Can it be listed in both turo and hiya car? I have another car but is a bit older (56 plate) can it be listed on hiya car?
Can you change the title of your channel to Juns not motoring please as this is more applicable to the status of this channel.
What app can use to hire a van out
Can you start your own business without relying on Turo?
Good video. Which app is popular in Cambridge, UK ?
thanks m8,very informative
Hi John, can I ask whether you plan to resell your hire car? Hiyacar's website recommends selling your hire vehicle 2 - 3 years after purchase, and that failure to do so limits profits. Is this because as the mileage goes up over years, less prople want to hire? I'm considering doing this, but dont want to sell my car JUST as the renting finally pays off the cost of the vehicle. Thanks.
How does the tax and vat work out and depreciation costs on the vehicle#
peanuts, not worth it at all
I have a fiesta from 2017 1.0 ecoboost turbo, i change the wet belt all fine now, problem solved very easy in a service, cost me around 800 euro next to other stuff ai change not just bet but all distribution and accessories change.
Currently living in the back of a Toyota Yaris (long story) and would relish this sort of space, I really do like the coat hanger hook at 6:58 do you have any information on where they can be bought from?
It's a Command hook. I got it from B&M but you can them for from all over, most supermarkets have them too.
How is life Ralph? Did you try out that hook?
Hi K4Y, so so, still in the Yaris. I did try the hook and it's a game changer. If only I could get a bigger car from B&M hahaha. I would say a 5ft male would be fine in here but it's not made for the 6ft gentleman.
Thanks for the video i hope you do that more often, in terms of the daily changes i think 28£ is really cheap you might consider at least getting a 300£ to 400£ in one month rent
why would ford design an engine with the timing belt running throught hot oil???? simpletons😡
Nice build, made for the city although a bit on the bigger side
Ecoboosts have a poor reputation for reliability. Play safe and get a slighter bigger petrol or diesel engine, they're more reliable, as any mechanic will tell you.
I do hope you got the red light fixed, that's very worrying. Is that Bublé CD still available out of interest?
So you will need a new engine. Can you change it yourself? They seem to be about £1500 ish. But a lot of bits to change. You need to buy one with total service history for Ford to take on the problem. This car just has scrap value. Very strange buy?
Despite the wet belt design the 1.0 litre models are super popular with great economy and just £20 annual road tax. Pro advice says it’s best to change the wet belt before it hits 100k miles or 10 years, average garage price around £1700…
So there's no real savings then, how much is a new belt fitted?
After 10 years or 100K miles, the car won't be worth repairing. No thanks, I'd stick to the more relliable bigger engined version.
@@paultaylor7082 my neighbour has the 1.6 diesel version and has had 52 mpg from it. Tax is high though and not sure if diesel is Ulez compliant. P.s. I think all sizes of the ecoboost engines are wet belt but could be wrong?
I've got one of these, it's been a fantastic car for 8 years and no issues yet. Since it's not worth much I might just have to keep it till it conks out.
Hi just seen ur video on TH-cam my question is I'm about to book a car on turo for £178.14 for 2 days so my question is do i just pay the £178.14 pick the keys n drive or do i pay deposit n car insurance too that's my question
If you retail that and the belt/engine goes within a couple of months, would you be liable for fixing it? If so, that seems like a crazy financial risk (Ok, just heard you are renting it)
My car is old. I'm looking at Hiya car to rent. I'm not eligible for turo. Is it okay or do I have any other options.
Hiya car is the one really but just depends on location as its not that popular in my area but worth a try!
The firm is short of money and can put off customers with Ryanair type charges while faling to attract new ones for lack of advertising. On the other hand you can try to contact your customers nicely and directly if there is anything like fuel to pay for, so they are not put-off by extra charges, and you might have a knack for flyposting and leafletting. Epson Ecotank and Premier Inks are a good cheap combination for printing flyers. I am lucky to live near some leviel crossings where laminated flyers on the fence get a lot of attention. Hiyacar's instant booking app thing is great. You become a rival to Zipcar as well as to the airport car hire companies. Since I joined, they have started charging a lot for instant booking so maybe this is best left till you have tested the market. I used to do very well out of Hiyacar here in London and vaguaely near stations but business dropped off a cliff in about April or May. It has picked up just slightly since and I will see how it goes as I have a very cheap-to-insure car bought for the purpose and am on old Hiiyacar agreements that charged less per month. Hope this helps. I am rambling a little after some glasses of wine.
