......and after all these years, I'm finally hearing the rest of the album. Shame on me!

A short lifetime ago, I would examine this album cover every time I was in the college book store. If you don't know, the cover is fun to peruse to see what was 'wrong with this picture.' I was a know it all college punk who thought he knew everything about the music scene thanks to Rolling Stone. What I didn't know was that Andrew was the master mind behind Linda Rondstadt's masterpiece, 'Heart Like a Wheel'. I'll always be a huge fan of 'Lonely Boy'. I could listen to that on a tape loop for an hour. Interesting fact: Andrew got to meet the Beatles when they went to the west coast on their first US trip. Andrew lived in an upper crust neighborhood and someone his parents knew hosted the Fab Four.

This album / song was my introduction to PW, thanks to Martin Vandyke of Detroit Npr for playing it, and I ended up buying the CD, falling in love with it and the rest is history!

This one always haunted me

"Hotel" is literally indistinguishable from a Tally Hall song.

This is the last album i bought before going off to university at 18. I was socially inept and absolutely terrified about being away from home, consequently that first year was very lonely and stressful. Echobelly, along with Elvis Costello, Suede and Sugar, helped me through those times and i eventually got the confidence to form some really beautiful friendships which are strong even now, 30 years later. So many memories encoded within these excellent lyrics and punchy melodic guitar pop. ❤

Timeless debut from 1994.

All killer, no filler, for my money the best 90s Britpop album. I was fortunate enough to interview the band when they played Detroit touring this album when I was a college radio DJ. Sonya was very charming and witty, pointing out how ants were crawling out of the mixing board when they were recording the album, and what not. We had quite a few laughs. 'Twas a jolly good time!

Kevin said they used their Prototype Gizmo on this album. What tracks did they use it on?

What songs on this album features the Gizmotron? Kevin Godley said they used it for the first time on here.

It’s such a shame that enjoyable albums full of talented songs no longer exist. 10cc were such a great underrated band reflecting a better time

Their song" I' m not in love makes me weeping until now, 68.

I saw Sparks in Glasgow recently ,, absolutely brilliant ,, my Son went to see them in Tokyo ,, same opinion.

I have never heard such a unique and interesting approach to song making and it still manages to sound simple and catchy

I love the 1979 version but don't like this one. The '79 version flowed more than this. The beat was better

1st listen to the early godley and cream, that's really cool, because I had no idea. I'm 51 and love music. This one has slipped until today. Never even seen the album. Thanks 🎉 posting this

The start of a fabulous sequence of outstanding songs.

The JS version is interesting. The Sparks version misses the point. This was Sparks and Giorgio Moroder. He had just invented electronic dance music. Donna Summer I Feel Love then this. His influence has gone in this version which is very sad.

This is the album that introduced me and got me into britpop. Gene singles were the next step and then I was all in.

The arpeggiated guitar part is lightly lifted from The Beatles' "And I Love Her."

I really like how you can actually hear each instrument and vocal
