My Personal Top 15 ZX Spectrum Games From 1985
Hello and welcome to the next episode of "My personal TOP games"
The games featured in this episode are my personal top 15 ZX Spectrum games released in 1985, ranked from 15th to 1st.
Thus, this list represents not a 'general top games' list, but my own personal favorites, meaning these are games I played and enjoyed as a kid (back in the 80s) and/or continue to play today. This approach differs from the 'Top 50 games' lists, where I feature games that I believe are 'generally' the best for a particular year/computer, and those lists are also not ranked.
And what a year it was for ZX Spectrum games! 1985 and 1986 are probably (at least for me) the best years for Speccy gaming.
Let me know your top picks for ZX Spectrum 1985 games below in the comments!

Hello and welcome to the second episode of TOP 50 Amstrad CPC games in under 10 minutes. 1985 was a very fine year for Amstrad CPC gaming with games like Commando, Abu Simbel Profanation, The Way of the Exploding Fist and Cauldron released back then. Army Moves ❤ That theme music!
No SSI: Road War 2000? I didn't see it on the 1987 list either or Brian Jack's Uchi Mata?
Takes me bk wen i was only 12 yrs old wen i first played games on the c-64 thanks for memory lane ended up with over 300 games 👍
Where is Sword of Fargoal? For me the best game of 1983.
Porównanie z dupy. zbyt duża różnica czasowa w produkcji obu komputerów.
I spent far too much time playing these games when I was a teenager. Regret it now
Great Zx Spectrum choice ! 🎮🕹
After owning a 2600,i moved onto an 800bXL,bloody loved it, but cassette loading was a nightmare, no turbo loaders, my original machine suffered a ROM chip failure and UK Software support was abysmal. Moved onto the C64, fell in love with the SID chip, turbo loaders on cassette, great software support. But games such as Dropzone, Ninja, Elktraglide, Rescue On Fractalus, just worked so much better on the A8.
Comodore era mejor yo tenía un spectrum pero me sorprende viéndolo ahora que hubieron juegos que estuvieron mejor en spectrum aunque en esos que se ven en comodore eran mejores
10 minutes is all it took back then when the loading screen froze and you said screw this i' m going outside to play!
..And for any kids watching in 2024...YES it was as crap as it looks, be thankful you don't have to put up with what we suffered!
I played leaderboard golf for a few years.... -16 was never a bad score.,..
So many memories!
Ghost'n'Goblin must be way older then ´89. Like 85?
For 1990 these games were absolutely terrible. I know there's a fair bit of nostalgia in these things but the Spectrum was an early 80s machine that was clearly outclassed by 1985.
Hi, in Professional Adventure Writer PAW in ZX SPECTRUM. I type G graphics and press ENTER, then type Y, then go to the screen that has A picno. S picno. P picno. C picno. D picno. I type P, it doesn't go forward I type P picno. it doesn't go forward What do I type to go forward, to get to the graphics editor?

Thanks for sharing. I remember the graphics being much better. The sound, especially the music, is special.
Looks like c64 runs at 30fps and the 800xl run at 60fps?
Renegade? Ikari Warriors? Harrier Attack? Dan Dare? Saboteur 2? Batty? Exolon? This is joke.
This video covers only games from 1985 (check the title of the video). You can find Exolon, Dan Dare, ... in other episodes on this channel, that cover years that those games were released in. ;) Thanks for watching!
@@retrononame Yes. I didn't noticed that. My mistake. Sorry my friend. :) Than thank you for good video. :)
No worries. Thanks again for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Exolon looks better on ZX, Renegade and Joe Nipper look better on CPC, Bomb Jack 2 is awful on both. Freddy Hardest and Arkanoid are good enough on both (not a fan of distracting backgrounds in the latter, next thing they are going to make them twirl), CPC version of Monty looks like an Atari 2600 game, while ZX version has an insane amount of clashing with higher detailization. I am conflicted about Head over Heels, for one thing, why didn't they have shadow in the CPC version, while having an ungodly for CPC amount of detail? But both look good.
International soccer lol loved that game ,beach head too
Epic games of my childhood
And bruce lee was epic too
Archon 2 was one of my favourites, that was an awesome two player game
Impossible mission,stay a while,stay forever lol
Wolfenstein 3d is the most important game in world history.
I used to love Rampage.
Elite, Forbidden Forest Laser Squad, and Stuntcar Racer.
Commando! One of my first game for C64 together with Tomcat
89 was my last year with my +2 got an Amiga for Christmas 90 was amazing in comparison
Great video , lots of found memories come back whilst watching, nice one
Buggy Boy 😄😆🏁
1985 onwards is peak Spectrum
800xl was my first computer, the c64 my 2nd, loved both, sadly sold the atari, but still have the c64 in the loft
Omg the sounds are creepy😅
A bunch of uninteresting games for both platforms. Here it is obvious that game companies weren't spending much time on the Amiga, though -- terrible ports. They should have looked and sounded much better than the PC. But these were definitely premium, top notch games as far as the PC goes at that time.
This is not Infogrames "North & South" game :) and this "Turtles" game it's not coin-op. That is the first one.
Giana sisters- so good!
th-cam.com/video/EWpI0n1FZIY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cKP_IhLbFIe3vCvC
Amstrad looks like slow blocky mess in comparison to clear and faster Spectrum.
I spend so much times playing giana sisters
Lol Sorcery in Spectrum is a big crap compare with Amstrad cpc ( I got both when I was a child )
Manic Miner , Jet Pac , Sabre Wulf , Colossal Quest , Hobbit , Hungry Horace , Atic Attack and super classic Jet Set Willy. Those were the best on the Speccy
I replayed Bruce Lee on emulator a few years ago (or the pc version I forgot). That game was really unfair but so much fun. You could also play with 2 people where the 2nd player would control the big guy and you could either help or annoy P1.
I swear the Aztec Challenge music haunts my subconscious
ngl, looking back on some of those games it's crazy how the C64 and Amiga had some honestly impressive games, graphics wise. Not a majority of them of course, but a lot of them were damn good for their time.
96 / 5 000 But it's been a bad year. Games made at a push. Just compare Blinky Scary School (1990) and Titanic Blinky.
i prefer silent games as they left all to your imagination