No one bid on it as dealers generally wont touch them.
Do the cars need to be insured under the account holders name or can it be under someone else i.e car is registered to one person and insured under another as that person will use the car
I dont think it matters. As long as you claim on your insurance policy that the car is registered to someone else
I can't find an insurance company that insurers shared cars any recommendations please
@@angelsky2111 I used the usual ones on comparison sites and didn't tell them. No problems arose. There is a problem with miles; they can read the mileage of MOT reports, I guess, so they think they are insuring for all the miles that Hiyacar covers and they don't.
@@Veganlinecom thank you so much for telling me..
@@JohnsMotoring I can't find an insurance company that insurers shared cars any recommendations please
Wouldnt go anywhere near an ecoboost engine or a puretech that later Citroen C1s have. Both have failed
Hey, thanks for the video. Please keep on doing these. I plan on buying a newer car so I can put that on Turo. Do you know if I can add a car on a PCP or PCH?
I dont think theres an issue at turos end with car being on finance. In theory could go against terms and conditions of lender but they wont really know
Brilliant little camper van and it's environmentally friendly.
The rapid charging thing makes sense, to protect the battery.
That's a bit of a bargain
They don't build ford's like they use too
Eco boost has design flaws
Ecorat sooner or later it will go t!ts up
Specially made Sh!t so next time you buy a Ford they can sell you an EV 😂 And that's from a Ford car salesman who I went to school with
If i wanted an EV, it wouldn't be a Ford anyway. They only sell 2, and neither are my sort of car.....
Yes indeed. Specially made to fail I'm convinced also. My peugeot 207 had the same issues if not worse. It became scrap thanks to the wet belt after 23000 miles. It was a nightmare from day one. Now I have an electric hyundai , my faith in the modern petrol engine has been totally destroyed. Happy to take a chance with charging issues and batteries. It will be to get us all electric, and then eventually out of cars altogether. Potholes, anyone?
Only an employee would say that, the ecotech engine has design flaws, and some would say it’s designed to fail
Don’t like the look of it . Hasn’t been looked after . Wide birth for that money.
Your right john .....a gamble?
It’s a gamble I wouldn’t take, anyone buying one of these from BCA unseen and unheard wants their head tested.
I have a CLK55 AMG for the weekends. Definitely not as fast as these new models but the V8 rumble is still just as amazing,
Ecoboom.
You’re very courageous for two reasons, firstly it’s a ford and secondly it’s ecotec
First time in a while ive been called courageous so I will take that 😂
Nonsense, fords are very reliable cars
EcoBoom
Sounds good. What kind of insurance do you need to take out to cover your self and customers? As I have just fully comp only
I have fully comp on a multi car policy and then the borrower will be covered by their own insurance through the app
@@JohnsMotoring thanks, just saw your previous vid. I’m struggling with how they may drive my personal car but I might just buy a cheap car from auction and have it as a second car to generate a small income. Also concerned how difficult it would be to sort out disputes on small damages, fuel, speeding fines, parking fines, as life is difficult enough with out getting more headaches

I have had 4 Focus cars. 2 Mk1s 1 Mk3 and now a Mk4. No major problems with any, had 1 Mk1 for 10 years and the Mk3 8 years.
Any ecoboost?
@JohnsMotoring yes 2,the the last one, a Mk3.5, had it 8 years, same colour as the 1 in this video, a 1 litre Titanium X, great car, no real issues. Traded for a Mk4.5 last year 1 litre ST line X. No issues so far but only had it 8 months. Always serviced regularly, usually at main dealers. Both cars bought nearly new, under a year old.
I' only drive ford's I've had 15 since 1978,honestly apart from tyres the odd battery no problems 😅
Any updates on car?
Car is currently rented out on turo. Its been all over ireland the past few works. The check engine light pops up sometimes after codes were deleted so will get that checked again eventually but running good at the moment!
@JohnsMotoring problem with these are oil gets contaminated with bits and bits of wet belt too . And oil pick up in sump gets clogs up. Exhaust off and sump then clean pick up mesh and same time check wet belt for condition
Mate you have been an utter fool as these were well known as trouble to anyone with even the most basic knowledge of engine failure scandals would know
Why do Wet belts fail...
