Been in reno for 20 years and half the people that move in move out w nothing…..little less than half
Do you mean financially? What do you mean by that?
Good Video. Comparing to Spokane and Arkansas?? I get it the same size but why would anyone want to live in either of those places? Reno is definitely on the radar for me as a place to retire to but that is several years down the road. Keep up the good work Sarah!!
Thank you :) and yes, mostly just because of size…
I moved here from the SF Bay Area almost 9 years ago. I love it here.
I love it here too :)
Do you have an infection on your lips????????
Dang N. Nev sounds like it sucks.
Nahhh
I think it’s over priced for that area !
Depends on where…there are so many variables within this city.
Moved here from Long Beach, California in the summer. Haven't been mugged or broken into ... yet. But it was a weekly occurrence in the LBC and California makes it really hard to defend yourself. Also, haven't seen a police car roll up in the whole time I've been here. Seems safe to me. 👍
I agree :)
To add on the transportation, because our public transit system is not great and have to have a vehicle it has made the traffic worse. Limited bike lanes and almost no bike trails for those outdoorsy people. The trails that we have are more geared for ATV/UTV’s and dirt bikes.
Totally!!
Love your content! Where did you get that sweater? So cute.
Thank you 😊😊. Thrift store find! 🙏🙌
Thanks for the great information 👍 [No offense buuut that shirt looks like a hospital gown, especially with the shiny metallic shure brand thing & the wire against the grey wall, omg, I thought you were part of a medical clinic video I had queded and you were the guy's girlfriend, lolololo so sorry!]
Bahaha you made me laugh so hard! I see it 🤣. It’s actually a cute sweater. But you can’t see much of it, so I get it lol. Re: the wire on the wall, I was in the midst of moving when I had to batch this month’s content. I have since painted the wire and moved it to a better position. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you still found this helpful 🥴🤣
Born and raised in Reno. I'm so happy to have moved from this racist uncultured city. I when I go home I am like, "people still think like this, do they ever evolve?" You can have it!
Thanks for your opinion and for stopping by.
The Reno and Carson City area. Has been rapidly expanding since about 1985. Take it from someone who drove from California to the Reno Air Races every year from 1983 to 2006. It’s crazy how it still keeps growing by leaps and bounds! That area does have lots of perks! 😎
My husband used to go to the air races every year with his family growing up. (His dad is a retired pilot.) I have heard some crazy stories!! Agree on all accounts.
Good Morning! I enjoy your video's! Until recently my Wife and I lived in Cold Springs way up in north Reno. Without any doubt Cold Springs is the absolute best community in the Reno Sparks area. Its obvious most of the residents are senior citizens and you can walk on paved walking trails for miles and feed deer at the same time. White Lake is beautiful year round and freezes over during the winter and is absolutely stunning! Its best to have a four wheel drive vehicle to get to Lemmon Drive for groceries. Early morning commute to work can be challenging. Best to set Medical appointments for after 10am. Its not unusual to see wild horses walking through neighborhoods in Cold Springs. I always enjoyed driving the entire McCarren loop just for fun. Rarely would we go to downtown Reno. Sparks had a better appeal and nice stores.
Great information. Thanks for sharing!
Except the traffic and warehouses that pushed all of us locals to the next counties over…
@@jasonenlund4210 that is a true reality for many :-/
WELCOME to Nevada!!!! NOW GO Home!!! Californians are completely IGNORANT to moving to Nevada!!! I have lived in LA$ VEGA$ for over 13 years now from the Bay Area and people from California are COMPLETELY IGNORANT to Research!!! BYE!!!!
So much caps lock going on here…
Note to self don't move to Reno.
Toooo late lol
I moved here in 2017 from northern California & was able to procure housing before prices skyrocketed (caused by big tech moving into the region w/o building any housing for its workers). Things I like about Reno: natives are friendly & actually talk to strangers which rarely happens in California. It's also easy to escape the mostly-ugly town w/an airport, a train the the East Bay & the interstate; there are for its size many restaurants & not all are national chains; we have a symphony, ballet & chamber orchestra; there's a small but growing jazz & indie music scene; one excellent used bookstore (Grass Roots); a maker's space (the Generator); an REI; and an IMAX. What I don't like: the arid atmosphere is hard on skin & makes allergies worse; winter's too cold & summer's too hot; drug gangs are real & people get shot & stabbed; the streets are inadequate for its population so there's always road work happening; the festivals are the same year-after-year & become boring; the medical care is okay but access sucks; and now the housing's outrageously expensive so forget about moving into better accommodations. Verdict: it's pretty good for a larger town but it's not for everyone.
These are all such great points! I agree with everything you said 💯. Hurray for the arts and for Grassroots too 😊🙌🤓.
Don’t regret at all moving to Reno from Monterey, CA. I was completely priced out of the housing market and two years after moving to Reno put 20% down on a new townhome. Reno is a great town.
Indeed!
"Californians" these days mean "Transplants of California by way of other states". Keep leaving my state. I'm from the Bay Area. Living here the past 35 years.
Thanks for stopping by.
**RENO SUCKS!!** ***DON’T MOVE HERE!!*** *_(especially if you’re from Calizuela)_* 😘
lol thank you for your valuable insight haha
I have a evap cooler in summer and its great. and pay maybe 100 bucks in summer for power
Those are great up to a certain temp. If it’s above 100, I find them to be a struggle…? Maybe yours is better…
I remember making an exploratory trip to Reno in 2014, looking at places where I might want to retire in about eight years. Housing prices were VERY reasonable at that time, and I put Reno at the top of my list. I checked again in 2019 and was absolutely shocked at how much housing prices had risen. I am now happily retired in Las Vegas.
It happened very fast!! Vegas is a hoot. Love visiting there too :)
Reno prices went up between 2014 and 2019 but looking back I found prices in Calif increased even more. Still glad I moved in 2014.
Reno region is HIGH DESERT...get a clue, weather is different so leaarn to adjust aaaand learn the weird laws, too (ask person who know). Definitely Vist Tahoe for a day trip or weekend; maybe buy a vacation home in Tahoe, too. If you're harrased at yer jobby job job, quietly threaten to sue, it'll stop that bs right quick. Get out and get into some sort of outdoorsy sport and get into hobbies for the home life. University has stuff going on and there's a week lonng event all sprin summer fall.
Thanks for the info!
In 2024 there were several wildfires around Reno, but in 2021 thru 2023 most of the poor air quality came from fires in Calif. Property tax rates are similar but lower property cost in Reno results in lower property tax overall. We certainly don't have the traffic like Calif. Washoe county sales taxes are 1-2% lower than most major cities in Calif. Been here ~10 years and no regrets!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, do you also do rentals? Like help people find the right rentsls to lease. Some real estate agents do thst, but not all. Also, are you an agent or a broker. Thank you. :)
Hey there, I do not do rentals, but can refer you to a colleague who does. She is fantastic. I am an agent, but actively working on getting my broker’s license.
Not just Californians? ANYBODY would regret moving to the meth capital of the USA!
I like Reno it's an industrious kind of City I would never want to live there full time but the second home there would be nice😊
Well…if you ever decide to pursue that, please don’t be a stranger 😊
I’ve gone to Reno a few times and can’t get over how boring an depressing it is …
Where did you visit? Downtown is the worst part of Reno (for now…) so if that is where you visited, I could totally see that.
That's why everyone turns to meth
@@sarahissellingit’s just a personal opinion casinos make me depressed an I don’t drink alcohol… I been told their is lots to do … unless their is an event .. I mostly stay out of Reno
Love reno been here 20 years and it’s great hate Cali who cares about the weather I like the set up here and yes it’s gotten too busy it was chill like 12 years ago
Yeah- def has changed in the past twelve years!
We have had 14" to 18" of snow here. One year we got 18" of snow dumped on us overnight!
That has been known to happen for sure!
One thing not mentioned is the aesthetics of Reno, meaning the place is just plain ugly
I could see that…I would say “gritty” is more the word I would use, and specifically about Downtown. The rest of the city is pretty great.
Lol, make day trips to THE LAKE! lolololo
What is your prediciton if the bond market continues to ignore the fed and rates go up?
Literally nothing surprises me anymore :-/ Hopefully that isn’t the case.
I live in the N Valleys and what was once peaceful sagebrush fields is built up with warehouses, houses, and more houses. Its getting crowded. And they want to put 3,000 more houses on the side of Peavine Peak up near Red Rock. UGH! All in 20 years. RE prices now similar to the Sacto suburbs. No state tax, but sales tax, and car insurance tax.
Times they are a changing!
I think price per sqft went up because smaller houses are selling i.e. houses under 2k sqft. Which typically have a higher price sqft
Good point…
After living in Reno for nearly 47 years because my parents made the move when I was a minor., moving back to Los Angeles County where I was born. I can honestly say that the weather is horrible in Reno and I never could adapt to the bone chilling cold. Reno is just not a family community it's really a dirty backwards ass way of living. I'm happy to be home.
Well said! It just seems like they can't do anything right in Reno!
To each their own 🙏
@@sarahisselling An RE agent would talk up Bosnia if they thought they could sell a house there
@kendallevans4079 haha aren’t agents the worst?? 🤣
I"m sure the feeling is more than mutual. Reno probably regrets Californians moved there too.
Lol
Reno is a shit show.
Haha…so curious about your opinion….
No not really. Still a lot of good here. can go over to Sierra, High desert area pretty quick. I like the varied weather.

