I’m so glad that you followed up on your Discussion journey. I just lost 5 precious Discus due to the fact that I also confided in the pet shop owner and did not quarantine one of them. I’m undecided whether to buy Discus again. I don’t know why but my wife doesn’t want me to buy anymore Discus. They have gotten too expensive and the lost is huge.

Ypu are seriously overthinking things bud. To many water changes. Once or twice a week is plenty. Planted aquariums are more stable so i do even less. Temps need to be minimum 82. I keep mine at 86. Temp match the new water within 4 degrees of the tank water always. Thinking too much always causes more harm than good. These arent wild caught discuss so they can handle alot more than wild discus can.

Dont listen to all this BS about bare bottom…and sponge filters/air stones are an abomination..scape the tank so that plants take up one quadrant of the tank,,seperate the planted section which should have aqua soil and fast growing stem plants..Ludwigia ovalis/Limnophila sessiflora..75% of the tank should be ADA La plata/fine sand..50% water change once a week..2 times feeding a day (once before leaving for work and once in the evening)..heater at 28 degree C..Discus will grow like pigs and you wont see white stringy poop if u do de-worming every 3months..plants are the key..but the scaping area is different for a Discus tank..plants keep my nitrates <20ppm with just one water change a week..filtration I use a cannister as well as a big HoB Seachem Tidal for surface agitation..and a surface skimmer from Oase to help some real gas exchange..no airstones and sponge filters please..its like sitting in a 45 degree room in a tropical country with no AC and a tubing stuck to your nose and out the window..

Lesson 1: Don't you smell your aquarium water? If the water is bad it would smell off and in the worst case smell putrid. Also meaning your tank is badly balanced and has a harder time adjusting to keep your water clean which in turn means you have to keep doing water changes

Oh no! Not the Lindy hop! Please anything but that. When I was training to use Final Cur Pro back in ‘05 I think it was, the only material we had to practice with was a clip of two people doing the Lindy Hop. There were only seven or eight actual shots, and you can take my word for it, there is only a limited number of ways you can edit seven shots into one video. And we had this for a year

“U most do a 90% daily water change “ is the most misleading advice out there and so tiring 😂😂…maybe for some people it makes sense like example breeders or people with heavy stocked tanks .one advice that makes more sense at least for me is fish don’t need beef .its not like they have beef in the wild 😂😂😂 fish like discus can thrive without beef BUT again maybe for some people it does make sense 🤷‍♂️ .😂

Your wife is really beautiful. Being too admiring of other men's beautiful wives is maybe not the best thing for me lol. I hope all marriages are be based on unconditional love and faithfulness. Today, many people divorce at the drop of a hat. They divorce if a spouse has lost their looks. This is such a tragedy. I believe Jesus has it right when he says divorce is never an option except in cases of adultery. May you both be happy and healthy. May you always compromise on disagreements.

Can't believe you got fake rocks, i wouldn't use those with goldfish! You don't need to age your water, it doesn't get rid of the chloramine anyway, just use water conditioner or run the water slowly through activated carbon. Quarantine is super important, i usually preemptively worm mine. You don't need a tank, i just buy a 20 gallon bucket. Also your discus are all babies, buy ones that are over 4 inches, the baby stage of the hardest to keep, not a place i would start as a newbie. Live and learn.

wouldnt you be better having a substrate & micro fauna to deal with left over food & waste , unless you have the bio diversity in there nothing can deal with the waste. snails, shrimp, daphnia, worms in the substrate etc..

I had lost 10 discus 2 years ago. All died within a span of 10 days. Tried to treat them for parasites, bacteria but nothing helped. I used to do alternate day water changes without aging the water (used antichlorine directly into the tank). They were doing well for about 2 months before getting sick one after another. Finally, thinking of getting a new discus tank again.

Bro, I have seen very few guys like you, who admits his failure so easily and humbly. I am also a new Discus keeper. Fortunately have found a good guide as my friend in my locality who has a huge Discus breeding experience. A Couple of weeks back I bought 3 pairs of tiny Discus. They were barely of 2 inches. As my friend said, raising young discus is the toughest part of the whole process. So if I can manage to keep them healthy and alive, that means I can start bringing bigger discus. Unfortunately, one of them died and now they are 5 and healthy by God's grace. Apart from the color and all, I love the way they move. So graceful. Anyway, really feeling happy to see your success.