They require a specific oil and most places just put standard oil in
@@bigpete111100 What grade oil would they need?
@Leehuss5582 The oil Ford released for the ecoboost engine whatever it is
@@bigpete111100 Cheers Pete ✌🤜🏽
Because the oil breaks down the rubber timing belt causing rubber pieces to clog the oil pump. Either the timing belt will break, or the oil pump will get clogged. Either way you can kiss goodbye to the engine
When they did the oil pump they must surely have changed both belts? Can you find out? Also make sure they used oil that has the WSS-M2C948-B specification. If not then get an oil change immediately and put that stuff in. Castrol 0W20 Magnatec is what Ford uses but it must be WSS-M2C948-B because that's compatible with the wet belts. If you use that at every service, that engine should easily last another 10 years/100k miles. That's a great buy. The reason people have problems is because they use the wrong oil and it eats the belts. The facelift cars shouldn't have any of the cooling issues of the earlier car either, so you've got a lovely car there.
The degas hose is fixed on the facelift but there are other hoses that can leak the turbo coolant pipe rusts on some cars it seems certain ones in production must have used a different metal that rusts easier and that's built into the turbo so u cant just replace the pipe easily. I owned a 2015 facelift and the heater matrix pipe engine bay side was leaking coolant from there and the turbo pipe was rusty on mine but no leak then the wet belt went on it too expensive to fix it I suspect the wrong oil was used as you say so I got a replacement car instead of wasting money fixing it as everything kept going wrong at once on that car gearbox was also noisy in 1st and 2nd gear I've now lost all faith in buying another Ford and theres also no hope for modern Peugeot Citroen and more recently Vauxhall models all doomed with the same wet belt in the 1.2 puretech engine rules out so many good cars ruined by crap petrol engines
05W20 even.
Exactly, I had a 13 plate ecoboost fiesta serviced every year with the correct oil. Had that car for 9 years before upgrading to a MHEV fiesta. Not a single problem with it.
i did something better i change the distribution, that must last me 20 years now lol
Mines gone 100 thousand miles 2015 not a single issue
Fingers crossed this one goes the distance!
@@GordonDivine7 used castrol oil for first few years but have used duckhams 5w 20 it fully conforms to ford specifications. That’s the only 2 brands I have had in the engine
How can a 1ltr engine, be much good in a heavy car, a motorcycle yes , old mini of the 60s 7os yes, but a Ford focus?
Because it supplies the same bhp and more torque than the 1.6 litre engine that it replaced.
the torque of 125hp variant with overboost is more than a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated engine now if you want watch my video of my focus 1.0 ecoboost with a light stage 2 to see what is really capable of
Clearly, you haven't driven one.....
Apart from the wet belt issue, the engine is a clever design. It accelerates really well, you generally don't feel any difference. 45 mpg, £20 car tax and free entry to Ulez zones, so there's a lot going for it.
@@DadgeCity Yes, apart from the poor reliability of the Ecoboost engine. As witnessed by so many failures of the model, compared to the more orthodox powered versions. I bet the garages loves these, £1700 a pop to repair the wet belt, as mentioned elsewhere.
I hope you dont have any problems. It seems if you have it regularly serviced should be okay and use the correct oils.
I got a 2016 fiesta 1 litre ecoboost. Only found out about the problems with the ecoboost 3 weeks ago. Going to get the wetbelt and cambelts changed as a precaution. £900 + VAT.
Ive seen several cars online with over 100k miles so they can last but just lots of horror stories but suppose most cars have some weaknesses! Had to replace the battery and thats it so far
Maybe you can turn it round quick.. but if it's got a spotty service history? And getting over 60k I would look at the wet belt change.. the weird thing is they had the oil pump re done which you would think they would do the wet belt at the same time? I guess not.. but like a cambelt 60-70k so it's due..most buyers look at mileage and have no clue about this engine.. so cleaned up it will go.. if the wet belt was changed though. Then things would be better
Surely if they’ve replaced the oil pump they’ve changed the two wet belts at the same time. I’d try to contact either the previous owner or the garage that replaced the oil pump to ask the question.
@@tonyc2837they have obviously just replaced the oil pump. The belts will need changing straight away.900 quid by a good independent specialist.the old oil pump must have been damaged by the degrading belts.
Just do it.
