher or maybe even better bashers of dialed in and tuned right.

    • @TheFatAssCat
      @TheFatAssCat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can't be beat in drivability that is for sure. The price to get them aftermarket tough is high though! I am just hoping to avert a repeat of my V4 Kraton that had a lot of great aftermarket bits but could not keep the diffs together (it was otherwise a total tank). The EXB arrma lineup has been a game changer for me, big value and no more blowing diffs if you go big power. I still have the ET48 kicking about (put the motor/esc into my Maxx for now) and we'll see, if others have luck going big I might follow. I think I've spent the rest of this year's RC money over black friday weekend lol. Rock on man!

    The crash that destroyed the shock also broke the front bulkhead, which takes a while to replace. It seems to be a weak point in the tekno platform as I've also seen racers with similar breaks. Just hard to say the Tekno is a better platform when the EXB Kraton roller is almost $200 less and all around a better basher aside from the steering.

      I do believe the Arrma EXB differentials are stronger yes, the MT48 2.0 diffs are not all that different from the MT410 differentials. If you shim these right and don't add a lot of weight the ET48 2.0 diffs will probably last a while. But from the facebook groups I've talked to a number of people who have blown diffs on these. I've only seen a handful of blown EXB differentials, and there are a lot more people bashing with the 6S EXB arrmas than the Tekno.

    I liked the wheels. Can you tell me what is the model number of these wheels.

      They're Traxxas Maxx Chevrons. Great performing tires but they didn't hold up as well as I had hoped, though the set I had was a little old and I didn't vent them. Part number for the tires is TRA5171 . I had them mounted on Traxxas TRA8671 wheels if I remember correctly.

    Do these axles work with the stock configuration without the widners?
