I'm getting 2 females blue heelers that were dumped I never met them but will tomorrow night idk if they we're trained in anything but I will work with them
My 13 week pup I’ll distract him with a toy or chew . But , he’s figured out if he barks at me and bites me if ignored then he gets played with. So smart . So changed strategies again. He’s definitely a challenge from the other Heelers I’ve had .

Thank you so much for this video! I'm excited to adopt my 2 year old cattle dog end of this month! I want to teach her "middle" trick and how to use the dog buttons to talk!
Just because you want something in life does not make it right. Sometimes you have to think of what’s gonna be best for your future pet. Excellent video.
He was looking back at his daddy the whole time!
My. Skeeter luvs kids. By the time he chases the kids plays ball an doing tricks he's worn out.
Ive owned competition Rottweilers for 30 years. Everyone nipped and bit until they matured. One in particular was a crazy man but when his teeth came in he just stopped. Pups teething keys and a variety of toys helped
so who is having more fun here?
Hey Jack, love your vids. Had a quick question. I got my cattle dog named Niles when he was about 4 months old from the shelter. He's very sweet and he just turned two (approx) on April 2nd. Ive never had my own dog before. Hes a good boy but hes in that state of being a you know what. I recently started training him and hes doing incredibly well. Whatever I do I take very seriously and his training is very consistent. One thing is that he gets crazy around other dogs and humans. For example my neighbors cant come over because I dont know what hes going to do and I want him to be able to be more consistent. Would you have any tips for getting him socialized with humans and dogs? Thanks! - Subscribed brah!
Hey! ya socialization is key, I have a video on it and more in depth videos at cattledogacademy.com
www.diydogtrainer.com/cattledogacademy
They get hot 🥵
Smart hardworking and loyal dogs!!!!!!!love my heelers!!
I love my Australian Cattle Dog.
My older Cattle Dog is my PTSD Service Dog that I’ve highly trained. We’ve been together since she was 15 months old, and given to me as a gift from a young US Marine getting ready to deploy. In his words, “I want you to have her because I understand PTSD.” I am a Domestic Abuse Survivor. She’s 10 now and I bought a new female Cattle Dog 2 weeks ago, she’s 11 weeks old. Her name is Matilda and Lexi my other Service Dog is going to be helping me train the new puppy. The puppy will model her Service Dog behavior after Lexi in training. I spent a solid 6 months training Lexi. She goes with me everywhere even on planes. Always under control and knows when her vest is put on it’s time to work. She is in tune with everything around us. She’s not aggressive. I put socializing as a top priority always taking her to the dog park where she herds all the other dogs! It can be quite embarrassing! I trained her not to nip at the heels of others and also not other dogs. Right now I’m using the kennel method to housebreak the puppy, Matilda. She already responds to her name, and already knows very simple commands I give in a foreign language I speak. That’s how I trained Lexi specifically in that foreign language so when she’s working no one will attempt to distract her. It’ll be the same way with Matilda. I specifically choose this breed because they are ranked number 7 out of the top 10 breeds for intelligence by the AKC. While Lexi is working she is mentally stimulated. I agree with you people need to do their research on this breed. The original breeder in Queensland Australia bred in the Wild Dingo for 2 reasons. 1) stamina, and 2) they have night vision. If you shine a light in a Cattle Dogs eyes they should reflect back green. That’s the night vision. Dingos are nighttime predators hence the night vision gene. This breed is incredible but definitely should have an owner willing to accept the time and energy needed to own one.
So if you’re dead ass broke and can’t even afford proper dog food, what are your suggestions for that situation? It’ll be a long time until I can actually buy gear and supplies for this, plus one of them is as big as me and has aggression problems
I have a blue healer and a border collie and 10 acres and some cattle. I will tell you, pairing them up with a border collie has been great because they play and wrestle for hours and exhaust themselves. They never stop wrestling. I absolutely love the breed. Super sweet.
Loved all my Heelers. Best breed, IMO
Try our new mental enrichment yak cheese chews here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0DFDR91C9 They provide great mental stimulation and also are a high protein treat that promotes dental health with only two ingredients! Appreciate y'all
Heelers are absolutely not for people who have little to no experience with dogs.
Oldest living dog at the time was a blue heeler named blue and lived 28-29 years when he died.
Once again, you described Blitzen like you've been watching him! He used to be cool with the gas station attendants until one day, he just decided they don't need to come near the truck anymore. I leave the window cracked just enough to poke a dog treat in. But if they do, he won't even touch it until I get back in the truck. He is a bit aggressive towards other males(humans included)so I have to tell him they are ok & show him that they aren't going to hurt me. He's VERY protective of me. If anyone moves towards me, he's very quick to inform them that I am HIS person, period. I call him my "white shadow"(he's all white) & "lethal protector." There are a few of my friends he deems fit to be part of his small, elite circle & I can count them on 1 hand. Me being #1, he is #2, & the other 2 or 3 in no particular order. & yes, is an asshole sometimes. Lol. Thanks again for the video.
