I share my journey as a self-taught artist striving to turn my passion into a profession.
Welcome to my TH-cam channel where I share my journey to becoming a professional artist. I document the ups and downs of my artistic process. I share my personal experiences, struggles, and breakthroughs as I work towards achieving my dream.
As a self-taught artist, all the skills I possess today are a result of my love for exploring, experimenting, and creating.
I didn't start seriously pursuing art until several years ago, and I understand the difficulties and frustrations that come with self-teaching.
I am also a HSP (highly sensitive person), which I now feel is a gift but that wasn’t always the case.
I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter their background, age, or educational level.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure!
Please subscribe 😊 ❤️

I spent so many hours in this little sketchbook this year! Full tour as a long-form video coming up this week. Please subscribe so you don't miss it! 😃❤️
Such a sweet kitty, the drawing is beautiful…Do you spray the page to keep it from smudging or keep a piece of parchment between the pages of the sketchbook…I would love to know what number/letter pencil you are using at each stage…Thank you…
Thank you, Pamela! This drawing was done on a loose piece of Arches paper. I usually spray my drawings with a fixatif - but right I’ll admit I don’t have a good system to store my drawings. Sometimes I use tissue paper in between them. As for the pencils, I used a 4H 2H HB 2B and 8B if I remember correctly. I also use a black colored pencils or a matte 14B for the darkest values. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching. 😊
@@isabelledebionne thank you for the reply….i like to work in graphite and enjoy seeing yours…
🐸 I would love to see a turtle drawing….

Love seeing the little treasure drawings collection growing 😍 and the bird just amazing! It's also very nice to discover little by little facts and curiosities about you throughout your vlogs Isabelle 🕊😘
Thank you, Teresa! You are so kind. I'm glad you enjoyed this video! 🧡🤗
Hi, Isabelle, I adore that bird! It's very beautiful 🐦I am an expat myself and I'd love to hear your personal experience. I totally understand that feeling of living in between two chairs, except that I thought it would fade away throughout the years... Maybe it never does. I think it is a very interesting topic.
Hi, Marcela! Aw thank you! I don’t think the feeling ever fades but maybe it evolves? I’ll definitely make a video in January on my experience as an expat. Thank you so much for watching!
@isabelledebionne 👏👏 Great!!!
Beautiful video and drawings Isabelle. Having split identities is an interesting characteristic, which is a benefit I think. My parents immigrated to Canada, so I'm first generation born and raised. There was a level of expectation to uphold their traditions as well as my desire for a more "Canadian" lifestyle as I was growing up. Then a third aspect came in with more travel, where I feel more at home in different places around the world. Sometimes, I feel like my values don't align with Canadian culture, whereas they do in other countries like parts of Asia and Europe. Having these split identities though is a benefit. We're able to think more openly and compassionately with these experiences. I used to be uncomfortable and distraught about it. Overtime, I'm now thankful for it.
Thank you, Julie, for watching, and for sharing your thoughts on growing up in a multicultural situation and how that continues to shape your experience. I do agree that there are benefits such as thinking more openly and compassionately. 💛
Greetings from Toronto, Ontario Canad🇨🇦 Nice vlog. I subscribed to support your channel and artistic goals. I really enjoy small art. Love graphite pencil sketches. Currently I'm taking a break from brushes and exploring the possibilities available in pencil art, graphite, pastels, colored, aquarelle and ink. I feel more connected to the paper and the image I'm creating on it with a pencil in my hand rather than a brush. It has something to do with the slower pace and greater attention to detail, although I do enjoy oil painting. Acrylics are way too fast for me and watercolor is tricky. I much prefer slow and steady mediums where I have time to work, rework and correct rather than being rushed into a final image because the medium is drying so fast. I too am a HSP living alone, but not lonely, with my cat, a highly sensitive species. Cheers and merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season. 🤶 🎄
Hello Jane, thank you so much for watching, and welcome to my channel! I do appreciate your support. 🧡 It's always wonderful to connect with like-minded people. I do love a slow-paced medium such as graphite, as well. Seems we have a few things in common! My late cate Olivia was a highly sensitive one as well - my soulmate! I've only done one video on being HSP on my channel - I think that is a subject I'll revisit in 2025. Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas & holiday season! 🎄✨

Hello. New to your channel. Enjoyed your drawings. Am in similar situation regarding " between ' two cultures. I share your perspective and look forward to hearing more from you as you explore that. Subscribed.
Welcome! Thank you for subscribing, I'm glad you enjoyed the drawings! 😊 I’ll definitely film a video in January on being in between 2 cultures. Thank you for watching!

