Whole Oregon BDR
We fumbled the cameras this time, sorry if the Ed-view gives you dysentery. Total driving and riding was about 1600 and 1400 miles, respectively. Time on ORBDR was 4 1/2 days with most of the optional routes and caves and sights included.

Soboba Trail Ride 2023 (after a huge storm)
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Ed and I rode Soboba this year in spite of the foreboding weather, and the conditions turned out nearly perfect. I ran out of camera battery by the start of the hard loops, but they were very fun and interesting with the slippery mud. Thanks Brandon for convincing us to sign up!
Utah BDR pt. 7 - To Argyle Canyon and Back
มุมมอง 3.5Kปีที่แล้ว
This was the last leg of our Utah BDR before turning back to St. George. We did not finish in Idaho this round, but it was plenty of adventure for 8 days.
Utah BDR pt. 6 - Some Sand and Singletrack
มุมมอง 3.9Kปีที่แล้ว
This is some of the route on our 7th day, including a singletrack detour that Ed, Pete and I took. It was tough to ride this stuff on the fully loaded big bikes.
Utah BDR pt. 5 - Green River Mud
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
I don't know what this segment of the BDR is called but it was not my favorite. The roads into Green River have a weird choppy flow, maybe we were just tired.
Lockhart Basin on Large Bikes - Utah BDR pt. 2
มุมมอง 42Kปีที่แล้ว
Ed, Pete and I on Lockhart Basin. We are all on KTM 790 / 890 advs. This section was very fun... a couple parts are not easy. Brent met us at the end and we continued to Moab.

peak fitness and perfect technique in Big Bear w/ Ed and Jacob. Gold Mountain, Malcolm Smith, Redonda Ridge, White Mountain (I think?) and some others.
DUDE!!! stop riding so close to the edge, you're freakin' me the hell out! Scared the ssh!t out of me, like, literally. I had to get up and go use the restroom
Seems to me like these guys were in a hurry, riding to close together and making mistakes, I was wondering who was going to need a life flight first
We ride like that on purpose, it's fun. Keep in mind, we also have communication with each other through our headsets. We don't just trust any old rider in this formation, but we've been riding together for many thousands of miles.
Great footage. Hopefully it's a new bike and he just doesn't know the clutch yet. My bike died is a major pass the blame comment though.
That was me who got angry when it flamed out near the end haha These bikes are very lean tuned from the factory and very flame out prone. Yes you can slip the clutch a lot to mitigate that but you burn out the clutch. It's a fine line. Sometimes you get it wrong. Doesn't make it any less frustrating when the bike dies unexpectedly and you get to pick up your 500+ lb machine AGAIN.
I went through there a few years ago, and it's way more torn up when you guys did it. Nice work getting through on the bigger bikes!
Bury me in an unknown grave in the Book Cliffs.
Ed here, the dude in the turquoise suit. Man it's fun to watch this video. I should point out - yes, that's two bundles of firewood lashed to my bike, in addition to a full camp load. So dumb.
Awesome riding and video!! Very well done guys!!
Glad I watched this. I will definitely NOT be attempting this on my BMW GSA solo.
One of the very best bike videos I've seen! Thank you!
People who say the stock ktm rims are weak should watch this video.
so OC.
Wow.
I, though advised against it, went through that section at night by myself. I complained about the deep sand and how dry, powdery and loose it was. I won’t complain anymore. Lol. Nice work gentlemen.
Such a cool video! Sub'd.
Where exactly were you riding?
Cool video! I think the National Park Service should call in The Army Corps of Engineers to smooth that road out.
noooo that'd take away all the fun!
You see why I have a KTM 690 Enduro R now? I rode big BMW GS bikes for decades. No thank you.
Tried a 690 (actually a 701, but same thing). Didn't like it, went back to an 890. If you watch the Colorado video on this channel I was on my 701 there.
