thank you for the video - it inspired me! i could not get my rusted bolts out with a wrench though - but with persistence, a dremel, a drill and an angle grinder i got the old one removed 😂. i’ve been driving around the past three years with the spare on a roof rack but the rattling was driving me insane- finally manned-up and tackled the problem! unbelievable 6 difficult to access / prone to rust bolts holding that thing on . thank you for showing it is possible !

i understand this was a year ago. so you may already have the answer. anyways here goes, if the climate control is on, and the outside temp is lower than your set temp. then it will need heat. the only source of heat is the engine coolant. so to give you heat, the engine has to run. thats why when your climate control is on, the engine runs. it does stop if there is enough heat in the coolant but starts again if it goes below what it expects. The lights uses 12v. but the 12v is coming from the hybrid battery also. Prius do not have alternators so they convert the energy from the hybrid battery to 12v to charge your 12v computer battery. the main job of the 12v battery is to turn on the computers in the Prius on startup and maybe once in a while if you are on accessories mode. power the radio and what not. otherwise. everything comes from the hybrid battery. Basically, what charges the hybrid battery is MG1 or Motor Generator 1, thats located in the transaxle. what mostly moves the prius is MG2. weak 12v batteries causes a lot of crazy computer issues. so its important to keep that in good condition. if the hybrid battery has low capacity or is weak, then the engine has to come on more often to generate energy resulting in lower MPG. if you use the AC a lot then it also lowers MPG. AC uses the hybrid battery and at full speed uses like 10-15amps @220v DC or 2.4kw. if you achieve 49MPG when everything is off. then your engine should be ok/normal.

OMG, quite complex.. Why the manufacturers moved away from mechanical way to electrical actuators? Is it worth ?

Got a 06 Seqouia 4wd lights both 4hi and 4 lo are on but the shifting in R or D it wont move. I hear actuators moving and shifting and car trying to move with continuous noises

I think I just fixed my relatively new GE dishwasher which was shutting off after a few minutes or midcycle. Here there was a simpler solution that the average person could do. It appears the food collector in the machine got somewhat clogged causing the machine to shut off when the problem is detected. Fortunately that part in the machine has an easy open (my skills are about 3-4 on a 1-10 scale) we took it out, cleaned it thoroughly and did several hard starts. I turned the circuit-breaker connected to the dishwasher on and off a few times and the last waited a good minute. After 3 or 4 tries, paradise, it's working, I'll more attentive to cleaning dishes before and checking that. As best I can determine, when that is clogged, the machine turns off.

At that point just buy a cheap dishwasher

The engine came on with the climate control because you have the temperature set at 77 degrees. Turn temperature to low and the engine will stay off after the initial warm up.

There is also a 15amp fuse under the battery mount. The fuse is soldered onto a control board also under the battery mount .the pc board also has a transistor mounted on it

I have the same problem but only when it rains, i mean whenever car gets wet this lights will show and wont turn off with the paper clip method. I changed 12v battery its new. My car sometimes wont start until it gets dried out can someone help me
