INSTALLING A NEW HEADLINER IN THE MONTE CARLO
Like many 80’s cars the Monte Carlo’s headliner has seen better days. I finally decided to replace the sagging headliner with a new ABS backed headliner. Most GM G-body hard top cars should be the same or very similar as this Monte Carlo.
Hope this helps anyone that’s thinking about replacing their headliner. Feel free to ask questions. Sorry about some of the audio quality.
Please help a fellow car guy out and hit that like and subscribe button.
More videos come up shortly.
Thanks!!!

Adding a new but old radio to the Chevelle!
มุมมอง 1025 หลายเดือนก่อน
After an almost 2 year wait I finally got the radio back for the Chevelle. Instead of going with a brand new vintage radio like I did in the Monte Carlo I decided to go with an Aurora modified radio. I picked up a non working original 1973 AM/FM radio from Ebay for $10 and sent it off to have it converted over with modern electronics. So as for how rare the car is thats a tough argument. I have a 1970 ss 454. Now the 4 speed cars I have been told did not have a 454 option because 70 was the last year for non emissions and the 454 option as well. Only after 70 did they start the 4 speed option. This is when it gets interesting. 1970 was the first year of this body and the only year the ss 454 was available but 71-72 were the last years for this body and the only years that the 4 speed was an option and I know for sure the 4 speed cars like the ss 454 are very hard to come by. So it's a very on the fence topic for sure.

    • @kickdowngarage
      @kickdowngarage 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The SS 454s was also available in 71. You could also get a 4 spd in 70 as long as it wasn’t an SS car. All 454 SS cars in 70 and 71 came standard with automatic transmissions. In 71 269 4spd were made with a 350 and 80 with the 402. Don’t recall the exact numbers that were made in 70 with a manual transmissions but the numbers were higher then in 71. Either way not many manual transmission montes were produced including ones with a 3 on the tree.

      @danjanes8689 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bozyb5702 I'm wondering where you got your information because it's very inaccurate. The other reply you got is accurate. Also, the 454 was available in a Monte Carlo through the '75 models. The First Generation Monte Carlo Club website has all of the production numbers from Chevrolet. All SS454s came with a TH400. No SS454s were built with a 4 speed. A 4 speed was not part of the SS454 option package.

    Love these 3rd Gen Malibu's and Chevelles, They have always gotten a BAD rap in my opinion. I bought a 74 a couple months ago, it was originally Light Poly Green with White Landau Vinyl Top and White interior and other than the Paint, Dash and Front Seat it was in REALLY Good Shape, but living here in Central Florida that's pretty much par for course. I've already cleaned up the engine and engine bay, fixed and recovered the dash, threw some white Bucket Seats I got out of a mid 80's S10, very little work need to modify the Mount btw and I'm getting ready to paint it, I am changing the paint color, from the original Light Poly Green to Eastwoods Agave Green Metallic, Why? because I got a SMOKING deal on it, My local auto paint supply store is an Eastwood Shipping point/Distributor and it was a "Miss-mix" from the Factory, I paid $50 for the gallon of paint, and it's a Single Stage Paint, that's 2/3 off the regular price and I don't have to buy a clear coat, that's a double win. I'm not REAL sure what I'm going to do for wheels yet but I have a set of Nova Rally Wheels off a 73 or 74 Nova that I might slap on to see if I like them.

      You are correct they do get a bad rap and most of the negative comments come from people had have never owned one. Take it I really like the 2nd gens but this car goes down the ride so smooth. Best of luck on your car and the paint. Not sure if it’s working correctly but if you can throw a picture of your car on my Facebook page, just search Kickdown Garage, I’d love to see before and after pictures. I also think the rallys would look great on your car!

    Had a buddy that bought one as his first car around 80. 73 Laguna 350 2bbl auto console and bucket seats. Car was maroon with the landau top. Top was pretty faded but I'd say it was beige, and the interior was off white too.

    Great job. I never knew Monte Carlo had a stick option. I wonder how many 454 had stick?

      From what I found No 454s came with a stick. In 70 and 71 to get a 454 it had to be an SS and automatics were standard.

      They ride and handle WAY better than the 1968 - 1972 cars! I have 74 Century GS455.

      @@kickdowngarage If you can get the Horsepower over 350 or so gross, over 400 if possible, they get really fun....and with the stiffer suspension and sway bars will keep up with (or humiliate) allot of expensive cars.