Haha my experience was pedestrian compared to this, you flew through it. 100mph+ on gravel? I thought ah they must be Canadians and it’s kph but I didn’t hear a single aboot 😂. Fav section? 3 for me.
section 3 was definitely the best, followed by 7 imo
brilliant place, wow
Is this the main trail, or an alternate advanced route? I am on the BDR website but the map is not showing any advanced sections. If it is the main this is like 200% harder than the WABDR
This is an optional expert route on the Utah BDR, and it's the hardest BDR section of all I think
I would not ride so close to my partner at that speed. Don't care how good he is!
Haha. Keeps us on our toes, and the video footage is fun :) Also means neither of us are eating dust. We also have comms so we can warn each other of obstacles/slowing/etc At this point we've ridden thousands of miles like this, we're pretty comfortable with it. All that said... It's probably not a great idea haha
I watch a lot of BDR channels, and you guys look like you’re having the most fun! I felt like I was on the bike and riding along.
Wow... trying to decide what bike to get. Once on the dirt the 690 is looking better and better! :)
try and ride them both to see for yourself. I thought the 690 would be the obvious best adv since we like the dirt, but just wasn't the case, for me.
I had a 790, then switched to a 701, then back to an 890. The 701 was better in two scenarios: Solo adventuring where it's much easier to pick up by yourself, and deep sand. In every other circumstance the 890 is more fun and just as capable/maybe more capable.
Great video! We started in Monticello did Lockhart, crossed over the valley and did the Utah BDR expert section back south to Monticello. Great loop!
Yep, this whole area is marked impassible if wet for this exact reason. I was getting rained on coming into Green River and bypassed it.
are you guys riding south to north?
yeah
Having a ktm 1090 watching this was exciting and anxiety provoking. Wish I had lighter bike for rides like this
What a ride! Great video/editing. Looks like a strong group on well set up KTM’s. Couple questions; 1. How many miles/hours was the ‘tough section’ of Lockhart? 2. Was it ‘worth it’ using big bike vs say a dual sport? 3. Any other tips/thoughts/words of advise? Thank you.
Lockhart took about half a day, the tough sections are sprinkled throughout. For us the big bikes were perfect as this was a short part of a 1600 mile ride, mostly fire road. My advice is to be realistic about what you're comfortable doing on the bike you choose, and if you can do it over and over all day safely. By default I'd advise anyone to use a dual sport instead!
I don't know, I love this trail, even the mud, lol
Looks like a great ride, y'all made it fun! And as a resident of Sisters I'm sorry to say you encountered one of maybe two days a year where we get fog. Too bad, the Cache MTN view is awesome.
beautiful town!
Rad trip
It's not if but when
Man, Ian got pretty giggly on this trip too! Good times gentlemen.
GREAT VIDEO
I don't know who the laughy person is but I think it would be great fun having you on a trip. Great energy!
Hahaha. That was me 😂
Lol we thought for sure Ed made a secret account to post this comment
@@edenstrang Bahahaha!
awesome riding, well done!
Awesome!!! Drinking and driving don't mix 🙂
Great stuff, good riding indeed 👍 🎉
Nice! 👍🙏
awesome video! Captures the BDR experience really well.
Nice. Plus, now I know not to ride it solo.
There are a couple tricky areas, and conditions are always an unknown
I'm just happy my singing made the final cut.
Very cool!!!
Do you guys even ride, bro?
That was super satisfying, thanks for sharing!
Nice quick edit. Fit my modern attention span perfectly ;)
You have some of the best ADV videos out there. I hope to see more soon!!
Maybe if you spent less time shopping for gear and spent more time riding you'd crash less. BTW BACK THE BLUE
I love it! Using these bikes the way they were meant to be used. The terrain looked fun until around 11:00, then it looked taxing. Then around 16:00 it looks no fun at all, the kind of thing you do because you have absolutely no choice. I need a couple more years of riding before I try stuff like that.
It was definitely challenging. We went into it with big egos and came out of it a little humbled but very happy.
Awesome job. Awesome environment. Keep it up.