Hi, I‘m a British citizen living in Germany so can identify with your „dual“ feelings. Bristol will always be home for me. And, my dad was in the royal navy, fleet air arm & my nephew was a submariner. Like your pencil sketches. Thanks.
Hi Valerie! Thank you for sharing. It’s always nice to know other people relate. I love England - visited often growing up and I spent a year in Birmingham after university. I’m glad you liked the pencil drawings. Thank you so much for watching! 😊

Your an insane drawer keep up the hard work great toad lol
Thank you so much 😊
This is so good!!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful drawings, as we expect! That issss an adorable bird! 🦜 so colorful! I think the “sitting between chairs” aspect of cultural differences is fascinating - having more perspectives I think does open up a larger world, but maybe it’s harder to find that perfectly comfortable spot too. Good luck on all your greeting cards. Oh geez, you have so much writing to do!! Thank you for another cozy vlog, Isabelle!
Thank you! I'm glad you like the drawings! I do love that I have this multicultural perspective - yet it can feel uncomfortable because I am no longer fully French and I also never will be fully American (I'm missing some cultural references). I don't think I've found a way to reconcile the two cultures within me - hence why I've told you in the past my relationship with France is complicated. haha! I hope that makes sense... The greetings cards are all written and mailed! hooray! I did write quite a few... Thank you so much for watching my little vlog, Brian! I do appreciate it! 😊
🦤 love the drawing
@@blooome 😊
we are so much alike in yet another way, sort of…being caught in two cultural worlds my parents immigrated from Italy in 1957 … they basically brought Italy with them back here to Canada… and i was born in 1974, they raised me 100% italian, however they could never understand why i would want to adopt anything “Canadian” growing up in this culture and the schools, etc, but now i have come to know that i am indeed both cultures 100% it used to be a confusing thing for me, not knowing which of the two cultures i should have been honouring, but now i see that i am both and i adopt aspects of both as i see fit. alors, dit moi encore, s’il tu plait it has been a joy getting to know you, and maybe one day it won’t be one sided and i will actually start making videos too. xo 😊
@@blooome We are! Thank you for sharing your experience growing up within 2 cultures! It’s so interesting. Funny enough I’ve been here 20 years and never really reflected upon what I was feeling… I’m not sure I’m 50/50 on each culture. The last time I went to France 2 years ago I truly felt like a fish out of water and it was surreal. Lo sai che ho visuto a Milano per cinque anni prima di venire qua? Where in Italy are your parents from? Definitely let me know if you start making videos! Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate it! 😊🤍xo
This week's vlog is spent mostly in my sketchbook... continuing my "little treasure" series. On a more personal matter, let me know if you're interested in a future video touching on my experience as an expat (I'm from France and now living in the USA). Thank you so much for watching, liking, commenting... I appreciate your support! 🧡
Love seeing you add to your treasures 💜🐦
Thank you, Maryann! 😊💜
As an expat myself (6years almost) I am always interested to hear how other expats sort of work with the complex feelings that come with it. On a totally different note, I'm experimenting a little with pencil crayons and graphite (I'm a watercolour girly) but it always seems to look sort of streaky...like you can see in the final piece which directions my pencil strokes went...any tips on how to work on this as your gorgeous works look so smooth🦚
The feelings are complex, yes! I do think I'll make a video next year about being an expat. Where are you from / moved to? (If you'd like to share). When it comes to having a smooth shading using pencils, the trick is to do little circles close to each other rather than long strokes. With strokes, even using a blending stump the result won't be as smooth (at least in my experience). I did a little tutorial on graphite demonstrating my technique if you want a visual explanation. Thank you so much for watching (till the end!) 😊💚
@isabelledebionne born and raised in south Africa to German and dutch immigrant parents and now living in Bulgaria! Thanks for the tip, I will go look for your video as well and give it some work🤗
Oh that is quite the cultural mix! That’s awesome! I hope the graphite tutorial helps. 🤗

This is a great idea Isabelle. Snail mail is a great touch on the envelope. People will not only save cards (as I do) but also the envelopes when they're so beautiful like this ❤
@@julepandtrubbs Thank you, Julie! I also save cards & special letters. I appreciate you watching 🧡✨
Your drawing skills are exquisite
Thank you so much! 😊
I adore the snail envelope! I used to love writing with my pen pals when I was younger, so sad nobody wants to write letters anymore.
Oh yes, I remember pen pals! I know, it’s such a shame writing letters is (almost) a lost art. Thank you for watching! 😊
Also, my favorite was definitely the snail with the Christmas lights. That would be a great sticker all year long.
He's my fave too.
I miss getting letters in the mail. Real mail. I wish we would go back to the slow and personal practice of letter writing. I love the idea of letter art.
I know, right?! I miss letters too. Thank you so much for watching, Christina! xo
Wow gorgeous! I’d be opening those sooooo carefully 😅