Glad you enjoy it! I do these every month. The next one is currently being edited with the latest info 😊
Don't move to Florida 🥵 Traffic sucks and the weather. Insurance is high and housing costs .
We had a pretty rough visit to WDW this past summer. It was so magical as a kid. After this year, I will never go back.

That lounge music though.
Haha I’ll let my editor know. Thanks for the feedback 😊
I agree!

1st and aforemost Cold Springs is the absolute best and safest location to live in! It will get snow so having 4 Wheel car is a necessity. We lived there for 7 years and miss it. 7:26 Public school's in Cold Sorings are new.
Great insight. Thanks for chiming in 😊.
Reno's a dump!
@@RickC-y1x respectfully, I disagree.
@@sarahisselling go for a walk down Virginia street.
@@RickC-y1x yep- Downtown is still gritty. It is the last phase of Reno being somewhat reimagined. But there is soooo much else to Reno besides the 3 blocks of Downtown.
great
Thank you 😊
@@sarahisselling I am a subscriber of your youtube channel and a youtube expert. I like your videos very much. But I want to tell you about some problems with the TH-cam channel. Are you willing to talk to me?
Been waiting for this update!
Really?? That’s so awesome to hear. Thank you 😊. Hope it was everything you needed to know 🤗.
Sarah, I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I graduated in 1965 from Sparks High School! Then I loved downtown Reno. It had clothing stores, shoe stores, several theaters, a famous sporting goods store and a western wear store. Then the Mapes Hotel - Casino was torn down which initiated the rapid demise of downtown Reno! It's no longer a family friendly downtown.
Such cool memories! Hopefully they are successful with the ongoing Downtown revitalization efforts.
If they allowed fact checking Vance would be crying three against one.
