MIDWESTERN DUCK HUNT
Duck hunting in the Midwest can be a very memorable experience especially when you hunt with friends and family. In this video, Joe, Scott, and Gavin shared a Wisconsin waterfowl hunt together for the first time in all the years they've known each other. Socializing with friends, bagging three different duck species, and enjoying an epic morning hunt is just part of what makes this a duck hunt to remember.

WHITETAIL BUCK WALKS RIGHT UNDER TREE STAND! | WISCONSIN DEER HUNTING
Dont know if you still have any interest in that rifle. If you flip the flint so it is bevel down it will strike higher creating more contact n for longer with the frizzen. Also the higher it strikes the frizzen the easier it is to start pushing it forward thus not busting your flint up as bad.
Makes sense. Thanks!
@theoutdoorrealm1658 Depends on the brand/style of lock. Some like it bevel up some like it bevel down 👍
camo job looks great on your boat
Thanks!
I wanna build one from scratch with wood and metal
That would be really awesome!
A warning! If you install this spring wrong with the short little tip pushing down providing the tension it will be very hard to remove the ram rod. I had to use one screwdriver to apply upwards pressure on the screw as I unscrewed it and had to pull hard. If the ram rod becomes stuck since it is threaded through the barrel you may have to destroy it so be sure to install this one the right way
I went out there in the winter. What a place.
Too much work for a vacation. I go solo and love it
Hey just a question cause I’m new and don’t know anything but you don’t have to rinse these after you apply like with the other blues right? And what did you use to apply? Barrel looks awesome
I used a sponge to apply. And yes, the instructions do say to rinse in cold water, dry with a clean cloth, and polish lightly with steel wool.
Its a better fit on my 590 that has a .25 inch coating of cerakote that's flaking off lol. I just don't like how flimsy the stock feels after a few magnum loads.
Trying making a "monkey's fist" with a pigtail as a messenger line for hefting the line on the trees.
what is the size of your tarp?
I have built both the flintlock and percussion models. After installing the pipes, I ran a rat-tail file through the pipes until the screws were flush with the interior of the pipes.
@5:30 You elpin? Shakes head no and walks away. lol
Thanks! Good job
Mans got that me myself and Irene mustache😅😅😅
I have to talk into these things to txt, they hardly ever mess my txt up ,but my spelling got screwed up this time.should have checked before sending but didn't..sorry guys
The way I usually do dowels with cur angle is to cut first then lie emm side by side on flat surface and mak other one with pencil..seems to work pretty good.I aint a woodworker though..lol
Helping me out a bunch here thanks guys I am about to take my son for a 3 day trip here in Australia Your tips have got me sorted Great channel 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hope you have a great trip!
If you have a problem with wet kindling that will not catch, a tea candle (bunrs for 6 hours) is a great help.
🌷Thank You🌻
Thanks for the vid and the words on honorably sourced and healthy food at the end. Good hunting!
The first problem that I see in this “campsite setup tutorial”, is a truckload of stuff. Way too much gear. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
Thanks for the whole video series...very informative and worth watching before starting the kit build
After my husband died, I sold all our old camping stuff that had shock cords (we had several tents) and bought "instant" everything so I could set up by myself. Even bought a compact, nesting Lifetime brand picnic table and benches so I wouldn't have to worry about spiders, splinters and trying to relocate heavy units (if they were even in the campsite). Also gave up on our old white gas Coleman camp stove and bought propane instant ignition stove. Thank goodness technology advanced and prices became reasonable, so I didn't have to give up on camping!