Your video gave me a bit of insight on my dog Blitzen. His mom is a mutt with like 3 herding breeds, & his dad is full Australian cattle dog, & DAMN does he have energy, & he can GO for what seems like forever! You described Blitzen in your video to a T. I've joked numerous times, saying that he's part honeybadger BEFORE ever seeing this video. Thanks for filming this. I have a better understanding of my crazy sidekick.
I have a heeler/GSD mix that was a stray rescue. We have only had her about a month. She is only 5 months old but is suuuuuper reactive in a “let’s play” kind of way with literally all people and other dogs. I want to start socializing her in places like The Home Depot but I’m worried she was yank me all over the store trying to jump on and say hi to people. How do I address this?
Isn’t it a terrible idea to reward it for going for your heels? I feel like you ended up making it worse lol
Your soft I have a red healer and he bits my ankles all day and he has so much energy so as I say this dog is the best and it is the best family dog ever❤
I have a gorgeous red as well. I, too, love the muscular, square build and blocky head.
I love my heeler! She's so smart and beautiful!🐕❤
I say the same about my Japanese chin dogs
Great video ! I've had some great dogs, and when we adopted Lucy from the Humane Society a couple weeks ago, I knew she was special. 9 mnths old, and a strong cattle dog look and temperament, mixed with "something" else. Maybe beagle or pug. Our current dog is a lot of energy, but see (and figured) that Lucy would, and does have even more energy. I appreciate this "come" video as I so realize the importance, and you've shown ways I'll add to the training for sure. What's your opinion on Fly Ball? I'm mainly concerned about the front leg use, but have a club near by I've checked out. Should I wait till she more fully developed. Thanks for any advice!
Clean.. just got my blue heeler Bluey last week.I have a small hobby farm and he's finding all the scents...lol
Woof
Sell me a product because its good.. not because the box looks good. Jack, most of us are normal people, not a bunch of .. how do I say this. I have a cattle dog, make his food because most of it is crap, dont care about the box, expect him to keep up with me and when I'm done, he needs to still do his job, keeps us safe at night and is always ready. Walk past my house, day or night, just ask my neighbors... screw the box, sell great products! Put your logo on it.. Back 40.. the best there is for the dog you love!
Totally agree, that is why we sell our products, because they are great and they work. I was just letting y'all in behind the scenes on the new label designs :)
So, not mant bombs out here in the scrub... I feel sorry for you yanks
Are we talking shock collar? Oh HELL NO
I thought the jump from 2 dogs to 3 dogs wouldn’t be a big deal. I was WRONG lol. It is definitely a lot. Part of that might be that 2 of the 3 are heelers 😂 wouldn’t trade them for anything though, they’re the absolute best.
ya that adds to the chaos for sure! haha
Just seen your video, down here in oz, we use kelpies for sheep herding, as cattle dog a bit hard on them as yours is, cattle dogs used for driving from behind normal for them to nip at heels to keep them moving. cheers mate.
They’re evil as pets. Don’t do it.
My red heeler Bolt loves his time out doors. BDE
You're right, but you say it all like a complete.......
You have no idea what you are talking about.
I agree 100 percent- energy not the problem can be relaxed but SO reactive to other dogs and controlling him on leash can be very challenging if he sees a cat or a dog he thinks is disrespecting him ! Good guard dog though…
oh no, i wish i had seen your video last week, I just rescued ACD mix, although he looks purebreed except has floppy ears. what i have learned in your video is this is not the right dog for me!!
I dream about the days when i will have my dog and do this type of stuff.
I'm confused is this thing edible like can they eat it like a protein bar type thing or does it contain plastic
Hey! Yes its edible. Their saliva breaks it down over time...no plastic...only ingredients are yak milk and lime juice!
Why would it contain plastic...?
Oh how i wish they lived as long as we do.😢 😎🌈🐕🦺🦖🐕
More heart than brains, don't run him to death, he wants to please. My second service dog was a blue cattle dog ( looked like he was part dinosaur). The most incredible hard worker. I still miss him. Fearless in the face of danger, joyous in play and work. Bet you running him is one of the best times of his life. It's part of his job to him. Glad you feed him such good food. Thank you for sharing ❤👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😎🌈🐕🦺🦖🐕
Great video! I have a 14 year old foster girl. Took a long time for her to trust me. I always say she is the dog and I am the cow!
I agree 200% I have a 2 year old pit mix and he keeps me moving and motivated and I'm blessed to have that.
you have a cattle dog not a sheep dog.
On behalf of humanity, I’m sorry that the topic of being dominate when it comes to being the leader of your “pack” is taboo. Excellent videos sir, thank you.
