An architect told me once, “If you don’t add expansion joints into your designs, Mother Nature will put one in for you, it’s called a crack.” Let’s face it, when we design, we copy a design, resize it, and make it our own. In doing so, how would we know if we’re copying its design mistakes or not? Is there a filter we can use? That filter is called "Gruebler's Count 3D.” This formula, developed in 1883, was used to determine if a mechanism is fully, partially, or over-constrained. It helps us adhere to the "Laws of Physics" (rem. Mother Nature always wins), making machines last a lifetime. You can create "Smart Mechanisms," where moving parts automatically align themselves to changes in force and temperature, making them last a "Lifetime." These short videos are supplements to my book on Amazon, “How to Design Mechanisms that Last a Lifetime." It's not uncommon for my "3D Gruebler-ized" designs in the theme park & packaging industries to CYCLE OVER 24 MILLION TIMES without any issues!

This looks nice but there are too much moving parts leading to faster mechanical failure
If the math is correct (using Gruebler's Count) the mech will last a lifetime. Think about a helicopter rotor mech. It has way more parts and runs fine. It also passes Gruebler's Count.
@@GrueblersCount okay i can understand, but a helicopter has aggressive inspections and regular maintenance, i like Japanese engineering, (over engineered) and very practical and direct, but i understand your point it you use the design as intended then it will last a lifetime, if not then its just a dice role, dont get me wrong i really love the design, but i also love to see it irl and experiment with it

FYI: There are two types of Shrink Link Mechanism Landing Gear Designs: Shock Cylinder Compressing type (Typhoon, FU4 Corsair, F-4 Phantom, F-101 Voodoo, A-4 Skyhawk NLG), and Shock Cylinder Lifting type (Airbus A330, Concord, Buccaneer, BAE 146, SU-7, OV-10 Bronco)

Great Design. Can you tell me what type of joints you used between the upper spiders and tie rod? Appreciate it
It’s basically a revolute joint. I made it a “snap in” revolute joint. The inside of the clevis of the ears of the tie rod has a hemispherical pocket. The ends of the spider has a hemispherical ball protrusion. Then they can snap into each other since PLA plastic is flexible.

This design is so complicated, yet so simple and strong, despite the stresses of high speed, high G dives, loops, turns and recoveries.
Yes, I agree. The entire outer wing is held at basically 3 points. It happens to agree with Physics. The Law of Physics states that we only need 3 points to hold an object.
