Probably a good idea to get a bag of o rings for your field kit.
Can’t do your o ring thing on crossbow arrows because of the rail they use to ride in.

I’m doing my research on these heads and great tips for sure. I’m a little reluctant on buying them because they swivel when they go through the animal with possibly only having one blade open. I wish the just completely locked and didn’t swivel. I absolutely love the practice set screw. Have you had good luck with them?
Both blades lock open and are still able to swivel. Hope that helps, good luck!
Can't go wrong with these. The best mechanical out there. I assume you've seen lusk archery adventures test these, if not check him out. He shoots them in concrete and they don't break. He's never had issues with them not fully opening.

Actually they will affect arrow flight they will cause them to fly better by adding turbulence in front of fletching causing them to grab the air quicker. Search turbulator and see what they are

How important is the “o” ring? Will the blades deploy in flight from air resistance without it?
Yes, the o- rings keep the blades in place. Without them, they may not deploy all the way, but with the way they are designed you will definitely have blades sticking out on one side or the other.

Do you need to run the monster 4 vanes to get them to fly straight?
They fly just like field points, so no matter what your set up is, you should be good.

I do the same thing with the o rings. Another thing you can do if you run a tight spot quiver is to get the secondary gripper it helps keep your arrows from sliding up and cutting the o ring on the broadbead.

How do you close the blades after they are deployed,safely
There is a small plastic tool that comes with the broadheads that helps separate the blades to close them. I personally like to use a my hunting knife instead of the the plastic tool.
Inside the box besides the little bag with the setscrew ,allen wrench and stuff you see a sheet of stickers and a black card that shows how to close the blades up and replace them if you ever have to do that.
Found out an easy way to install those tiny o-rings over the ferrule, if you take a small pair of needle nose pliers, place the o-ring on the end of the tips of them and gently stretch them over the ferrule to the groove. Also if you do the tip on sliding them down the shaft of your bolt/arrow, it is quick and easy by gently stretching the o-ring over the ahaft.
Does this same method work for changing the draw length as well?
Yes sir, you get the mod in draw length, draw weight and let off. You can usually find the mods on eBay as well. Easy switch out.

I picked them up at my local Mathews dealer. You can also find them on Ebay from time to time.
