DIY Front Splitter Install on the Turbo LS Porsche 914
มุมมอง 5602 ปีที่แล้ว
Make your own Custom front splitter. Adding weight to the rear made the front end feel light. We decided to try a front splitter. It will close off the gap behind the front fiberglass and provide downforce at speed. Since this car has a very rare body style we had to make it our selves. It turned out pretty good and it doesn't hurt that it adds some weight to the front of the car. Subscribe to ...

A short video taking the Porsche 930 transaxle out AGAIN and seeing what went wrong. There is hope! LS6 Turbo powered 914 Porsche clutch and transaxle R&R. One thing that I didn't really make clear in the video is that the clutch being adjusted too tight besides making the clutch slip it also moved the throwout bearing so far that it rubbed the clutch disk. My friend built this car. The week before he sold he stopped by n we rolled around Mpls/STP area for a bit n I saw a 147 on the speedo northbound across the mighty Missisip in STP MN on the 35E that evening. Impressive. We also drove one Sunday morn to a raceway by his place n it did a 10.98, more or less right off the trailer but in that case it was right off the street. They told us to go home that day as it was way too fast for not being tech'd n stickered. It looks to still sport the homemade Eddy's headers. Nice. One nifty auto. A vote to loose that current front end body piece. That's my story n I'm stickin to it as I'm just sayin. Be Well in Oregon.

    Cool video cheap chooses they would work need a lot of modding that sensor is not treaded but u can convert it to a there by destroying an old sensor and using the probe in the housing with a bit of thermal paste and some glue to in case everything some epoxy resin if possible or something similar but water to air is actually cheaper or maybe not but simpler and not so many bends and pipes makes the engine bay look cleaner also it doesn’t heat soak

    The lockup function of Ultramatic was coolly unique as was the electronic selector in senior trims in ‘56. The transmission though let it down on acceleration. I had a couple of older I-8 327 cid and the one with manual plus overdrive was quite quick.

    Audi 01E code DQS or FRF were used with a 2.5TDI engine, a very strong six speed box that was geared for a low revving high torque engine that when mounted to a large V8 as with my Coyote engine allows the car to be driven easily around town and do 200 mph. Some still available in Europe for around 300 euros.

    • @that_escalated_quickly2720

      The 01E from the 1.9 TDI should have almost the same gearing and is basically as strong too... It doesn't have the oil cooler though (but it's not really needed anyway)

    • @mbshaw1
      @mbshaw1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@that_escalated_quickly2720 So the 1.9TDI units were rated with a lower power capability than the 2.5TDI units by VW/Audi , likely due to a narrower 1st gear. As far as I can tell from the literature I have, some CET, CBL, CBD and all CMG, CGR coded gearboxes had a narrow first gear.

    • @that_escalated_quickly2720
      @that_escalated_quickly2720 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mbshaw1 thats not true as far as I know, the difference narrow first or wide first gear was a topic of the early years from the quattro 01E, the first 01Es in the S4 C4 and other models which first received the 01E had the narrow 1st gear, then they saw that the early torque was too much for it and made it wide, somewhere in the S6 C4 gen time... The 1.9 TDI FWD in the A4 B6 has the 01E(5) (FRL or FPN) which has the same first gear thickness as the FWD 01E(2) (FRG or ENU) in the 2.5 TDI... The Diesels all had the wide first gear, because they have their max torque even earlier than the petrol engines...

    • @mbshaw1
      @mbshaw1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @that_escalated_quickly2720
      @that_escalated_quickly2720 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mbshaw1 they not only have the same casings, the transmission have both the same measurements on their inside parts, apart from the gearing of course... The 2.5 TDI and the 1.9 TDI 01E (quattro and fwd) have the same width on first gear, and the flexible mainshaft... You can find out if a 01E has the wider 1st gear by looking at the number: if the transmission number has either b or c in it, then it is wide 1st gear, you can only know if it has the flexible shaft by looking inside though... For example, all TDI, RS4 B5, RS2, S8 D2 have BOTH the flexible mainshaft AND wide first gear... Where did Audi state, that a 1.9 FWD is weaker than a FWD 2.5 TDI? Whats your source on that?

The one reason I watched was to confirm whether adding shims on the rear trailing arm added positive camber or added negative camber, which wasn't mentioned. I suspect removing shims adds negative camber, but I'm not sure. Also, knowing the effects on camber relative to the thickness of the shims added or removed was another piece of data I was seeking. Dude your video just opened up a world of possibilities for my proyect. Look, I'm making a single seater rally car with mid engine from scratch. The idea is basically the result of a Formula car having a baby with a baja buggy. Now, I would like to use an automatic or DSG transaxle and an LS engine for this, but I fear breaking the gearbox or simply being unable to have it running independently from the rest of the vehicle. Chassis, suspension, brakes, etc. All of that is no problem, my issue here is the transaxle with a 360hp to 425hp v8 engine attatched to it and working in stand alone mode. How do I make it happen? If you have any resources or give me a general direction to walk it would be amazing. I'm not gonna spend the moneh needed for a c8 corvette transaxle from tremec cuz that is insane money for me.

    • @growlith6969
      @growlith6969 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You may want to do a deep dive into the Corvette C8 transaxle anyway, they are starting to pile up in the Copart's and LKQ's. High probability that the usual suspects are making stand alone management for those things. Remember that if you are doing prolonged high G with a LS you are going to want to go dry sump. Otherwise just rock it with a normal oil pan.

    The only American car with 4-wheel torsion bar. Chrysler was front only, and no load lever. Oh, the trans: part of the development cost was for a lockup torque converter, almost 30 years ahead of Detroit - and they were MADE IN DETROIT! Slow ratio steering, but you could steer with a single finger, no power assist. 26-1/2 quart cooling system capacity - over 6.5 gallons! A few years back, a hot-rodded 374 Packard made for the Engine Masters series produced almost 450 (later 475) HP on the dyno. Impressive. Dad had a red/black '55 Clipper Custom Constellation, 2-door hardtop.

    I dealt with self adjusting pressure plate for the 1st time this past weekend.... After watching a few videos and with limited tools, i eventually used only the park bench lol... Yes park bench in my yard that had thick wooden seat.... Placed the pressure plate on top with 3 x same size small sockets evenly placed under the outer edge of the cover of the plate.... Centered it in the gap between the seats, long thickish bolt from underneath pressing against the bottom of the seat, old bearing , washer on top with nut and turned the nut with my wrench..... Once i found the sweet spot moved the pin anticlockwise, held it in the reset position opposite the marked colored dots on the cover while releasing pressure... Job done 😊 ...... No need for the flywheel and clutch plate to be present
