    Straight, rust-free chassis is the key to an e36 build and you seem to have lucked out there. Subbed and looking forward to the build. Use of an M54b30 crank in the engine "refresh" could be worthwhile considering. Looking forward to the build!!

    Bruh! Affordability, aftermarket support and parts availability is key to this platform! I have owned my 1997 E36 M3/4/5 for 13 years and it has been a great experience learning, wrenching and driving it. I've had to do the brakes, clutch, rear main seal, suspension, window regulators, door lock actuators, oil changes, bushings and coolant refresh. All of that work was done by me and all of the work was pretty straight forward. No crazy issues or ultra specialized tools. You're going to love this platform. BTW the ZF transmission is pretty awesome! I also have an E46 with the 6 Speed Getrag and that tranny is good, but not as smooth as the ZF. I purchased for $8K and over the years have spent $8k in all the repairs above. At this point, the car is very well sorted and it just drives amazing and handles likes its on rails. Truly an awesome and visceral driving experience.

    Also for your side skirts I know a cheat code on putting them on use self tapping screws under the jack pad covers. Make sure they are small enough so you can hide them under the cover and then use 2 self tapping screws where the side skirt hugs the wheel wells. You can refer to the oem mounting points from pictures where they use plastic rivets to mount them also don’t forget the rubber seal that goes in between the skirt and the body. There will be a small gap if you don’t use it

  • @da_bimma
    @da_bimma หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @da_bimma

    You’re supposed to install the crash bar into the m3 bumper first with plastic clips then you mount it on to the 2 frame rail pieces and then you install the 13 mm nuts while pushing up from the bottom to close that gap under the nose panel

    You're brave man. I don't mess with body work lol. I had the same problem with those side skirt clips. Only the OEM ones worked. Same thing goes for window regulators when you get to that. I also recommend adding a few more holes for the skirts. Keep up the great progress 🙌

    I'm interested to see if that leaks around the thermostat housing. It looked like the block had a lot of corrosion around it and that is usually why people use sealant. The headlights are E36 P36 lights, DEPO took their projectors from the E46 and put in them in the E36 headlight housing. They illuminate the road much better than stock E36 headlights. That AUX fan is a disaster though.

    • @mjfx328
      @mjfx328 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sanding the surface helps. And ya fan clutch is usually the best option. Could always revert it

    • @andrekirmanidis
      @andrekirmanidis หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think maybe the corrosion looked worse on camera, its sealed just fine since then. Good info, unfortunately Im going to have to replace the headlights because a couple of tabs are broken. New Aux fan has already been installed. I just didnt have one at the time of the video