Good review
Great job explaining how to set up a tarp.Awesome
If you’re ever offered the chance to own a Traditions 50 caliber Hawken flintlock kit. Don’t walk away - RUN! I have one that has given me nothing but trouble. To start with there’s an 1/8 gap between the end cap and fore stock. So you will have to build a spacer. First time on the range, the flint came loose on the first shot! I tried to tighten the thumb screw and it went round and round. Turns out there was only threads on one side of the hole! I contacted Traditions to get it replaced and was told they don’t have repair parts for locks but if I send it in they would repair it. When I got it back it looked the same as when it left but I thought, try it. The first shot went fine. All was well and it was working great. Until the fifth shot, and it stripped again. Contacted Traditions and they sent me a new cock, thumb screw, and cock screw. The gap between the frizzen and the pan allows the 4f powder to fall out in any position except perfectly level. I stripped out two set of the 5mm lock screws that come with it. I thought I might have tightened the first ones too tight, so I torqued the second set to 13Nm and they stripped. I ended up drilling and tapping them to 10-32. Traditions is pretty good about working with me, but I didn’t get the gun for something to work and not shoot.
worst gun I ever had!
Very slick setup. Never thought of screen tent over the table.
Enjoyed the video! Might have to make a trip up there at somepoint!
Yea man, I recommend it!
I'm old, and been camping a long time. I think a video about how to use multiple tarps to cover a whole (or large area of ) a campsite would be useful. We never leave because of the rain, but we sure have trouble if we don't do a good job!
Love it Also keeps the sap from the pines getting om your Tent.
Looks like a blast!
It was pretty fun!
Looks like a lot of fun Joe
@@curtallen2346 sure was!
I saw this last year. Just as entertaining again. Great to see the kids in the outdoors having fun. Reminds me of my son, canoeing since 2 years old. Cheers from Madison!
Hey glad you enjoyed it. Getting the kids involved is important.
So simple but well executed. Thank you for this straightforward and purposeful video 👍🏻
That bit about taping the ridge-line to your center pole is brilliant! I'm going to have to try it on my next outing.
Slick. Well thought out.
I enjoyed watching your video very much, I love going camping as much as I can, I wish you and your family the best. God Bless All of you, can't wait to hit the road, going to Yosemite next month, 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks! Have a safe trip!
What I appreciate about this video is the modesty 🤔 ....not everyone has A $70,000 boat with every electronic gizmo under the sun .... making memories for those kids , we've all been there ....me too in the '70s
Camping food is some of my favorite food. Love it. And best shared with family
That’s for sure.
Gotta love when the weather man forecast no rain… 😂
Haha yea. Best to just be prepared I reckon.
Lol, we were camping at lake arbutus when I was kid and had literally a creek form right in the middle of our tent from so much rain. No sleep that night lol
@@RedBeardedPredators wow yea I bet. Sounds like a rough night of camping!
This looks like so many of our camping trips with our 3 little girls in northern MN. Sunny weather and easy times are great, but the trips with rain and cold and broken gear are the ones we still talk about. Overcoming challenges with people you love makes for strong, happy families.
Couldn’t agree more.
indiana jones teaching us his wisdom
😆
Looks like a great trip!
It was fun for sure!
Some of our best memories is camping with our 3 boys. Nice looking family and trip!
Thanks! Camping with the kids can be challenging, but it’s worth it.
@@theoutdoorrealm1658 I agree. The best is when they appreciate it when they get older. Mine are 21, 17, and 14. All have been literally camping since babies. We have a big annual BWCA trip coming up this month.
@@coonlakebackwoods that is really awesome. Lots of great memories you've created over the years I'm sure. Hope you have an enjoyable and safe trip! Heard its been pretty wet over there this year.
Omg everything is done really good I hope my side camp 🏕️ is going to be perfect as I planned I also think 💭 to make a video I ending get to much to make it look perfect 👍🏼thanks for all the tips about camping ⛺️
Great Shot! Plenty of Hens here in Orange County,NY. COME FALL/ 2024.
The barrel to stock pins are a real pain. ,
I thought you already answered, but where is this campsite located? And which one is your favorite in the Midwest? I just love any site with tall pines.
This site is in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern WI. Hard to say exactly which site is our favorite because there are so many good ones. If I had to pick one area to camp, Eagle River, WI area would be pretty high on my list.
Just getting into the game, I have a 14ft tin can, what size trolling motor would you recommend?
Nothing less than 45 lbs thrust. 55 lbs would probably be best.
@@theoutdoorrealm1658 thanks for the response and advice, much appreciated!
who tf goes camping with so much stuff? man americans, you take the fun out of camping...
